I can understand the solid boxes looking more like adult collectables, but the angular plastic packaging that they've been doing in the past is very nice on display, and even shows off the toy from most sides... so I don't know why they changed that.
I would think the new style would be more expensive to pack.
unfortunately the next Hasbro masterpiece won't be sunstorm but grimlock...
MP03

feels like a slap on my face now by buying the flame sword version.
this is crap.
Then again THIS MEANS ONE Thing, MP-10 to be rebooted, so stuff seeking for those now, it will be released again if they are going this route.
I am thinking price around $150 mark? Man....should have held back but oh well, I didn't pay way too expensive.
I want Sun storm or mp-10
Just surprise us again Hasbro and bring out redwing , or hotlinks or bitstream !!! any of them will do !! Acid storm was a brilliant move to be ahead of takara on the masterpiece line for once and then again with all the tape included with MP soundwave as a second ....
So whats the deal with this news? Sun Storm project canned? Or delayed to be MP-04? The numbering will confuse people as well.
There are usually 2 MPs a year, doesnt mean we won't get Sunstorm.
Sideswipe was on the leaked Hasbro database, so we could still have Sunstorm, as it was only recently discovered in the American TRU database. Acid Storm and Soundwave were released close together, so maybe Sunstorm will be released with Grimlock.
They didn't show off everything at Toyfair, and they never show off store exclusives unless they have a reason (as it isn't fair to other retailers who aren't allowed to order it), but since the theme this year is Dinosaurs, they showed off the MP Grimlock with all the other Dinosaur toys.
The show is for retailers after all, not fans... so the MP Grimlock on display was not to announce itself as new product, but to act as an incentive to other retailers that this is the year of the Dinosaurs, and that if they want to benefit as much as TRU will (with their Grimlock exclusive), then they had better order more of the other Dinosaur toys to compete.
And Prowl, complete with TrU product details.
I like that they are re-relesing MP Grimlock, like the asia release version it will most likely be a lot cheaper than the ridiculous prices MP-08 and it's concurrent hasbro release are being flogged for on eBay.
it's a great opportunity for more people to get old of a good figure. Hopefully MP soundwave and Prime might see a re-release further down the track take a little wind out of the scalpers sails.
MP sunstorm having a western release is great for the same reason, although I picked that guy up already from Takara:D
Yeah, but imagine anyone trying to get a TRU MP Rodimus, when they were being cleared out for something like $60 or less.
I'm one of those people who bought the Cybertron-Con Grimlock and *shrugs*, money wise, it sucks, but it's not like re-issues and new production runs aren't a pretty common factor in Transformers, and Masterpieces.
Sad fact is I kinda like the new deco on Grimlock. #mustabstain
This went under the radar and not happening?
Sigh, I'm still waiting for a Masterpiece Dirge - then I can compare the first TF I ever got to where the engineering is now :)
As it became quiet, I managed to find Sunstorm at reasonable price so I purchased it. wanted to wait for this but I figured the takara one I paid is just probably $40 more was reasonable.
I'm still waiting for an MP Bitstream so I can complete my MP Rainmakers!

*Yes, I know that Sunstorm is arguably not a Rainmaker, but he is in the Gokiverse :p
