D/P/P and HG/SS has terrible issues with the GTS. Trunksie and I would try for hours to trade and never be successful. It would also send the invite to trade and we could 'see' each other, but it would never complete the connection.
I never had problems with the GTS.
With DPP i didnt have problems with online trading either, but I never tried it with HeartGold
I wonder if it is/was just a general 'Australia's Communications Networks Sucks!' kind of scenario? :p
Being that the Wireless NICs in the DSs and DS lites are probably only a/b/g at best, that could also lend to the sporadic troubles perhaps?. :confused:

I've always been able to trade on the random part of the GTS, whereby you trawl what's available or post your own, but trading between Friend Codes never worked.

Just got to the Dreamworld in White, nabbed me a Tepig, I figure then I get my grass fix with the monkey before the first gym.
So strange to have all new pokemon, that still feel eerily similar to the old ones (so far). I've got my my 4 mains for the first gym, and a bonus 2 Lillipups purely for pickup, been raking in the potions and ultra balls thus far!

It took me alot of grinding to get to lvl 20 ish for my 5 main team members, not sure how the exp split works thus far, I had my Timburr in the lead, and I would then switch it out for Blitzle when facing any flying/water types, and Timburr would get about 10% more exp...
All the grinding so early on (with most pokemon giving only 100-140 exp) was very annoying and stopped the flow of the game, Throh gives off alot more, but only the weak bird has super effective moves to fight it with!
Did anyone else struggle to find more than 1 or 2 Audino's by the second badge, because that is all I've seen. There have been plenty of pokemon heads popping up in the water where I cannot reach them yet, but no shaking grass...
Just keep running backwards and forth.
Also, exp gain is based on your level vs the opponents in this game (as opposed to enemies giving set exp when you totally murder the crap out of them in previous games)
Can I just say that Cottonee is the single most useless and pain in the arse Pokemon to lvl-up!?! :mad:
I mean, at least Magikarp was comical and paid you an awesome reward for lvling that Floundering Meowth Meal up! - Argh!, I've never been so frustrated with a character before. :p:D
Beat the Elite Four and am about to go battle N. Made sure I picked up Cobalion and Terrakion before getting there, though havent used them. Have taken quite a shining to Haxorus, and am working up my Zweilous. Dark Dragon? Yes thanks. :D
I love the specialties of the Elite Four. I can see what you meant by a focus on Fighting type, Trunksie. I wasn't expecting all the specialties to be so closely linked.

So got Victini (eventually, catching a legendary is lots more 'fun' when you only have access to great balls and lower, and have only 4 Ultra balls!).
Trained Victini and the fire monkey (caught in bug forest) up to lvl 20, now to the third gym, where I'll drop the two of them, since they will be mostly useless in the desert after the big city, with my fire starters fighting type to be massively useful.
Keep forgetting to go and find the other two monkeys in the forest. The grass never shook for me.Quote:
