the DS isn't region locked. So you can play any game from anywhere on any DS
Unless there is a Japanese version of the game then it really isn't anything special

I hope the rumours are true. I want an Arcee that's all chromed up. ;)
I don't really care if Arcee is chromed or not, but considering that the Hasbro version is going to be a TRU exclusive in the States and we've yet to receive any news/confirmation as to whether or not Hasbro Australia will bring it here, a TakaraTOMY version might just be easier to obtain.
True, if it does come out in Japan as ordinary retail item and not TRU exclusive like in US then we get a better chance in getting it thru that source and not have to bleed our pockets trying to buy from extortionist prices it will certainly generate once it's scalped heavily in US TRU branches:mad:
Takaratomy's website now has an Animated section.
So, yeah looks like it is a go now.
[QUOTE=GoktimusPrime;...although it does state that the Animated DS game can be played on a Japanese DS; N.B.: I know nothing about DS so please don't haze me if this is blazingly obvious :p).[/QUOTE]
No your information is correct as NDS games aren't region locked :)
Details on the JP dubbing of the Animated cartoon, including the credits song and some of the Voice Actors (including ones that have been involved in Transformers before).

The opening theme will be sung by JAM Project, members of JAM Project such as Hironobu Kageyama and others have also done songs for past Transformers series.
Additionally, Takahasi Hiroki, Kishio Daisuke, Akesaka Aatomi and Wakamoto Norio will be voicing Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Sari, and Megatron respectively. Most of the dub cast have worked on Transformers characters in the past, such as Kicker from Super Link, who was also voiced by Kishio Daisuke, and Flame Convoy from Galaxy Force who now shares Megatron's voice. To view the source, click here.
Only one of those voice actors have done Transformers before; Wakamoto Norio who voiced Flame Convoy in Galaxy Force.
Some typos:
Takahasi Hiroki = Takahashi Hiroki (高橋広樹)
Akesaka Aatomi = Akesaka Satomi (明坂聡美)

Kageyama FTW! :D
If anybody hasn't seen this already, the same website was updated earlier with chromed-up finishes for some of the original TFA line.

Most distinctive and interesting moulds receiving the Takara-finish seems to be Voyager Optimus Prime, Deluxe Bumblebee, Voyager Bulkhead, Deluxe Ratchet, and Voyager Cybertronian Megatron.
Very intriguing to find a beautiful turquoise Voyager Bulkhead; rather unlike Takara to be actually deviating away from Hasbro's/Cartoon Network's original olive-green complexion for Bulkhead, and opting for beauty rather than show-accuracy. Looks rather royal :D
Personally I've got high hopes for Takara's quality control standards, and wished that they could have released such a line sooner - I've already got 97%(?) of the TFA line, less the unreleased stuff and less Activators (but including Bumblebee and Cliffjumper). :'''(
TFW2005 has some galleries of some of the Japanese TFA toys-Bulkhead, Shockwave, Grimlock, Starscream, and Lugnut.
I think I prefer the original Hasbro versions. Either the changes are too minimal to really notice (Shockwave), or they make the toys LESS show-accurate rather than more (Bulkhead's turquoise, Starscream's random shiny blue, Grimlock being GEEWUN).
