when was it revealed or explained? or is it at 'fan theory' stage?

I don't think it was ever outright explained.
In Spotlight Metroplex, he was protecting "it". I think most people assumed at the time that he was talking about the Magnificence.
In the Ironhide TPB, I think Alpha Trion said that he and Metroplex were filtering the atmosphere on Cybertron, which is what made it habitable again.
In Dark Cybertron trades, I think Windblade, Chromia, and Nautica explain that they took over the care of Metroplex from Alpha Trion. At that time Metroplex was carrying one of the ores.
So, I think it's generally just people taking 2, 2, and 2 and making 5. Until such time as John "Continuity" Barber decides to make something more of it.
ok thanks :)
Has Hasbro ever said why we have never gotten official G1 Quintessons at all? Given the fact that Hasbro is OK with releasing non-transforming Transformers toys every now and then I'd really like a full set of them. (Judge, Bailiff, Executioner, Prosecutor and Scientist.)
Non-converting toys in the mainstream action figure line tend to be marketed at infants, who would have no attachment to these characters. These characters would appeal to G1 fans, and as such the Generations line is probably the most appropriate line to release them in, but then how many non-convertible CHUGUR figures have they ever released? The only thing that came close in the mainstream action figure line was Alpha Quintesson from Transformers Energon, but that toy was never released here and I don't know how well or poorly it sold overseas (it's not a great toy :o).
I think that the Alligatorcon is definitely doable as a Generations figure. :) They could even retool TR Skullsmasher. The other Quints on the other hand would be tough, because if you gave them alt modes then it would make their Quintesson modes look less G1 accurate - cos they never transformed. But if they don't transform, then they're not going to appeal to kids - and as much as adult collectors love Generations, the line has to also appeal to children (a lot of kids at my daughter's school like to play with Generations figures - I occasionally stumble across them in the playground).
I think that the next best option for Hasbro to release G1-accurate Quintessons is release them as build figures, like what they did with Transmutate. You release a wave of toys and each figure comes with a part of say the Quintesson Judge. Collect them all to complete the Quint! :D But yeah, from a business POV I don't think it's worth it for Hasbro to release Quintessons as stand-alone action figures in the mainstream line.
The new Masterpiece Barricade - is it a new mold, a reissue of a previous mold, or we don't know yet?
Would you really give a non-transforming Transformer like a Mighty Mugg or a Titan to a infant??? I'd be looking for something age appropriate like a rattle or teething ring. As someone that works retail I'll tell you those sold to kids from 3 or 4 up to adult collectors.
Hasbro tried Build-a-droid multiple times over many years with the Star Wars line. It never worked out well for them and they have now seemingly given up on it completely. Speaking of Star Wars, that's how I think a line of Quintessons should be made. They should be a single wave of 5 Black Series 6 inch style figures if going for mass retail, or a box set if going for SDCC, HasCon or limited release retail.
I know a 3rd party made a full line of Quintessons long before the overpriced 3rd party craze took off with City Commander. I might go try to find a set of them.
It MUST be the 2007 version... with Punish and Enslave on it.
(none of this Protect and Serve rubbish)
Also, I prefer the 2007 head over the 2017 head - I guess since it was the first "live" robot head we saw clearly and up close on screen, I have an attachment to it... and it would be in the minds of anyone who was watching the 2007 movie back when it was first released.
I said...
Mighty Muggs aren't part of the mainstream action figure line - they're not even action figures. They're Transformers merchandising. TFwiki classifies Mighty Muggs under "Merchandise" and not under "Toys" (example). But don't forget that Mighty Mugg TFs were sold here in regular toy sections. :o
The word "infant" may include children up to the age of 7. Hence why Kindy to Year 2 is referred to as "infants school."
The only build Transformer that I can think of was Transmutate, and to be honest, it's rubbish. The plastic quality is weak and prone to damage. ToyBiz on the other hand used to make pretty good build figures. But anyway, I recommended build figures because I think it's the most commercially viable option for Hasbro. There's no point in expecting Hasbro to make product of something that they're unlikely to make money off.
Will Bumblebee finally have his voice box back in his own feature movie? I guess if it is an origin story it would be set prior to the first movie. I don't think I can handle watching a whole film of him with the gimmick speech.
Does anybody know if there's a hi-res scan of the TFTM poster that came with the Platinum Edition set last year? Probably can't get my hands on a legit one but if I could get it printed, that would be cool.
Has every MP been KO'd so far? While I trust most of the MPs I've gotten off members here there are some I've gotten other places that I worry about the legitimacy so I'd like to give what I have a good looking over.
Is there a up to date comprehensive list I could refer to that shows all KO'd MPs without having to do a lot of searching?
It doesn't help that it's getting harder and harder to tell the fakes from the real thing, if I could I'd never rely on forums, bst or ebay for MPs but since there are a few I've missed out on over the years it cant be helped
Perhaps someone should make a thread listing counterfeited MPs on the Alerts and ID Help section?
It would be helpful to have one thread/list that pointed to each individual KO'd MP, I like lists lol.
I'm also wondering if there arent a bunch of KO'd MPs missing from our own forums as well, for example I didn't see a thread there for the KO MP Ratchet and how to tell them apart, but the KO does exist
I personally don't pay attention to news about counterfeits as it doesn't affect me. :o But yeah, lists are great. :)
If you're looking on ebay for out of production Transformers then a up-to-date list of known KO's would be beneficial. I've often had to search through very old threads on the US fansites to try and find if a toy has been KOed, often only to find a single person claiming a KO exist with no evidence.
Yep, that's part of my reason for looking for something as well, I need a MP Smokescreen for example and having a quick browse of our own KO ID section there's nothing stating there is on in the first 5 pages of posts, yet I've seen things saying that it does exist.
And your example of KO rumours is also relevant, I've seen a lot of speculation for instance that there's a KO of MP-5 Megatron but nothing concrete.
On that topic what do people think of stores that sell KO MPs? If a store was selling both KOs and (what they claimed were) real MPs would you buy from them or go somewhere else?
Just for example, I've been looking at some items on toybento but I know that they sell KOs and "factory seconds", is it worth the risk buying something that they say is real when they openly sell fake items?
Just looking for opinions, thanks
I don't think it's worth it. I would personally look to shop from a more reputable seller who doesn't dabble in counterfeit rubbish.
Quick poll.
I have three shelves that are "G1 cartoon" CHUG characters. One shelf that is "post cartoon G1" CHUG characters and one IDW CHUG shelf. The rules for the characters that did not appear in the cartoon regularly are not hard and fast as to what goes on each shelf. ie: LG Windblade got promoted to a G1 cartoon shelf because of her major part in the Transformers franchise since her introduction a few years back.
Out of the following characters which would you guys say deserve a promotion to the coveted G1 Cartoon shelves to make it look fuller?
Botcon MTMTE Seekers
Gen Scoop
Gen Thunderwing
Adv Black Shadow
ROTF Bludgeon
Gen Clouder/Dealer
Gen Nightbeat
TR Getaway
Gotta have the Seekers there! :D
Agree on the MTMTE seekers. Thunderwing and Nightbeat too would be my next choices, followed at a bit of a distance by Getaway. Would say Bludgeon but his look is a bit too "non-G1 cartoon".
I would choose Black Shadow since he did actually appear in the G1 cartoon! :o
The Seekers for sure. Maybe Nightbeat as well, he's been a pretty notable character in IDW and the old Marvel comics.
But really, only the Seekers really made an appearance in the G1 'toon. Scoop was in a G2 sequence, for maybe 1 second. Clouder/Dealer would count if you have Japanese-only characters there as well. If you're just after padding it out a bit I'd consider adding characters who appeared in the old G1 catalogues as well, and/or shoving in notable/main characters from other series that have made it into CHUG form eg. Reveal the Shield Lugnut, Universe Hot Shot, etc. etc.
 I don't recall Scoop appearing in G2 at all. He did appear in the G1 comics as a member of Emirate Xaaron's Autobot resistance (which also included the other Autobot Double-Targetmasters, Autobot Classic Pretenders and Micromaster Rescue Patrol).
Doubledealer and Doubleclouder are entirely different characters. Doubledealer is a Decepticon Powermaster who is binary bonded to the Nebulans Knok and Skar (both of whom are unaware of Doubledealer's side-switching nature - he keeps it a secret even from his own Nebulan partners!). Doubleclouder on the other hand is a human who is paired with a lifeless Transtector. The "Knok" and "Skar" forms are actually variant armours worn by the (Double)Clouder depending on if he's in his Autobot or Decepticon guise. The Doubleclouder Transtector later gained sentience thanks to Devil Z and the human Clouder (who'd previously defected to the Autobots) joined the now-defected Decepticon Headmaster Juniors in aiding the Autobots. There are also distinct colour differences between Doubledealer and Doubleclouder, although oddly enough Doubleclouder's show colours are the same as Doubledealer's (which suggests that the show model must've been drawn up before Takara decided on changing Doubleclouder's colours from his Hasbro counterpart.
Gah, the Cybernet Space Cube!

Sorry if this is an already known piece of info but do we know if Trypticon will be hitting our shores? Just if he is I'll cancel him with HLJ so I get get Godbomber shipped and try and get the citybot cheaper locally
the large hyper surge optimus prime toy that is available in the RID lines, does it ever turn up in the cartoon or is it just a crazy remould?
same question for this crazy looking dude?
I can't remember if it does... but I would imagine so, since we had three different Optimus toys with those wings from Hasbro, and that fancy TAV61 from Japan.
If you do plan to buy one of the big versions, the TAV61 would probably be the best one, just for the added extras (and while it is on sale)... but be aware that the truck itself is probably one of the worst Transformers toys we've had in the last few years, purely because it is so simplistic, it's just a cab with arms and legs sticking out the back, that don't even join together to form a trailer.
The Cyber series toys are like Masterpiece toys in comparison to the engineering of that Hyper Surge Optimus. :p
Yes, he does but I'm not sure if it would be appropriate to say how or why here as it's potentially a spoiler for those who haven't seen that season of the show.
I second Griffin. TAV61 is the way to go. The Hasbro versions are truly awful in comparison and one of the few figures I have buyer regret for.
Thanks for the feedback guys. I got the impression it was pretty rubbish. I'm very interested in the TAV-33 I think if I was to get just one large scale prime from the entire series this would be the one since it features at the end of season 1.
I'm guessing TAV-61 features towards the end of Season 2 in an episode for a few minutes? thanks for not dropping any spoilers:)
Yep that is literally it. The toy takes a bit of artistic license to recreate the glowing sort of effect that an energon power up would (same as how the "Clash of the Transformers" Toys R Us exclusive warriors weren't 100% screen accurate as far as colours, it is hard to make a plastic toy glow without electronics or cheap glow in the dark paint lol) but yes you're basically spot on with your guess.
Personally though I would prefer if they did the power surge job to another character as well, you'll find out near the end of S2.5 who
