Up at the Lego shop (but not for sale yet):

Considering that there's MOCs out there that have full interiors (some of them quite accurate) I think those little small rooms are a bit of a disappointment.
Maybe they're saving a full interior for 10 years time??? :p
Agreed. I could like with $1000 but that is a bit much.
I think it will be really interesting to see how this sells - it's a beautiful thing, no doubt about it, but I wonder if they've finally crossed a price/size threshold...
At $1299, they should have just rounded it up to $1300.
1300 dollars would be right up there with the Saturn V having 1969 pieces :D
Well people, tonight's the night! Goes on sale anytime between midnight and 8am.
:( Despite waiting so long for the re-release, I can't justify purchasing it at this moment. I don't think they'll sell like hotcakes (if previous sets are anything to go by), so with luck I'll pick one up at a brick and mortar store in the future.
Got one! :cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool:
Did you go on the US site?
it went up at 3:30 pm. I had work and couldn't really duck out to get one on my phone haha. I think I might wait and see if it will show up at myer or big w etc.
Obviously I was too late then.
Nice one, Trent!! When do you plan to build it?
I think he will build it when we can all go around to his place at the same time and help.
So on Sunday morning I went down to Chadstone to queue up for their release. The Legoland Discovery Centre had 45 sets available. I got there a bit after 5am and there was a smallish handful of people hanging around one of the doors and it slowly built up. Around 5:45 I think a security guard came over and opened the door to tell us that they will open up at 7am, nobody is to hang around in front of the door and block it up, we need to move over and sit down somewhere and if they see anyone who had snuck in somehow they would be removed. He seemed a bit grumpy haha. This was only at one entrance, there would have been people at 2 or 3 other entrances nearby also.
Just after 6 one guy turns up with a chair and a little portable trolley. He walks past everyone and starts waving at the door to see if it will open. People start talking about what the security guard said but he basically ignored it all and plonked his chair down in the middle right in front of the door. This triggered a bit of a panic surge I think and everyone just crowded in. I decided to skip it and go home after that! Even after the doors to the centre open at 7am the actual shop wasn't opening until 8:30. I figured I couldn't be bothered now risking the other 2.5 hours plus race up the stairs to not get anything and left. So I came away empty handed but I am (mostly lol) ok with that as I know it isn't a super limited release and these are just early woes after the online launch.
To top it off of course a bunch of these sets from that morning went up on gumtree and ebay for inflated prices straight away. We know this because they included the tickets the shop handed out for the people in the line
I can't blame you. If I had to line up I'd never have bothered. I was lucky in that I was at work, in front of my computer when it went up so I ordered then went home.
I know why they included the trolley now. I weighed the box and it came in at 15kgs
Bleh, screw the scalpers, they need to DIAF.
For those interested it seems like there is currently stock of the Lego UCS Millennium Falcon in their online shop.
I saw some people talk about it on FB. I actually got one a little while ago! The centre in Chadstone did a hat-draw raffle and my name got pulled out so headed on down and picked one up. It is huge. I really want to build it but there is literally nowhere for it to go lol :(
That is exactly the same way my mate from work got one and exactly the reason he hasn't built it yet.
Dang, such a tease - if you search up Star Wars on the LegoShop website, it will come up as a search result with an "add to bag" button that doesn't work.
That is because it is out of stock again. I must have accidentally caught the small window of new stock.
I am having a nasty feeling about ordering this.
I ordered on the 11th of Dec and it apparently arrived in Australia on the 26th of Dec. It has been stuck with customs ever since.
I have a bad feeling as it is over $1k, they are going to sting me for import duties. I dare anyone to actually find any usable information on the Customs website but I think it may be a 5% tariff on top of the purchase price. If it is on top of the overseas fees for my CC, it is basically another 9.5% on top of the purchase price. Best to try and source it locally if that ends up being the case.
There was a bit of info on this in one of the Lego FB pages. No one confirmed about paying additional import taxes but some did say they were in a similar situation and it was due to it being delivered by a different carrier called DAI Post. Might take longer to clear in his case but some have been able to get it released faster by calling DAI.

Thanks mate. I don't do Facebook and when I looked up the tracking info I saw DAI but they looked like a wholesaler of freight. I will have a read and give them a try.
Very much appreciate the tip.
What’s the likelihood of this getting a normal Australian store release?
It would be at least 6 to 12 months I would say.
The UCS Snowspeeder has appeared on Big W's website but they have not had stock yet. It was released on the 4th of May.
Stuff ordered from S@H is notorious for vanishing for weeks on end during shipping. The lead theory is that it sits at Lego's warehouse in Alexandria. It usually goes AWOL for about 3 weeks. Given the holiday period, I would expect that to go up to 4-5 weeks.
I wouldn't be worried if I were you. My Falcon didn't show any tracking movement for 3 weeks, then showed up at my door. I recently used the VIP points I got from the Falcon purchase to buy a Christmas present for my son. I ordered mid November, no tracking updates and then it got delivered Wednesday before Christmas.
And no, I didn't get charged any customs duties on my Falcon. S@H is an Australian online store. Lego pay all import duties.
Thanks Trent. At least the sick feeling has gone from my stomach.
