Can someone who has one please post up the barcode ean number?
Might help in the hunt.
If they are being snapped up by scalpers, I'd have expected some to have been listed on ebay by now... but none were there when I just looked.
At least that's a good thing, if they are going to good homes (collectors/fans).
And be aware that there is supposed to be another shipment next month, if you miss out on this one.
I was told that there's only 2 per assortment, so it doesn't take much to make them sell out. TRU Head Office told me that all their stores were scheduled for another delivery either yesterday or today, but paletting/shelving doesn't occur over weekends, so there's a chance that IF the toys arrived on Friday and haven't been paletted/shelved on Fri night, they might be in back storage.
So based on what TRU Head Office told me, if anyone is doing the call arounds or happen to be popping into a TRU I'd recommend asking them to check the back room just in case. If not, try again on Monday.
When I called Miranda, the girl told me they had lots of them, luckily I asked her to set aside three as when I arrived, there were only two remaining on the shelves.
Hopefully you are right about a second shipment, that way anyone who missed the current wave can have another chance at it.
Didn't want to mention it too.
Still none on ebay, that's good. But I didn't realize there's really a lot more TF enthusiasts/collectors than the people on the board. That's why I'm surprised. Imagine 16 being sold out in one store.
Unfortunately, the voucher isn't valid when the next shipment comes in. Otherwise, I wouldn't have tried to catch the current batch.
Called all 3 Adelaide stores no Optimus prime or cracker yet
MP optimus was stocked in my local toysrus. I bought one today with the voucher. Very happy, I was expecting them not to have it. 5 left in the morning.
Picked up Hasbro Masterpiece Optimus Prime from TRU at Mount Gravatt - Brisbane South East this morning. $112.59 with voucher ;)
Just spoke to the TRU on the Gold Coast, and they mentioned that MP Optimus will be in the next catalogue (not on sale, just promoting it), and was really annoyed that Head Office was only sending them, and most other stores, a small amount that didn't even last a day.
He even recommended that we call up Head Office to (complain) question their wisdom... or to see if the "toxic" unwanted elements of Transformers lately has contaminated retailers' decisions, in that they didn't want to risk having more shelf-warming expensive Transformers costing them money.
Unfortunately, the stores themselves are being hassled by disappointed customers, and missing out on sales, based on the over-conservative decision by Head Office.
I was also told that there might be more arriving to the stores over the next few days... so if you miss out, check again until Wednesday. If no more arrive by then, the next lot won't be until November (if my original source was correct about that shipment).
I went to TRU At Mt Gravatt todayat about 12 or so and couldn't find any. they were either all gone or they've been hidden really well.
 For f*ck's sake there better be enough to stock and not have such a shortage otherwise TRU really are f*ckups.
Grabbed one at Belconnen TRU ACT. Last one in stock.
Goes to show that Hasbro's management of the overall line has been horrific in the last couple of years. People are not buying the line because they don't want Transformers, it was that the toys they were putting out on the shelf were simply bad and not worth the cost.
When a good toy is released, it sells.
I guess the logical reason the initial stock toysrus stores recieve is conservatively small because they plan on promoting it in a catalogue later and want to keep plenty in reserve for that. Also its selling fast because 1. even at full price its going to move, because its still reasonable. 2. The discount voucher is a big motivator. 3 This toy was released by takara overseas for twice as much!! and nearly everyone that collects is highly anticipating its release.
If the toy was a leader class bumblebee repaint the demand would be close to nil.
When Masterpiece Grimlock was released, they had small quantities as well. But didn't move as quickly but did sell out. I can understand them not wanting to over order on something, they have to get it close to right.
It really sux that the shelves are filled with so many gimmicky products, really there needs to be more focus. Shelfwarming stuff can only poison the brand. If I was going off retail alone I would consider the brand dead!
agree w/ #2.
Awesome customer service from toys r us. I bought MP OP on thursday night when they first hit shelves. I missed out on the coupon discount but went back today and they let me return the product and purchase again with the 25% discount. $112 is an awesome price. :)
Ok so far I have found out that apparently 2 Optimus prime mp are at Norlunga tru. Way too far for me to travel. So far tpp and geops x still saying they should be arriving any day. I'm in the financial position to buy an extra 1 if any one is as keen as I am. I'm going to be looking at both ttp and geops x tru tomorrow.
It has finally hit SA. TRU at Gepps Cross had 6 but I grabbed one so there are 5 left. It feels like I have been waiting forever for these to finally hit
Still none showing up on ebay.AU at all since they were released last weekend... so at least they are not being scalped (yet).
If any one is keen I put one on hold in Adelaide and can no longer afford the second one I was going to buy for my son. Just had to spend $200 on my car. If any one keen the first person to inbox me will get the details.
Wrong State:(
i would love one if still available
If you guys still haven't found one yet, try calling TRU head office and they can source one for you. That's what they told me when I was having trouble finding one.
Ironically (considering how much I spend on Transformers online), a single Transformer would have to be pretty great before I'd pay $150 retail for it. This toy definitely isn't it.
sux we don't have tru in Tasmania
I literally called every TRU in Sydney, both Canberra stores and Newcastle. They are saying there are no units left at all.
So...guess that's that. Hopefully they restock soon. Or else I guess Ill just have and hope they get more down the track. Or pay ebay prices.
Guess that's that.
Went to aspley Tru today and they wouldn't sell me one till the catalogue comes out. They had none on the shelf, but had stock out back. Kinda sucks after driving for 5 hrs. Luckily that's not why I made the trip
im told there are less than 400 units left in Australia to gt divided between the various stores
