I'm not keen on partsforming either. This is supposed to be masterpiece FFS.

More information from the designers has been released. The hip panels can rotate around to the back. The extra piece is seperate and does not form part of the van.
Is still plastic it should not be over priced
Thank God for that... Looking at the pictures I was pretty let down by the reveal simply because the hip panels were a massive distraction for me. If they are around the back I won't mind as much. If they can tuck or blend in further it would be fantastic.
Looking forward to more pictures in the future!
Too right and in light of which, the kibble on hips are even less of a bother to me now. :)
I actually kind of wish the old Diaclone Battle Platform WAS part of MP Ironhide...
Guess I'll just have to be satisfied with what TakTom offers in the rebooted 2016 Diaclone line, eh?
He looks the biz, I'm impressed how they managed to make the van convert into such a simple looking kibble free robot (from the front). I wonder how much he will cost? Less than that recently announced Third Party Ratchet I hope. I dread the local Toys R Us price though.
And boy does he have a huge crotch, It doesn't bother me so much because Ironhide is such a manly guy, and aside from his chest window and head, that's pretty much his only distinguishing feature in bot mode.

Don't forget Diaclone colour Ironhide, Taktom must get maximum repaints for all these guys.
Put his IDW head on, and move him to the CHUG shelf, that's where mins is, he never looked MP enough in bot mode anyway (too much detail).
The worst kept secret has now been revealed... but that hasn't made it any less awesome... :D
Loving it :p
Not all the pics on google for nissan vanette show a badge on the front either, maybe it's not supposed to be there for this model anyway. Some that do show it have it in a spot that'd interfere with the autobot logo too, so that might be the reason.
Yup :)
Also, actual product may vary. ;)
I wasn't able to hear it clearly on my first view of the video but then I watched it again and they said Cherry Vanette so this will definitely be a licensed van after all :D

I think that picture also highlighted (for me) what else I found odd about the figure. I would much prefer a clear windshield/windows, and that may in turn make the window kibble underneath the forearms less noticeable.
Either way, happy to see Ironhide getting released!
maybe the windows are coloured to not be so see-through in bot mode?
Don't care one bit for Ironhide but am really excited for the Ratchet retool!
If you look closely at some of the pics, you can see an image appearing on Ironhide's chest as he's using his Sonodar. Perhaps the windshield isn't transparent in order to cater for this gimmick.
Well spotted, but I'm guessing that the windscreen actually is transparent and you can slip in a picture on a card behind it that will show up when you look right at the windscreen.
Look at the pictures that show all his accessories. To the left of the red display/storage panel is the radar dish, and below that is an object that has a pattern like the one that appears on Ironhide's chest. I think that object is a card that slides or is placed behind the windscreen in robot mode.
The scan image appears to be glowing, which may suggest something like an LED gimmick in the chest to illuminate it. This is just pure speculation based on blown up blurry phone pics from a projection image. It's really too early to tell.
Really can't wait to get my hands on this...looks great!!
No led gimmick. It is just blue glass

Video Translation (also posted in speculation thread):
It's been years since I lived in Japan, so don't shoot me if I got anything wrong as my Japanese is a bit rusty:
Slide 1: They talk about the initial concept/first point for Ironhide: Which, obviously, was to create a small scale van that fits in Prime's trailer, while also being able to scale up to a large robot.
Slide 2: It seems he wants to rush through this slide: "Please look at this, got it? Next".
Slide 3: Ironhide is an arms / combat specialist so he comes with lots of optional parts
At 6:54: let's look at the thing.
Yuki-san's speech is a bit harder to understand. He basically explains that the tray carries the options in a way that you can display them. It's a very important part.
At 7:21 The presenter talks vehicle mode: a nissan vanette. I missed a couple of details.
at 7:34 the presenter mentions the head specifically. I think he's saying that the change from the original diaclone toy to this shape is impressive? Hope someone can help me with this bit...
Next Ratchet
I hope Jazz, Hound and mirage will make it and that's it for my main mp line.
New images from Seibertron and it is confirmed a licensed Nissan Cherry Vanette but im concerned more on the box size :D

Something's still not doing it for me. It doesn't feel the same as say Prowl or Sideswipe, even Bumblebee.
10,000jpy? Or less ?
Will buy it as is one in my list
I think his proportions arent as pretty as the datsuns or lambos but i guess thats how ironhide looks in G1.
Seeing these photos leaves me impressed by the engineering going into the transformation - the van transforms into that robot while having barely any visible van parts.
People are complaining about the hip panels, the tyres, and here I am, impressed that there aren't more van parts visible.
Some people just wont be satisfied until Stephen Hawking and the team at CERN produce a toy that not only is 100% cartoon accurate, but also mass shifts to suit scale and is priced at ¥5500 :roll eyes:
Sure, Hasui had some good designs, but he also aped most of the G1 transformations and added his own flair to it. I think that Ironhide turned out fine considering what Hisao had to work with
One important thing I notice the MP Developers strive for is the characters iconic silhouette if you look at his proportions side on they have nailed it perfectly.
the front view looks little funny to me, I think it's the position of the arms.
I think it look s fantastic and I love that the show features like arm attachments and flight pack have been worked into the design. Can't wait.
DaimChoc has reposted some test shots.
With two or so weeks to go before release, you'd think there'd be a leaked production figure rather than test shots...
By the way, love the pic with the manky coffee cup!
as this is a regular release Hasbro Asia should be having these as early as next week. at this point we should be getting some in hand photos yet we only get test shots
hopefully it wont get delayed since TT has not posted any changes in release date atm.
