My dream as a kid only able to look from the glass cabinet at the counter in a toy store... May be it is time to look at it in MY glass cabinet :D
Excuse my ignorance but i came late to the party. I thought Mad Toys was getting a voltron license for a rerelease of king of beasts? Is this one licensed? Is there only these two on the market?
Might be canned. Been told no ETA for mad toys.
Mainly bandai one is Definately licensed as they have the money to do it, also broke all theories about bandai not going to get this made.
Mad toys imo looks better proportion . But no point for me to get one since I wanted a bandai one ages ago.
Is sold out everywhere for bandai golion.
It's crazy, on the product page for GX-71 - http://tamashii.jp/item/11469/?lmode=en - it says the original Chogokin Voltron (at 9800Y) sold over 430000 units!
Re: licensing...I wonder if this is the ONLY Voltron that'll actually get released? I Just think WEP probably invited Toynami, Mad Toys and Bandai to see what they could do without promising anything. I guess Toynami's is likely to release though, considering they have that black exclusive one.
Maybe WEP finally realised they could give the license to all of them and make even more money...
To be honest you can't go wrong with mad toys or soc.
Imo the individual lions looks better with bandai
PC's listing is now open -- AU$350.
Some live images from SDCC 2016.
Looks very blockish. Hmm...
Yeah, the blockiness doesn't help his stunted torso...
now I have to decide to cancel the madtoys black version and get this instead or not.
Comparison of cartoon model with GX-71. Turns out Voltron did have a big blocky chest a lot of the time... I was looking through lots of screenshots from http://voltarchive.animation-web.com/ (creator of this site used to be a member here).

I think in another sense, they've also gone for "SoC aesthetic"... that is to say, he looks pretty consistent with the simple stylings of the other big combiners they've released.

My preorder is in anyway... with any luck, the last Voltron i'll ever have to buy. Who am i kidding :o
Since they've made Voltron GX-71 before announcing what GX-70 will be... it'll probably end up being a recolour, so maybe a chance to get one of the older combiners.
Good points kurt about it being screen accurate. I guess it was just being adjusted to mad toys voltron I was expecting the same.
Godsigma has not been reissued whereas godmas deltanius had.
They are missing a lot of potential soc as gurren Leggan would easily be a seller which I bought the konami one as I didn't bother to wait. Guardian is missed, and s lot of sentai combining are missed
I do prefer the blue lion on this one as it pops. High chance of me displaying it as individual lions.
I think soc has slowed down way too much almost like one or two a year.
Now this is a good pose!

Btw numbers looks to be decals as shown in tamashii web
And this is called Voltron not golion on the stand.
Dengeki Hobby got a look at a verrry loose test shot at Wonderfest:

Shows the diecast content - the announcer says it's heavy, but it doesn't look like it has as much as KoB. It looks like the connections will be pretty solid. Yellow and Blue Lion appear to have midsection joints, which should be good for posing Voltron - they also have fold out heelspurs for more balance. Lion heads look to have much more movement too
Btw the last 20 minutes of this vid has some Super Ginrai and Diaclone prototype footage too
Very loose test shot is an understatement lol, I guess their only good copy was sent to SDCC
$&@!!!
I just went to preorder and Premium Collectibles has sold out. HLJ is on order stop too.
I am Jack's bitter disappointment :(
Glad I got my pre order in! Looks great.
That cool pose.
That shiny sword.
Those black lion ears not correctly set up.....
Almost

Me likey.
I hope with all these pre-orders selling out everywher, they then go and make us a Legendary Defenders Votron SOC.
I love the look of that guy!
I guess as soon as Netflix make it available in Japan, Japanese ppl will go for it too!
Apparently Playmates has the license for Legendary Defender toys next year. Only took half an episode before I was a googlin' for that info! You weren't half wrong, it's a pretty dang good show! Just the right amount of homage and some awesome new designs... Though I could do without comic relief butler guy and his accent!
Bandai though, they can keep themselves busy with a Vehicle Voltrom please :)
If anyone has a spare and would like to sell, I'll take it.
Playmates license for legendary defender... That doesn't fill me with confidence, he says as he looks over his half painted Ninja Turtles toys from playmates.
I have my official Vehicle VOltron thanks. Don't want to double up on too many of these pricey buggers.
I like the butler. ALthough he is a BIT over the top. I think Lance provides a decent amount of comic relief, but I'm glad he's there. The butler is voiced by Rhys Darby, from Flight of the Conchords.
Slightly off topic, but LD I think is a rather well paced show. Leaving it at that to avoid spoilers.
Someone has taken a stack of close up photos of the display here. Christmas seems so far away :(
YouTube review.
Don't like that guy.
But that Voltron is looking mighty fine! The lions legs are on ball joints so they have outward movement!! And they can sit. I'm pumped.
I didn't watch the transformation because I want to see how they do it myself but it seems pretty solid.
Matt alt is a well known vintage Japanese toy collector, my brother knows him well. Unfortunately he is paid not to bash the toy. So it is a bias review.
One thing was the hand lions tails are recommended to be removed.
A bit of a downer actually. Bandai says don't do it even if can.
Sadly I am very against bias reviews it sets the wrong expectations when you get the toy. I know of such reviewer who just talks about the plus side and brainwashed you in buying it.
Not sure he even touched the madtoys version as anyone here will compare it against soc.
Jebus the soc power rangers is so expensive and I don't even feel as excited as this piece here.
Same retail price, but yeah for some reason the stores are charging more, 1500Y more at Amiami according my Voltron preorder. I went through that Rakuten checkout for Megazord so quick i didn't even notice (the price, or evidently which store i was actually buying it from :o )
Good thing i did though, one day after showing up, and now anywhere that still has stock is charging whatever they want.
Can't say I'm liking the Playmates Legendary Defender release.
Maybe if it was $50...
