I'm pretty sure it's a legit toy, the plastic feels really good, the paint apps are immaculate. There are no paint apps on the foot, but that colour is not anywhere on this version and on the regular release soundwave it's in many places so I guess they just left it off.

The only curious thing is there is one panel on the chest that is black where the same panel on the retail release of normal soundwave (included for comparison here) is blue. it's odd that it's not white as I would have thought it would come off the same sprue as the other white pieces, though maybe they were able to gate it off one sprue set and onto the other. it looks like that in the instructions picture that was leaked years ago also, so I'm satisfied it's the real deal.

Now I just need an animated RAMJET... sigh, not for $100 though

yep, I can't remember if I originally heard about it here or on another news site. I passed it up a year or so ago when it was only about $45. now I've had to pay "anti-impatience tax".
I do know that one or two other people here have purchased it in the past.

Thanks to Nexusnixx I have Masterpiece Soundwave! And the Amazon edition with the two extra energon cubes and nifty coin. I know I could have waitied for the Hasbro version but after TRU Optimus i'd rather just have the Takara version.
