games may come with new warnings:rolleyes:

You mean will come with warnings ;)
Whatever happened to people taking responsibility for their own actions? I mean sure I play games and such, but I stop after a while because there are other things to do. And because I am addicted to some games on facebook, does that mean I can sue the creators of those? :p
The guy sounds like he lives in his mums basement with no contact to the outside world :p
I know there isn't one in WA, already checked from last time the rent went up. I tell ya, land prices over hear are ridiculous! Considering the lack of services and such like housing is WAAAAAAY overpriced. I wanna buy a house, but not in WA.
Or he is looking for a quick buck.
Hopefully it will get thrown out of court, beacause that is just sad. Unless I can sue Mars for Starbursts which has gotten me onto my sugar addiction.
Seriously though, an addiction to something usually points to problems elsewhere. The games people could come back with a "Get your life balance right and you won't get addicted." Sort of motif. I think the only uncontrollable addiction would be a chemical one, so even though playing games would release endorphins or something like that, that is not really the games companies fault is it? Are all people addicted to this game that play it? No, probably not.
Sounds like the guy is a loser. I should be a lawyer!:p
You know, this reminds me of something Lemmy said in an interview (which I watched last night :p) where he said that the media focuses on the negatives basically. This was in reference to some kid blowing his brains out because he listened to a certain CD. He went on to say how many people didn't do that? The CD sold 500K and out of all that only one person died? Pretty good odds :p
You are right though, I think it has to do with his own personal life that is to blame, not the video game. It's the age old story all over again when people want to blame someone else for their own problems.
Could also be that he is just after a quick buck :p
at the moment i dont know. there's a problem which i am having trouble figuring out how to handle.
the back door's doorknob/lock had been recently replaced by the landlord. what i discovered (after the robbery) is that even if you lock it from inside, it didnt lock properly.
which is why when i came home that night it was the only door that was open plus the gate behind it.
so what should i do?
ask for compensation from the landlord? (and if he refuses, take him to court?)
If it was replaced recently by the landlord, he should have checked that it worked properly. And because it didn't, and you didn't know there was a problem with it, he is liable I think. You would need to speak to rent tribunals or someone like that to see what they say. IMO he would unlikely give you compensation, but you can always ask.
I'd suggest ask him about it first and if you don't get the response you want, seek legal advice.
yeah i had a look online and i need to consult with the OCBA rent tribunals which i will have to do in the morning.
i finally accounted for everything missing and the total loss is $4000+ approximately. All those little things added up in the end! Which made me look at my Transformers collection and think 'damn this is giving me such a headache'
i'm now organising moving back into my mums home -_-
i was paying $150 per week (for 2yrs now) and i just cant afford to find a new place which would probably be $250+
f**k my life.
I would think he is liable because he didn't get a locksmith in to do it..the question I would of asked him, are you a qualified locksmith?
I would also try and contact the local tenancy tribunal/ombudsman in your state and find out where you stand because I would think he would have a case to answer...
Dos that mean we can all sue Hasbro for our plastic crack addicting? :p:p:p:p
and then Hasbro will need to start putting label on all toy saying that this will lead to addiction, then Transfomers will come in plain packaging, and after that, they will start to put them behind the counter out of sight of little kids. :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
That's a really good point actually, I reckon it's worth a try and if you are leaving anyway, what do you have to lose?
As long as you have a police report number and stuff should be a goer I reckon. If the cops have come around and had a look, they could back up on the reaer entry option (in regards to the robbery that is):p:rolleyes:
How come when I look at ebay under the G1 section, there is a poop load of rotf and movie 1, Cybertron and many other toys that are plainly NOT g1 related, not even by name...?
What is with some people who buy things on ebay then dont contact you or give you feedback! If youve got time to buy youve got time to let the seller when you can pay etc!
I have had a constant issue with a certain buyer in perth, he has bought items several times but takes sooo long to pay or even let me know when he is going to pay! I dont mind waiting as long as they let me know.
Just a note - never had any other issues with buyers from perth :D
haha i have similar problems, i dont think it can be avoided.. other then refusung to sell to the buyer, put a clause in the listing, payment must be recieved within 7 days (unless arangements made) otherwise failure to pay blah blah blah
one thing that bugs me is when you buy something and pay instanly they dont leave feedback till after you have received the item and left feedback for the seller, now i just dont leave them feedback till they have left it for me paying promptly.....
i have probably had about 50 people fail to leave feedback over the years on eBay... it is still frustrating every time.
Yeah, can block buyers too which I am going to do if this buyer doesn't get there act together.
True, but its a buyers world, sellers can't leave negative feedback so most wait for + feedback to be recieved which is I think is fair. Some buyers leave negatives for really silly things so the seller doesn't want to give + feedback and then get a - feedback over something trivial. Ie slow postage after 1 day or item was bigger/smaller than expected.
i understand that but it should mean nothing if i win an auction and pay within ten minutes of it ending. Feed back should be left to reflect that i was paid promptly, and then they need to follow up on their service to receive positive feedback in return, its like your held to ransom.....
i delay feedback until I receive the item as a buyer. Coz I could never receive the item.
But I almost never get any feedback as a buyer until I give the seller feedback.
If I paid promptly, the seller should give me feedback right away and not wait until I give a favorable feedback before he/she gives one.
The seller is witholding feedback until the buyer gives feedback because some buyers are bastards and give negative feedback for trivial things. Or worse, claim they never recieved the item and file a dispute to get their money back thereby obtaining the item for free.
Its when sellers don't give feedback after +ve feedback has been given that I begin to get irritated.
When did Aus post become rip off merchants, i went to post a Lego Minifigure which last week cost 1 dollar in stamps the week before and this week the exact same minifigure in exactly the same packaging cost $4.55 because now you apparantly cant put a letter into the slot you have to drop it and let gravity post it for you...:mad: there goes my free postage from auctions.....
Someone in Sydney please smack Goktimus upside the head for having that current sig of his (leave brittany alone).
Yes some are. But most sellers withhold feedback.
if you look at the buyer feedback, you can see if they have had disputes in the past or claim stuff like that. I used to deposit money right away but because sellers don't post quickly and stuff could get lost in the mail and sent it thru regular post instead of registered or with insurance I got no protection.
Started using paypal especially for first time business. The next time, I'd probably trust him more but depends on the communication as well.
Some buyers also charge an exorbitant amount of postage but you can see what they actually paid for when you get the item postage cost stamped on the box. It's a beat up box and not brand new boxes so you can't say that the packaging cost money as well when you are just recycling stuff.
Doctors surgery - crying babies, coughing toddlers, people with bronchitis... In just here because I did my ankle playing football! This is not fair!
2 months waiting for brokenarrowtoys to process and post my order. Seller communicated well and responded to all emails during first month, after that grace period ( with Paypal ended) hasnt replied to my inquiry updates :(:(. To think this is my third order with them and I havent had a problem with the first 2 order - all arrived in 2 weeks tops. All items I ordered from the site said "IN STOCK" - but apparently some have to be molded as per order - how misleading!!:mad: Im pretty sure molding a small gun wont take 2 months to cure and all!! Dunno if it will help but hit him with a Paypal dispute:mad:, even if I don't get my items or my money back Im sure will be satisfied with him having a bad record with Paypal. SERVICE these days are dying - to borrow something from another thread involving transformerland:rolleyes:
Went to a screening of "The Expendables" this morning. It was supposed to start at 10:30am but the projectionist didn't start it until 11am. I was not pleased with such a late start.
If your a buyer and theres no indication an item has been sent within a few days its easy enough to open a case - same with postage costs.
Plus buyers can see the sellers feedback left for others if they are concered they are not going to get any themselves.
Overall I would give overseas buyers top marks for feedbacks and rate australian buyers/sellers the worst. :(
it's just not worth the aggravation.
I got a hdd from dick smith and died less than 6 months. Returned the item to dick smith and they said I have to return it to manufacturer since they have 5 year warranty. My general understanding is that items bought from a store at least should have 1 year warranty or whatever. They don't divulge which items have that 1 year warranty from them.
I was hassled into posting the item in specific packaging so that it isn't damage during shipping. I have to send it to a warehouse in sydney who'll send it to singapore for analysis and a replacement. I have to trouble myself to look for specific packaging which wasn't what it originally came in.
I just said f$#@ it and just threw it in the bin :(
Should've just bought it online if I have to return a faulty item thru mail and worse it's overseas.
But then you are just telling the shops that bad service is fine. I would've pushed the generl rule of electronics having a 1 yr warranty and made Dick smith do the work
I have found customer service in Australia appalling. It always annoys me whenever I get back from holiday and have to out up with such crappy shops.
Agreed. It's got to the point now where I hate dealing with shops / sales people and try to avoid them if possible.
If I can buy the same thing online, then that's what I'll do.
It's a shame. Years ago it used to be a day out with the family walking around the shops, having lunch, and maybe going to the cinemas. The whole experience is now ruined by sales assistants that think that their shit don't stink and have an over-inflated opinion about themselves and what they do *points finger at Big W Rouse Hill*
The more I type about this, the more I'm getting worked up so I just think I'll leave it there.
I wanted to buy my parnter Fallout New Vegas, the Collector's Edition the EB is running for his birthday, he's been wanting it for months. But apparently its sold out, and I can only get the standard edition :( The only way I might have a chance at getting a Collector's Edition is to go in on release day and wait to see if someone doesn't want their pack. Long shot though, who wouldn't want it? I feel terrible because I think he's got a feeling that I'm getting it for him, but he'll be so dissapointed :(
Just had a quick look, but if you really want to get it for him, I found some that would cost $189.
I'll PM ya.
