What speed postage did you go for Gok? I have been thinking about using Amazon JP but if they are slow then I'll stick to HLJ.
Amazon JP have next day guaranteed domestic delivery, but they don't post toys internationally. I have my toy shipped to a friend's place in Japan who then posts it to me. I'm a tight-(synonym for bum that rhymes with sparse), so I have it shipped cheaply - so it's probably been shipped by SAL (my contact will use EMS if it works out to be the same price as SAL). Amazon JP's not an option if you don't have access to a Japanese residential address.
I often use HLJ too, and I actually checked them out first to get this toy but their preorders were sold out. I came very late to the game in preordering MP Beast Convoy - literally putting the order in 1 week before it was due for release. :p PC and HLJ were sold out but Amazon weren't so I went for them. But yeah, the international shipping has nothing to do with Amazon (as they just don't do it).
Btw, my posts here aren't vents (I save that stuff for the TF Venting thread). It's more like a daily, "Are we there yet?" :p I'm not a patient person. :o
Um Gok, I hate to break it to you but Amazon JP ships internationally these days.
Here's a quote from MP Inferno's listing.

And the double whammy?
Primal is in stock over at HLJ.
:D
Is that on all Transformers or just some? Because when I tried to purchase MP Beast Convoy directly it gave me a series of drop down menus to enter my address, including one to select which Japanese Prefecture I live in. It didn't give me the option to manually enter an Australian address. Unless they've recently changed their settings for this toy.

When I checked it said "Order Stop."
Anyway, there's not much point in me ordering one now from HLJ since I have my Amazon order in transit. No use crying over split milk. :o
It's not recent. Remember that if you buy from a Fulfilled by Amazon or 3rd party seller they probably won't ship to Australia, but Amazon them selves do.

I'll bear that in mind next time I place an order from Amazon JP, thanks.
It's still early but I'm gonna call it - Day 15 and still no show. If I come home and find otherwise I will eat my hat.
I'm actually seriously thinking about ordering another MP Beast Convoy from Amazon and using Amazon's international shipping thing, because I'm afraid that the one that my friend sent me may have been lost (or is just that slow that I may not see it till Xmas).
This toy has now reached the 2nd longest time I've waited for a shipment from Japan. 8 more days until it matches the longest time of 23 days.
Day 16 still nothing. I just went and ordered another MP32 from HLJ w/ trackable express international shipping as opposed to slow-mo SAL. HLJ's price is significantly cheaper than Amazon's that even with EMS it still works out cheaper than Amazon's price before shipping.
What?! Was this recently or back when you living in WA? Cos it seems odd that a delivery from Tochigi to Hyogo would take so long! Are you ordering your stuff from Amazon? Cos they have free guaranteed next day delivery within Japan.
HLJ MP32 Day 1: toy has reached Japan Post's international dispatch in Tokyo.
Amazon MP32 Day 17: <cicadas.chirping> :(
HLJ MP32 Day 2: toy has been sent from the international exchange (国際交換局) at JP Post's international post office in Tokyo (東京国際郵便局).
Amazon MP32 Day 18: <tumbleweeds>
HLJ EMS Day 3: オーストラリア、シドニー国際交換局に到着 (arrival at Sydney International Exchange office)
Amazon SAL Day 19: Homo sapiens evolve into two divergent species; the surface dwelling Eloi and the subterranean Morlocks.
Hey! Being cheap on postage saves me money to buy more toys! :p Although in this case HLJ's EMS worked out being cheaper than Amazon with SAL so umm... yeah... (but as mentioned before, HLJ's page for MP32 showed up as being Out of Stock when I initially checked).
And SAL isn't normally this slow. My MP Soundwave was sent via SAL and arrived in only 3 days. On average my SAL shipments arrive in 9.9 days. Initially Amazon's preorder prices used to be significantly cheaper than almost anyone else's. But if HLJ's price with EMS is going to work out cheaper than Amazon's pre-postage price, then obviously it makes more sense to go w/ HLJ and trackable EMS.
The moral of the story for me is if there is a cheaper superior option, then go with that option! :D
At this rate I'm expecting my SAL MP32's arrival to coincide with the Second Coming. :o

Gok, was the price you saw on Amazon actually from Amazon themselves? I think they've been sold out for a while and so you probably saw a marketplace seller's price.
Now that it's become scarce, they're basically charging whatever they want for it. Also, not all of the marketplace sellers will ship internationally anyway.
For reference:

The first green highlight shows the marketplace seller and note that it's fulfilled by Amazon, not sold by Amazon. It'll say "Ships from and sold by Amazon.co.jp" if it's from Amazon.
Despite being fulfilled by Amazon, if you add this seller's MP-32 to cart, then select an AU shipping address when going through checkout, it'll tell you it can't be shipped there.
The second green highlight takes you to a page showing all the marketplace sellers. On this next screenshot i've highlighted a seller that explicitly mentions international shipping is available, but most do not.

Not that anyone in their right mind would pay these kinds of prices anyway (i hope :o)
So just be wary of who you're actually buying from when using Amazon and comparing prices.
Yeah, I ordered the toy quite late (1 week before release), so not too surprising that Amazon would be sold out. Anyway, my cheaper HLJ one will likely arrive first and I'll sell off my Amazon ordered one and recoup my cost for that later (just as well I used cheap (but slow) SAL for it). Nice translation job btw. :)
HLJ EMS Day 6: still stuck at Sydney International exchange office. Typical. Whenever I've had trackable shipping from Japan to AU the package always moves quickly in Japan but then stalls once it hits here.
Amazon SAL Day 22: In commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the civil war between District 13 and Panem, the first Hunger Games are held.
so which bot will you submit for the next eternal waiting game?
first sentinel now primal, who is on the next episode of 'what duplicate bot will goktimus buy while he wait' show?
I'm gonna guess inferno
:D:cool::rolleyes:
I never played the Waiting Game with Sentinel Prime, what are you talking about? The only other time I bought a duplicate toy because the shipment was taking too long was MP Wheeljack, which was two years ago!
I did get two Road Rages but that was because I'd accidentally ordered two. I preordered one from Amazon first, then forgot that I did it and preordered another one from HLJ. Then both toys were sent just a day apart from each other and both actually arrived on the same day (the Amazon one was actually a day faster than HLJ). But that wasn't because I got impatient, I'd just accidentally ordered two and forgot that I had. :p Road Rage was difficult to sell because the toy shelfwarmed and many online stores slashed prices, whereas I was just trying to sell it at the original pre-order price that I paid just to recoup my costs (cheaper than RRP but still dearer than discount prices from sellers desperate to move dead stock). I did eventually sell her, but it took a while. :)
The same will happen with my Amazon Primal, it'll go on my sales thread for the same cost that I paid for it. Yeah, it'll be dearer than PC or HLJ's pre-order price, but it will eventually sell. While I am an impatient buyer I'm a pretty patient seller. ;)
I thought I'd read a comment from gok somewhere here saying he was waiting for sentinel from pc and ended up buying it from Kmart.
Find me the post about it on this thread and quote it. If not, then I didn't play the "Waiting Game" for that toy.
I mentioned that toy on a separate thread that had nothing to do with this. And it was only mentioned because I was wondering if I should contact PC in inquire about the toy. It was NOT a discussion about how long it was taking. If you're going to bring up issues brought up in a different thread and then cite it here out of context then it just feels provocative (which as we all know is against board rules).
Other members have made constructive contributions to this discussion. I've since learnt that:
* HLJ showing that something is out of stock doesn't necessarily mean that it is and that it might be worthwhile checking back on them later
* Amazon JP ships internationally
* Buying a toy off Amazon doesn't necessarily mean that you're buying a toy from Amazon
etc.
And I'm appreciative of these contributions that others have made. I've made it no secret that I'm extremely inexperienced when it comes to online shopping. If you have some constructive advice to give me, then I'm more than happy to receive it, but I'm none too pleased about derisive comments made at my expense. I've never spoken to you in such a tone, and I would expect the same level of courtesy shown in kind (re: mutual respect). Thank you.
Relax. I'm pretty sure all the smilies in his post suggest he's just joking around not mocking anyone.
Sorry for being snappy... I'm actually sick at home today after only 3 hours sleep last night. :(
No one is here to argue or pick on you, you simply post lot on how unlucky you are with slow delivery and sentinel was brought up since its on the topic of waiting and a recent one for u
Dude relax and see the lighter side of it, your over thinking and stressing for nothing ;)
And if your after genuine advise then i'll echo one of my previous comment and prob others as well in the past , as long as you are going for the cheapest options on shipping the chance of you becoming a recurring contestant on the waiting game is high.
The only way out is pay for the faster yet more costly option, not much ways around it regardless of where you shop from
That's fine. I know that cheaper shipping methods will be slower. As I mentioned from the outset, this isn't a series of vents (that would be posted in the Transformers Venting Thread) but rather just stating that I'm still waiting. It's more of a, "Are we there yet?" series of posts rather than a, "Why isn't it here?!?" type complaint.
As you all know, I am greatly adverse to paying above RRP for any toy, so if the cost of postage is going to bring the overall cost of the toy above RRP then I'm going to go for the cheaper option to try and keep the overall cost as close to being at or below RRP as possible. In the case of MP Beast Convoy, the RRP is 12000JPY. The price I paid on Amazon was slightly above RRP so I went for the cheapest shipping option because I already paid quite a bit for the toy itself. HLJ's on the other hand was only 9600JPY, and EMS put the total up to 11880JPY, so even with the cost of superior postage HLJ's price still worked out to be just under RRP. As I said before, I actually checked out HLJ first but the page initially showed up as Out of Stock which is why I then turned to Amazon as my last resort.
Anyway, the postage tracking shows HLJ's MP Beast Convoy has "arrived" ... doesn't say where. I guess it means it's officially in the country now (so passed Customs?). It then says "Set Delivery Date:..." but then it's blank after that. What a tease. :p

^Notice how quickly things went when the toy was still in Japan. On the 16th the toy was shipped from HLJ's warehouse in Gunma Prefecture to Japan Post's international exchange office in approx. 2h (a distance of approx. 130km). On the next day it was sent from Tokyo, and a day after that it arrived in Sydney's international exchange office, presumably Customs. And it's been sitting there until today where I guess it's now in the hands of Australia Post, so now we move onto the next phase of The Waiting Game(TM)!
also amiami normally has the cheapest @ 30% off , most times, not all.
hlj usually max out @ 20%
but shipping its similar to hlj.
Yeah, but I find that Amiami sells out very quickly (not surprisingly). There have been a few times when I've been fast enough to preorder through them, and yeah, their prices are great. But usually I'm not fast enough. :p
Anyway, HLJ MP32 arrived this evening!
Time to start beating up a Lexus then. :p
