I kind of like the idea they are catering to both toy and cartoon enthusiasts although I can appreciate if you are firmly rooted in one of these collecting philosophies then you might feel like you're not getting a complete collection.
Not fussed. I would liked some compromises on Ultra Magnus, as in they could have added some more paint apps like tail lights, colours on the ramps and some truck details, but overall, I'm loving the line.
And Bumblebee as a deformed beetle would have looked silly in with a licensed car line.
The thing with deforming vehicles is that they can become unrecognisable. Bumblebee is different because the very distinctive VW Beetle features are still recognisable, even when deformed; but I gotta admit that I couldn't initially recognise Cliffjumper and Hubcap as Porsche 924s, nor Bumper as a Mazda 323. Sure, I can clearly see it now that I know it, but at first glance I personally couldn't recognise their vehicle models. I was once walking through a car park w/ a friend, and we walked passed a red Porsche 924; he pointed out to me that we were walking past Cliffjumper, and I was like, "Huh??" But sure enough, it was! But I had to stop and have a second take. Whereas just a few days ago another mate of mine posted a photo of a 240z parked at a shopping centre, and I immediately posted a reply w/ a photo of MP Prowl. ;) Having correctly proportioned vehicle modes make them much easier to recognise, especially for people who aren't necessarily car buffs, like me. :oQuote:

Bumblebee wasn't an accurate VW on screen. He was deformed in cartoon continuity also.

Yes, we all know this. It's because the cartoon was being toy-accurate as far as the vehicle proportions were concerned. But technically, if you want MP Bumblebee to have a cartoon-accurate vehicle mode, then not only should it be deformed, but we need to strip off a lot of the decos and details, such as:Quote:

That would make it much more screen-accurate, but to me, it wouldn't feel like a Masterpiece.
If you want a G1 Bumblebee toy with the most screen-accurate vehicle mode, look at TFC reissue Bumblebee. No painted lights, unpainted rear bumper (even the original G1 toy had a black painted bumper to match the front) -- very sparse on paint ops, but it's toon-accurate! :D
It's such a great line and the figures are so well done I'm not bothered at all about minor accuracy issues and wot not
To be getting G1 characters in this level of detail in this present day still makes me pinch myself

FYI for the record, Optimus eyes are blue in cartoon.
Anyone is free to disagree but I am seeing blue from all images.
The g1 toy showed yellow.
TT mp10 isn't any of those. However is an acceptable compromise . The mp1 though have blue metallic eyes .
I not going to debate what is what, as it is a done deal, but TT could readjust their reissues catering to the taste of the others. Bandai does this with their toys. But of course who am I to say?
Thats what I want. Optimus, Soundwave and Ultra Magnus are unlicensed cartoon accurate moulds. Thats whats appropriate for those characters and I think it's appropriate for Bumblebee.Quote:

As I said, coming from someone who actually doesn't watch the cartoons that often is probably easier to forgive and forget.
I have lowered my expectations for the mp line, it makes it a whole easier just to accept what they make.
DELTAprime & drifand: I dare say that you may be in the minority of fans who want MPs to be dogmatically accurate to just one medium, and it seems that many others are satisfied to have HasTak "cherry pick" what they consider to be the best from different media. The majority of respondents on this poll have indicated that they are not frustrated with any perceived fluctuations in visual accuracies. So it seems that MPs are catering for what the majority of fans want.
