Think it was $600 for my Fort Max
$900 for black zarak
Pretty sure the most I've paid was $260 for a MISB eHobby Anime Streak. Well worth it though IMO.
I used to like that last minute rush. the feeling of pipping someone at the post.
but that's bad for the bank account (i found), now i just chuck the number in.
if someone beats me, they wanted it more than i did. if not, i get it at a price i'm happy with. (and i'm not always worried about if i'm near a computer at that critical moment) i'm happy with what i've got for now so that probably helps.
All the prices peeps have mentioned here seem pretty-very reasonable:)
For me, the figure that owes me the most is my G1 Scorponok at close to $500 due to 'piece-mealing' - The highest amount I've laid out for a figure/s is MP-04 Optimus Prime at $250. :o
Too much to even think about. I'd rather talk about bargains people have scored with todays prices. :D
i think the most i've paid was 200 for rid prime and magnus :P nothing major for me to report .... yet ;)
but i did just score a mib armada unicron for 20$ + postage? :D
Some memorable bargains...
+ G1 1986 Kup MISB for $5 (on sale at Grace Bros. (now Myer))
+ G1 Sixshot loose complete in box for free
+ G1 1984 Soundwave loose complete for $5, later someone gave me a 1984 Soundwave box for free
+ Beast Wars Transmetal 2 Megatron and Tigerhawk MISB for free
+ MISB Banzaitron for $20 (not to be confused with Banzai-Tron ;))
It's a lot better than City Commander though. For one thing you don't have half the trailer forming an impractical BFG that the toy can't even hold properly. I prefer God Fire Convoy over Omega Prime though -- nicer colours (God Magnus has the darker grey instead of RiD Magnus' Hasbro Grey) and most importantly, superior quality rubber on the tyres that don't split. Although Hasbro's RiD Optimus Prime has more scratch-resistant chrome.
i dunno was a year or so ago , it might have been less than taht but i cant seem to find anything regarding the auction on ebay :S , but definately glad i grabbed it he's a real cool figure for all he's a bit top/back heavy
Interesting how Hasbro was able to produce the version with the better Chrome. I should dig mine out of storage to see if the rubber has split :/
My biggest gripe on these awesome overkill Primes is the serious lack of a nemesis. RiD Galvatron's 7th flying dragon mode can hardly take on Omega Prime/God Fire Convoy's 3kg of crushing plastic.
yeah 2 of my tires have split :(
The tyres on RiD toys is awful. Let me put it this way, I got Super Fire Convoy in 2000 - even now the tyres have never split. I got RiD Optimus Prime in 2002, after a few months, the tyres split. Same thing happened w/ my X-Brawn. So my Takara Fire Convoy, which is 2 years older than my RiD OP, still has better condition rubber tyres. The splitting tyres is a widely reported problem on RiD toys, but I've yet to hear reports of a single Car Robot toy that has split tyres. It seems that in this case, Takara definitely used better quality rubber on their tyres than Hasbro.
Oh, and IMO the voices sound better on God Fire Convoy... a lot louder for one thing, and it actually sounds like the voices from the Car Robot anime... whereas RiD Optimus Prime's voice sounds nothing like Neil Kaplan -- it's just some generic 'action hero' voice. (-_-)
For me atm, I think I have spent $900 on Fort Max, and I haven't got him all complete yet.
I don't think I have broken the $600 mark. At least a couple of my figures have cost that much not more.
I'm mainly going off the Fort Max prices really.. I thought 2500 was a horrendous price to pay for one, but after looking around, it seems to be the going rate these days:eek: and most of the guys mention they've picked one up heaps cheaper then that:)
my most expensive was Grand Max for 2k or 131000¥ + shipping + spotters fee , Black Zarak for 1k ish 68000¥ + shipping +spotters fee
My cheapest was from my gf's brothers wifes brother. he had some tf's he didn't want (?:p) when he dropped them off, it was Galvatron, Jetfire, Kup, Hotrod and Ultra Magnus all 100% complete MIB. the only bad thing was, he said that there were more with no boxes so he gave them to the Salvos..
Nooooooooo.
My most expensive TF comparatively speaking (size of toy compared to price) was/is Blue Bachaus at $650.00 (used to be MetalHawk at $450.00). My cheapest toy(Just to annoy Valk:p) was a complete Fort Max sent over from the U.S by a friend for free:D
What do you guys think of the affect a fort Max reissue will have on the value of him?
Grock- how did you get those Japan items? From a Japan auction site? Cheers
Single toy: Masterpiece Megs $300
Set: Hercules $520
Hmm just to update coz I didnt notice em before, silly me I can't remember exactly now what I ve paid for them but I do know they cost more than $800 either as a group or individual figure - paid piecemeal hehehe:D

http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/b...rchases002.jpg
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/b...hases001-1.jpg
All these wonderful figures are courtesy of one person kelvinchang99:D:D:D
Then there's these two paid piecemeal as wll... again I think a bit up to 800 for both or a bit more I think about 1200?, sorry I shouldve kept tabs on the prices I paid for em :o.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/b...s/DSC01002.jpg
then we get to Brave Max which is $700.

^^^ I neeeed those top 3 liege:p
A reissue Fort Max would be unlikely given the last couple city-formers shelf-warmed so badly. Also, he does not conform to today's child safety laws in particular the 'drop test' however this would not be an issue in Asia as it would be marketed towards collectors.
are we talking on an actual tf or in terms of tf collecting
either way it would be fort max which was 800 odd + postage
or my glass cabinets which were a 3 or 4 fort maxes in value
Ahhh.... when I was 14.... around 2004...
I spent $500 (or $400) on a G1 Trypticon, in the box, all parts, instructions, stickers unapplied.... Box in very good condition and Fig was really nice....
My Dad... was sooo annoyed at me when he found out.... (it was my own money) but I really wanted him....
I probably paid too much at the time.. but yeah
Thats a pretty impressive buy at 14!
And it's your own money, you cna do what you wish with it. But at 14, a really good buy.
MP-10, Takara version, about $240 shipped. Bought well before the Hasbro version was announced officially. I'm not sure whether I would have waited for the cheaper one had I known it was going to be released. I quite like the darker blue of the Takara version. It's just a beautiful model overall, I don't regret spending the money at all.
The TakaraTOMY colours are nicer IMO, but I don't think it's worth the price -- but if you already have it then you might as well keep it. :) It's not as if had the clairvoyance to predict that a Hasbro version would come out cheaper... if you did then you could retire and live the rest of your life as a trillionaire off lottery winnings. ;)
I think many of us have purchased a more expensive version, then later in the future a cheaper version became available. Last year I purchased a Henkei Wheeljack from a collectable toy store in Taipei for about AU$37... then shortly after returning to Australia I found Generations Wheeljack for $25!! United Wheeljack is a nicer colour, but not worth $7 above RRP. I would have been perfectly happy getting Generations Wheeljack and saving myself $12. Gah. :( Likewise I paid about $50 for freaking Gentei Thundercracker... then last year Generations Thundercracker came out. I got it anyway, because I'm not happy with Gentei Thundercracker (due to mould degradation issues). So yeah, I've also experienced getting a more expensive version of a toy only to find a cheaper version locally later on. ;)
I've not gone much north of the standard leader class price for an individual toy.
In one go, I think I burned through $400 at one of my visits to Nexus Toyfair.
