Isabela Mona with Squeaks (looks like a movieverse version of Fixit)
Closeup of Squeaks' head
At the end of AoE I was hoping that the movieverse story would take a more scifi and potentially mature direction set off of Earth. It appears that I was wrong to hope for this.
Michael Bay doesn't care about that. Remember in ROTF Constructicons were killed at the very start yet they appeared anyways in the final battle. Michael Bay does not see the TFs as characters in a narrative but props to put in where he thinks they would look 'cool' in a set piece.
After 4 movies, really?
Photos from the Detroit film set, with the usual Bayhem and destruction.
And another Autobot from TF4 returns - Crosshairs.
Meanwhile on the Decepticon side, a better image of the Megatron head has been released, which shows Cybertronian writing on the head, saying "Megatron" and "Knight".
If this means that Megatron is also a Knight, it is likely to cause more contradictions to his back-story trying to explain when he was one, and when he turned bad. The impression given so far about Megatron is that he was always bad.
Actually, if the original version of the DOTM ending (from the book) was filmed (Megatron teamed up with Optimus to defeat Sentinel), it would make more sense that he was once good, and still has something left in him... but the previous four movies have never shown any trace of it.
Plot consistency? What plot consistency? We make billions with these eye-candy movies... they don't need to make sense.
:p
Me too.
I actually like the idea of Bay-splosions in outer space. I think Michael Bay could do some epic battle sequences in immersive 3D with space and alien planets.
I don't understand this fascination with staying Earth-bound or why they need so many humans in the story.
The more spoilers and teasers I see the less I like the direction the movie is going especially knowing the movie after this will be about Bumblebee (I'll have no interest in that one... I can barely tolerate his onscreen time in the normal movies). He's the one cast member they should kill off if they want to follow with the tradition of killing a major Autobot character in every movie since he's the last of the original team still standing.
Keeping the action on Earth grounds the story - the Transformers are robots in disguise, after all, and makes the premise of alien robots more believable if they're in familiar environments. I wonder if extended space sequences in complex, entirely CGI environments might also be expensive, especially with the degree of photorealism expected of these movies.
The humans are there to be relatable/audience surrogates, since our world is the backdrop for these battles. The humans therefore have to be fleshed out enough for them to be relatable so we can see the Transformers through their eyes.
I'd say going into space is the next logical step. Part 4 set that up anyway.
I dont find anything in Bayformers grounded or relatable. Nearly all of the human characters are just nuts, like full on psychos.
Mr Left Cheek (Tyrese "Epps" Gibson) has now been confirmed to be returning to TF5.
Someone called Santiago Cabrera has joined the cast. Apparently he was in the TV show Heroes.
And a Trademark filing has been found, from Hasbro trademarking the name "Autobot Sqweeks".
(Ugh... that spelling... )
Drift's new car mode has been revealed by Michael Bay, as a Mercedes AMG GT R... in black with red/orange highlights.
Phallic looking? His mouth like...um...a certain female body part :D:D:D
A new video clip of Barricade in car mode... looking a little different to previous movies.
Another character has been revealed

Various filming info and images from the last couple of weeks... nothing too exciting or revealing.
And from Cybertron Con in China, a video from Micheal Bay, from behind the scenes.
I didn't watch it, but probably doesn't tell us anything we don't already know.
I watched the video live.
It is marky mark in a submarine somewhere under the water. The most interesting thing to note from it is the girl in the dot suit who is filling in for a bot. I suspect the bot she is motion capturing for is Sqweeks (or whatever the vespa-bot is called).
An American family took some photos of a convoy of Movie vehicles that they came across while they were driving near Michigan.
So here are some things that were said at Cybertroncon specifically about the movie by Josh Feldman:
Optimus will have to travel around the world and space to deal with whatever is coming.
Megatron will have "many cool forms" and will be bigger and badder than ever.
Bumblebee will have many difficult issue to deal with and have to step up into a leader position.
Sqweeks is a Vespa-bot and currently doesn't have a Mandarin translation. I don't know what's wrong with him being called Sqweeks in Chinese...
Read into them what you will...
I'm worried they're going to kill off/incapacitate Optimus (again) and try the whole RID scenario with Bumblebee when it is high time Bumblebee either gets killed off like the rest of the "A" team have or they fix his darn voice and transform him into something more impressive than a Lightning Mcqueen looking Camaro!
I'll only be sad if Optimus dies. The rest can fall into a trash compactor as far as i care.
I will be ticked if they kill optimus again.
I'll be curious to see how they get back to Megatron from Galavtron.
Hot Rod has been revealed.
I don't like the black on him... makes him look too much like the "new" Drift car.
Ewps - sorry Paul - didn't realise you'd linked to TFW... I assumed it was an '86 movie link. Soz.
Hot Rod definitely needs some more colour, a recognisable silhouette wouldn't go astray either.
Lol the one transformer they should have painted flames on...
eh whatever :(
i don't expect things to be replicating G1 all the time, and especially not now with the track record, but it's still annoying to me when they take existing characters and basically try and cash in on the name and not homage the look at all.
i know right haha
Hot Rod: Brash, slightly arrogant, protector. <---isn't that just Movieverse Bumblebee?
Is he basically just gonna be like Bumblebee only with a voice?
History: Bumblebee's brother-in-arms
In other words, he's another Bumblebee.
It's almost as if Bay doesn't care about developing distinctive characters in his films...
I agree. When I read "Bumblebee's brother-in-arms" before the picture showing him as a Lamborghini I expected him to be another camaro and was thinking ... wait - shouldn't that be Cliffjumper?
I think Hot Rod should be more flashy than black or gun metal or whatever colour he ends up actually being. A bit of yellow trim on him or switch the colour so he is mostly orange/red with the black as trim to hail at least a little homage to the original character heritage. Although knowing Bay this is probably Hot Rod in namesake only...
I'm curious as to how this will end up looking on-screen. He transforms into a lovely car, though: https://www.lamborghini.com/en-en/mo...off/centenario
It's not as if name reuse has never happened in Transformers before - it's been happening since Beast Wars, so why is it such a big deal for the movieverse?
On the colour: the car is in carbonfibre, which is dark grey/black, so that's what the robot has to be.
You do know that Michael Bay doesn't write the characters, right?
Official artwork for Drift (in new colours) and Sqweeks.
Hasbro have licensed (outsourced) diecast vehicles for the fifth movie, after doing it themselves for the first two movies (with most being just plastic).
More photos of the various vehicles driving around and parked in the Movie lot.
(it is weird seeing two of the Optimus trucks next to each other, even though we know that they had up to four made up for filming the previous movies)
To be honest i dont mind Megatron's new look. There is some kind of artistic style going on in his design. Still ugly though.
Barricade is the typical scrap yard junk we've seen for years. Garbage.
Who will the Fiat 124 spider end up being?
