As much as I don't like the Bay films, a series that actually 'fleshes out' the robot characters from the movies might be a good idea. I fear that whatever they end up doing won't be as good as Animated.

If it's a rebranding of TFA I'd be a happy man. However, I hope it's not based off of the movies.
Further more is it going to be traditional, flash/vector or CG? Before anyone baulks at the idea of it being in Flash, the 1st season of Chaotic was done in Flash and it looked really good. Then they went and did the 2nd season in an "anime" style and it looks wretched
anything CG would be <'insert smiley face!'>
must be a G1 continuity, not a reboot of G1, movie , animated or beast wars
I'd really like to see a new cartoon based on the Classics/Universe line, with the story picking up where the G2 comics ended and building elements toward Beast Wars; possibly building to the ultimate climax where the Autobot-Decepticon conflict is concluded with the signing of the Pax Cybertronia.
I see where you're coming from, but for the most part we've already been told that story.
Do we want to keep recycling the same narrative, or try to introduce some new narratives like Animated (and BW/BM) did?
I actually think we're ready for something completely new (well, I am). Adventure and exploration in which Optimus and Megatron may occasionally feature, but the story doesn't revolve around them. Introduce some authentically new characters, doing authentically new things. The setting is broad enough to accomodate this.
People won't accept it readily; remember the outrage when Star Trek: TNG started? (well, some of you probably don't actually). People called it a travesty and a debasement of ST, and some people still feel that way. Many refused to accept a series where Kirk wasn't in command of the Enterprise. On the other hand, some people actually thought it was better (or at least, enjoyed it more) than TOS.
I can't see Hasbro being that brave, but I don't think it would hurt to have a spin-off type series that follows a different group of Transformers as they do things that are not necessarily always Goodies vs. Baddies. Plenty of other shows have done spin-off series that work within the same fictional universe - why can't we? For some reason we're stuck in this reboot loop.
This would be an excellent move, so therefore; Hasbro will never do it.
My guess they will come up with something that fits loosely (and I mean loosely) between the TF1 and ROTF movies, with Sam Witwicky as the main character.
Think Ben 10: Alien Force but with Sam, and some Autobots instead.
my guess is simple... it'll feature a whole slew of characters which has G1 based flavoring mixed in it, to appeal to oldie fans but mostly be a new storyline , a new TF lore ( an alternate universe mayhaps - like TFA is) where Hasbro will have ample moving ground to introduce new characters and thus sell these new figures based on these new characters:). As much as we want character development, adult-child appealing storylines, story direction and all that hoohaa , Hasbro IS a toy company, as much as toons is their way, well one way, they promote their product, it's still all about the toys. So gimmicks galore, blatant commercials every ten seconds, gawdy eyecatching colors. Period.
Transformers The Next Generation: The Adventures of Skids and Mudflap.
Skids and Mudflap, assisted by the US Army and a few unimportant other Autobots, must battle the evil Testicles (pronounced test-i-clees), his lieutenant Megatron, and their league of evil Fartbots, who all share a small number of spikily generic bodies and live in the Library Dimension of Doom. They have turned Optimus Prime into Nemesis Prime, a black-repaint boticidal undead psychopath who kills helpless victims and tears off their faces. They are also help by Browniewoman, who is really Sam's mum and who gains super powers whenever she eats a brownie a la Bananaman (except not voiced by the Goodies), and by the Arceebots (who die in every episode in a Kenny-esque fashion). Sam and Mikaela are there too but mostly to run away, or die and be revived because they're actually the last of the Jedi, hidden and separated at birth by Obi-Wan Kenobumblebee to keep them from their evil father Darth Starscream. Every episode is at least 30% explosions, with coherent plot and character development being a noticeably lower priority.
I'm betting on yet another Allspark-centred reboot along the lines of liegeprimes' prediction, which probably won't be as good as Animated.
