This is certinally interesting news.
Was expecting a Decepticon, but I guess we have to wait a tad longer for a non seeker mold to join the ranks.
Hope he is cheaper (these $150US+ MPs are getting rather expensive) and in scale with the new scale set by MP-8/9/10/11
Possible repaints are already making me drool over the red Sideswipe -- thinking Police.
I'm up for this.
I would imagine that the finished toy wouldn't be that big to stay 'in-scale' with the newer Masterpieces, though; the vehicle mode wouldn't be much bigger (if at all) than MP Hot Rod. Hopefully, if this is the case, it'll help to keep the end price from going too high...

This is a bit disappointing. Maybe if they can do a redeco into Breakdown I'll consider buying it.
My only complaint is that it is not Prowl. Other than that I am pretty damm happy about this new MP. Either way it is not a "new" seeker or Prime mold so for that I am forever grateful.
Wow, this is a surprise, but a good one. As others have mentioned I would of expected some other characters to get the MP treatment first.
Anyway, can't wait to see some actual preview photos of this later in the year.

Depends on the repaint. Sideswipe repainted/retooled as Red Alert, Deep Cover, Tigertracks and Clampdown would definitely work because those G1 toys are all repaints/retools of G1 Sideswipe anyway (it's the same as say repainting MP Starscream into Skywarp and Thundercracker - simple but it works).Quote:

Given the size of the latest MP's Grimlock, OP and Starscream MP size for Sideswipe should only be a head or so taller than a Binaltech.

I know there are too many bumblebee's but if they could maybe make them half price and keep them in scale sort of, half-size. They could release twin packs, bb and cliffjumper (hubcap and bumper too) and the rest of the minibots.
They could do all the combiners, Breakdown 1st:D if you like.

Oh i forgot prowl and jazz. Jazz yes. Prowl? ....the datsun 280 has not aged well, but you still get bluestreak, smokescreen and silverstreak from that mold... tough one. if they could modernize the body a bit, but then it's not g1..:confused: .....I'd deal with it
Same with ironhide/ratchet, but really, it's a van...fatten it up, mags, lower it, it could look alright.
then Inferno, Grapple and you might be able to squeeze Hotspot out too

As for licensing, TOMY has got Lamborghini licensing in the past, so I don't see why getting it for TFs is an issue.
