I'd like to see it continue going forward as well. HasTak would need to move away from a line wide gimmick that mandates every figure in each size class be more or less the same stature so they can all be limbs for gestalts/accept headmasters, which is also something I'd like to see.
Seeing these toys side by side IRL it's evident that these toys are meant to be approximately all to scale with each other. Last night I placed Bumblebee, Stinger, Blackout and Starscream next to each other and some other collectors and I noticed that the cockpits/windows were all roughly to scale with each other. When you look at each vehicle and imagine a person sitting inside, you can visualise that these people would be to scale with each other.
Apparently there are some design issues with Bumblebee and Blackout, and some suggested fixes have been posted on Seibertron.
Hasbro have released some images showing three stages for Blackout - design drawing, grey prototype and finished figure.
Packaging images for the Japanese versions have also been found, showing us the minor differences of the packaging of the first eight. (the same eight as the Hasbro first wave - the toys are expected to be identical to the Hasbro versions)
Another two upcoming Studio Series toys appear to be found on a leaked listing - Voyager Bonecrusher and another Voyager Optimus.
In-hand photos of the wave 2 Voyager Megatron (TF2) andLeaderVoyager Brawl (TF1).
The person posting up the photos hasn't claimed them as their own, but also hasn't noted a source... so I don't know if these are from a leaked Chinese source, or these are coming out soon and someone just got their hands on them first.
Brawl is a Voyager
Finally getting a chance to give the first wave a good look over and transform, and as impressive as they are to have on display (their main marketing point, as seen by the included diorama displays), transformations are either annoyingly fiddly with heavy reliance on panels locking into each other, or the transformations are based on existing toys.
I knew that Bumblebee was based on the wave 3 TF5 Bumblebee toy, but I didn't realise that Voyager Starscream was an up-sized version of the TF3 Deluxe Starscream toy, or that Ratchet was also based on the TF3 Ratchet toy.
The thing that annoys me so much about panel-locking figures, is that they tend to have so much crammed inside with no spare space, that if anything is even slightly out of alignment, the panels don't line up or lock into place. If a toy needs to create an outer shell from panels, it needs to have space inside to allow for parts to be where they need to be, with a little tolerance.
I also see what other fans meant about Bumblebee needing a pin on the roof panel, as it doesn't seem possible to transform the toy without it popping off.
I still have the two Leaders to do yet, and I've seen that reviewers rate those two as the best of the first wave.
Ah, I should have seen that in the link title. :o
Word from Seibertron is that the Deluxe Bumblebee has had a second production run (according to the stamping on the back of the box), which is said to have fixed a few flaws in the toy, included tightening of various joints.
I just had a look at the one I bought from Myer, and it has the same production run on it (80201), so if this is a later, better, production of Bumblebee, at least we got the good stock in Australia (or at least, some good stock arrived here... but check the packaging when you buy one, just in case).
Maybe the "earlier" production run was released in America, as part of the advance release during the New York Toyfair.
A short teaser video from Hasbro on Facebook of wave 2 Jazz.
The second wave of Japanese Studio Series toys (09 to 12) have a release date of July 28th.
The redeco Voyager SS Starscream, with ROTF tattoo deco, has been revealed by Hasbro through their instagram account.
It's SS number and release dates will probably be revealed at SDCC later this week.

Disappointed there is no SS Long Haul. Out of all the Constructicons I thought he looked great in the movie. I reckon a Slug to go with Grimlock also would have been a goer.
Having a SS Soundwave that came with Frenzy, Ravage and Laserbeak would have been nice too.
As it is I’ve got Big Grim, Blackout, Stinger and Crowbar. Can’t say I’ve got much interest in the rest. Maybe Lockdown if I see him cheap.
It looks like the first Bumblebee Movie toy under the Studio Series banner to be revealed is not an actual toy... but looks like it could be a(nother) Bumblebee roleplay helmet.
It notes that it has a blutooth element to it, so maybe it can connect to other devices, or even your phone (which would be cool, taking calls while wearing your helmet).
Some packaging images (with watermarks) of the upcoming Deluxes, DOTM Ratchet, Shadow Raider and VW Bumblebee.
From some new ebay auctions in Asia, are some nice new images of SS-22 Dropkick and SS-23 KSI Sentry.
Also from ebay comes some clearer images of the recoloured Ratchet toy, with its DOTM colours.

DOTM Sideswipe (convertible), TF07/DOTM Barricade and TLK WW2 Bumblebee revealed, all in deluxe scale.
Sideswipe looks incredible. Barricade looks a bit meh - perhaps more accurate than the two previous deluxe scale efforts at this design, but it looks like it has a fake car chest hood. Bumblebee needs more paint.
I'm digging the accessories these guys come with.
I'm expecting TF07 Megatron and Bonecrusher to be revealed in voyager scale either at this show or in the near future. That would give us the whole of the 2007 robot cast in the Studio Series (Frenzy aside).
EDIT: I know that this is all offset by the fact that at the end of the day it is a Bumblebee figure, and kids love Bumblebee, but I do love the Studio Series line bringing us figures of models that got <30 seconds screen time.
Anyway, the following are rumoured and we might see them revealed over the weekend
- TF07 Bonecrusher (already seen in Walmart computers)
- DOTM Dino (heavily rumoured and I believe very recently seen in Amazon Australia computers at the same time as the above Barricade, Bee and Sideswipe figures)
- TF07 Megatron (a listing for another Voyager Megatron was spotted in store computers, and I'm guessing 2007 Movie for the above reasons).
- ROTF Scrapmetal (bit of a left field one, recently popped up in the same Amazon Australia leak as the now confirmed Barricade, Bee and Sideswipe) (this guy was 'zee little one' who was cannibalised for parts for Megatron under the sea in ROTF).
- DOTM Crankcase (ditto about the Amazon Australia thing).
The Amazon Australia leak also lists one further unnamed deluxe and two unnamed leaders. Would love to see DOTM Megatron as a Leader class figure. He'd be a bit like Studio Series Blackout - large long alt mode that compresses to short but thicc leader figure, so he can stay in scale with Prime.
The WWII Bumblebee looks great. Instant buy for me.
Aaaaand here is Crankcase

They've not changed too much from Crowbar. I think that this is an excellent, characterful mold but I'm not seeing enough changes to justify buying a slightly similar redeco.
Disappointed not to see a blaster for the figure, like they did with the Ratchet mold's minor repaint.
I hope we see Dino soon...
I like the vehicle mode for WW2 Bumblebee... but that wasn't what he transformed into in TLK. He turned into an open top/convertible car, which ejects a soldier from the trunk while he is transforming... not an armoured vehicle/tank. (even the TFW news poster got it wrong by saying that this was his TLK mode)
Maybe this is another WW2 vehicle mode that Bumblebee had, which will be shown in the Bumblebee Movie.
Shadow Raider (the orange redeco of Lockdown) has been shown off in this gallery, with comparisons to the Lockdown toy.
An image of a Studio Series TLK Drift has been accidentally leaked - the CGI render/stock art appeared on a NYCC banner.
It's a repaint of the TLK mold (itself a remold of the AEO figure) with a new head, and better paint. It also comes with a dinobot baby Strafe minifigure, if the art is to be believed.
An uninteresting entry into SS, although the silver lining is that it is another confirmation from the list of leaked but as yet unrevealed figures. That list now stands at -
Dino, Cogman, Scrapmetal, Hightower, Shatter, DOTM Optimus, Bonecrusher, leader Megatron, and Jetfire.
The Bumblebee 2-pack (Then & Now set with another VW Bumblebee and the TF5 Bumblebee that was a new mould)... has been found at retail in Singapore, so should be showing up elsewhere... but likely to be a store exclusive since it is a one-off pack (and therefore, probably won't show up here).
Just like the Throne of the Primes SDCC set being released in Japan, the other SDCC exclusive Transformers set (Bumblebee and the 2 Dino cassettes) is also being released in Japan, at a convention next weekend. (probably identical, like the other Hasbro Studio Series toys)
It will be 4860yen, which is about AU$60.
Obviously I was wrong. :o
The two pack 24/25 has been revealed to be a Target exclusive in America, for US$40.
That's about right for US retail, as the Studio Series Deluxes have been US$20 each over there.
That makes our price here at AU$45 (about US$31.50) significantly cheaper than in America... and obviously a lot less than what two Deluxes cost here (about AU$60).
SS-39 Cogman must be coming out soon, as someone in Asia already has one in-hand... and as it was originally described, it is just a redeco of the TF5 Deluxe toy.
CGI images of SS-46 Dropkick have been released, this time in car form.
