You Sir, have just opened a can of worms :p:D

The Masterpiece Bumblebee figure is an ingenious and incredibly fun piece of design and engineering, wholly worth reissuing as many times as the steel molds will allow.
This red punch-buggy doesn't do much for me personally, so I'll be passing over him; whilst he does have historical G1 ties in both toy & cartoon forms, I'd be much more inclined to buy a repaint in "The People's Car" Black, a Bugbite (White with Purple Highlights) as well as a Wasp (2-tone Green with Purple Optics)! ;):D
There's nothing "lazy" here at all, apart from comments resultant from a lack of education on the subject.
(I look forward to the inevitable Ultra Magnus and Star Saber repaints as I'm curious as hell to see what they'd end up being; Powered Convoy? count me in, even more so if it's released under Dialcone: Reboot! :D)
I actually have a red Bbee so tempted to get this to compliment it, but like most recolours into alt-versions of the same character my budget will not allow it
I had a pretty awesome Golf GTi in Most Wanted.
Keep in mind we've gone from getting one new release (including repaints) every 1-2 years to one release a month. Looking back over the last 2-3 years, Takara have milked every mound for repaints. It should be no surprise it is still happening. It will happen with the next mould. And the next. And the next. Prepare yourself now to avoid disappointment.
I will be getting the red MP BB... But that's cause I am a MP whore :p
I am starting to build up a nice little Diaclone MP collections and the Red BB fits in very well.
I am happy for Takara to keep pumping out repaints/retool of all moulds so that it will pay for new ones. :p
I dunno, it just seems like a quick stop gap release, since they didn't show this off at all at the recent toy shows.
I read on TFW someone heard Ironhide might be getting some aspects redesigned (and thus probably delayed), so perhaps they're throwing this out as a bone. I'm also not surprised, just... not interested!
Indeed. I personally grew up seeing more red Bumblebees (and yellow Cliffjumpers) in the 80s than yellow ones (and likewise red Cliffies were rare where I grew up). :o
Also, when TakaraTOMY announces a blue Bluestreak, people get excited. But announce a red Bumblebee and people lose their minds. :p
I will be grabbing this one, even if they don't release a CJ. Maybe the 3P's will do a release Of a CJ head for it???
Also keep in mind that redecos and minor remoulds are a necessary evil if you don't want to be paying significantly more for your Transformers toys.
"Milking" is really only applicable if there have been several uses of a mould and a new redeco is hard to explain or has little or no history as a toy character (like black redecos, themed redecos, or more specifically, Acid Storm/Sunstorm versions of any Seeker mould once they've done the basic three).
The first two or three uses of a mould is what keeps it below a certain price-point... and if they are different established characters, it's not as bad as a fourth or fifth redeco that has a weird colour-scheme to it.
31 uses to a mould... now THAT is milking.
It's looking a lot better than I thought red would look on this mould. Still a pass.
Even with a different head, Bumblebee's body/alt mode is still substantially different from Cliffjumper. It'd just be a red Bumblebee with Cliffjumper's head. :o I can accept this for non G1 Cliffjumpers (e.g. Animated, Alternity etc.), but when it comes to the exacting standards of Masterpiece, I would only accept an MP Cliffjumper if he were done properly; i.e. retooled to give him the Porsche 924 body. And I wouldn't blame TakTOM if they re-released MP Cliffjumper in yellow, since it's been around since 1984.

It probably wouldn't be viable for TakaraTOMY to retool the mould again with the Mazda 323 body for an MP Bumblejumper. Maybe that's where the third party makers might focus their efforts on. ;)
avail now at premium collect for 55 bucks! Couldn't find evidence of them doing an announcement for it beforehand.
I can imagine that someone somewhere is looking forward to the prospect of having a multicoloured swarm of Masterpiece Bumblebees.
Oh. I was thinking of Most Wanted 2012, not the original Most Wanted from 2005. I just looked up a car list :p
Good point about the use of multiple releases on one mould keeping costs down. Also, I imagine any profits from this thing potentially go towards R&D on new moulds, right?
I don't have an MP Bumblebee, but I would imagine it would have to be a very heavy retool to make an MP Cliffjumper out of it. The side profiles are very different:

Fair point. That might rule out the possibility of being able to retool MP Bumblebee as Cliffjumper at all, which would further justify why TakaraTOMY are trying to milk more from the Bumblebee mould with the G2 and red MPs. Wouldn't surprise me if they did Bug Bite, Glyph and more. Cliffjumper would definitely have to be retooled as Hubcap to help recoup the cost of developing that mould, then probably a G2 MP Hubcap.
$55 is bloody cheap.
is it an asia exclusive or will Anime export an HLJ get him ?
I can understand people not getting excited by this and the urge too save money by forgoing this, but for a minibot variant hunter this is great.
Red Bumblebee , depending on the shades of red it could either represent one of the various red G1 Bumblebees
From lightest too darkest , Mexican -> Argentinian --> U.S
The Microchange (Japan) and Estrela (Brazil) fit somewhere in between the Argentinian and U.S version.
Maybe the lighting conditions are crap but there are visual differences when in hand

$55 is a good price i suppose. If they do end up doing all the colours, the novelty of collecting all of them is kind of appealing at that price.
Is HLJ not getting him or have I missed the preorder?
It's an exclusive for somewhere in Japan, so isn't a regular release MP toy... so isn't likely to show up on HLJ.
It is noted as a "Satellite" exclusive, but like other JP exclusives, it looks to be having a release in Asia as well... so probably best to try a HK source.
Still available for preorder here:

I bit the bullet and preordered from Robot Kingdom this morning. Wanted to take advantage of this mini rally in the $A. Also prepaid an order from NY since the AUDJPY is also up a little.
Repurposing mine as G1 Stinger, need some Decepticon Stickers
TFW member Type-R has posted pics everyone has been waiting for! Box!!
Looks like someone at Takara has some 1337 digibashing skills. Out with Spike, move Bee a few steps and crunch that RGB palette. Of the 3 BBs this has the least inclusions. Was it much cheaper?

Finally, some official images.
For all these months, all the online stores and new sites have been using the small scans from a hobby magazine from months ago.
Nice shade of red. Still a super lame release.
Anyone still catching up with this one? PC has reopened preorders

Thanks for the heads up, but i'll be passing on this one I think. If I was a VW enthusiast I'd be all over it like custard on Christmas pudding.
Awesome, with this I've finally secured the last MP I needed to pre-order.
