How very interesting. That's a thorough breakdown -exactly what I was looking for comparison purposes. Its definitely made me rethink how I feel about Cliff.

Some more leaks for Kindom as well as the 86 movie Studio Series figures. Looking at this leak, plus the old leak of Cyclonus I feel the MP is completely dead to me.

Yeah, that SS86 is a show-accurate G1 line is now almost a certainty. It seems like Takara / Hasbro are OK with having two lines (MP and SS) with similar aims (show accuracy and scale) but at different price points.
As for SS86 Hot Rod, I think the bot mode looks animation accurate but alt mode resembles more of Animated series than G1 Hot Rod. MP-09 was decent in both modes but had bad QC and Hot Rod mode was in the wrong scale. MP-28 had a perfect alt mode but blocky bot chest. Can't we get a perfect G1 Roddy? :(
I'm keen for a clearer look at these SS86 figures. I detect a whiff of a fake chest on the leaked Hot Rod imagine, which is a big no from me.
I'd say three lines, WFC is doing show accuracy and scale too.
I have a concern that the SS86 line wont scale with Earthrise because that will really annoy me. I mean do I buy Netflix Bumblebee or wait for SS86 Bumblebee? Will SS86 Jazz be too tall to stand next to Earthrise Prowl? Will there be another set of seekers in the SS86 line!?
I think that they'll keep scale with the WFCE stuff. It's not the first time that they've shunted releases that should have been in one line sideways into another line just to get them to shelves - at the tail end of the 2007 Movie Line we had those repaints of AEC Figures and Classics Mirage that were meant to be for the Universe 2.0 line, and the Reveal the Shield figures were meant to be in Generations but there was no room for them there so they ended up in the movieverse technically.
The Hot Rod looks absolutely fantastic, makes me quite excited for Gnaw and the dinobots. Galvatron is rumoured to be a leader class, probably in Kingdom, but he may end up voyager sized with some extras. Cyclonus that was leaked a long while ago is super cool too, he is one of my favourite G1 designs.
I have the feeling that because of the Beast Wars stuff, they’ve moved a fair amount of the G1 1986 updates from WFC into Studio Series to make room. Earthrise is pretty much mini masterpiece at this point, I definitely wouldn’t be surprised.
Am I the only one not in awe of The Ark?
It's a ship, some form of a playset & a space ATM.
Whos the dinosaur that is a weaponiser on the back of warpath? Cant be dinobot. Transmutate?
I think it's a new character. Each part of WFC has had it's own partsforming power up characters.
The first War for Cybertron year got 'Weaponisers', the second (and current) year got the 'Modulators', next year we get the 'Fossilisers', which are all these skeletal creatures that break down to form bony armour add ons for the bigger characters. As such, it's likely to be a made up, or tertiary level, Beast Wars character.
That Hot Rod has a fake chest and I'm going to repeat a comment that got disdainful responses at least four times on TFW - thats not good enough. It makes the figure an instant non purchase.
So this is 2 Leaks now, 1 Kup.
I respect your decision not to buy it, but I would like to point out this wouldn't be a first for Studio Series using fake vehicle parts on bot modes for screen accuracy. They've done it with live action designs, so I don't see why G1 would be any different.
That said, I'm gonna be annoyed if we do start getting G1 stuff in Studio Series. From the '86 figures I've seen in Earthrise and now the SS leaks I'm genuinely wondering what is the difference between the two lines now? Can't we just let the live action movieverse have its own thing? Not like G1 doesn't get enough representation as it is.
So yeah, it's a legitimate effort to continue the Studio Series line and I don't see it as a bad thing as SS is the one constant thing in the TF franchise that stores get in Australia.
Deluxe waves were pretty good but Voyagers and, in particular, Leader class waves have been very slow or skipped.
There's a chance though that the buyers at the Toyfair might look at Studio Series look at Generations and they might be too similar for them to buy both?
The Studio Series has had the link to the big movies (the billion dollar successes not the animated flop from the 80s) and the realistic and licensed cars/truck angle going for it to make them stand out
G1 > Everything else.
/discussion :p
TFW2005 has photos of possible Studio Series 86 Scourge. From the unofficial images that have been leaked thus far, SS86 does look like a G1 MP junior line.
Scourge looks pretty amazing. The only downer for me is how lacklustre the vehicle mode for that design is. I remember there was a phase in the fandom about 20 years ago where it just got called the soap dish.
I actually swore at the screen when I saw the clear photos of Hot Rod. It looks stunning. I can feel how good it looks overriding my fake parts hatred.
Scourge looks incredibly and quite detailed. Definitely going to replace the Titans Return version on my shelf. Hot Rod is a stunner too, they’ve really gone all out. Hoping Kingdom Galvatron is to a similar level of care.
Oh boy, time to prepare my wallet for another troop building experience.
(moved posts and added to the topic title to cover both lots of leaks at the moment, as there seems to be a fair bit of overlap coming next year, and some of these images are in groups containing both toylines)
Images of what is claimed to be Ractonite from Kingdom... said to be a "Fossilizer".
This almost feels like it might have been a rejected concept from Beast Wars (or Beast Machines), in which the reformatting scan uses fossils (like in the first episode of Beast Wars), but instead of recreating the living form for the Predacon (or Maximal), it just replicates the actual fossils as the alt-mode.
And another leaked toy gets the full video review treatment, with what is claimed to be Hotrod from Studio Series next year - screenshots (not the video) can be seen here.
It's cool that the team at Hasbro are going through the archives and bringing back old concepts like G2 Sandstorm and now this Fossilizer. Really keen on it from what I've seen so far.Quote:

I reworded my post, as it was just speculation from me... I don't recall if that was ever an actual Hasbro concept.
Rocklords 2.0?
