It really comes down to how many different colours of plastics they use, and if those other colours are significant enough to be a good toy even without stickers.
Since Wheeljack was released by Hasbro, that was an easy one to avoid, but Smokescreen was necessary (at the time), and if the Beast Hunters version is decent and more cartoon-accurate than the Knock-Out redeco, it will be easy to pass as well (if you are only buying show characters, or JP toys that Hasbro didn't release).
