Game Informer has more info on this.
Seibertron Post
As I currently have limited access to the internet at work, I can't view it. I will when I get home though.
That trivia game was pretty lame and their so called Guru was more ignorant than your average Geewuner.
This does not bode well.
RUBBLE!?

Official Press Release
And the game website has another countdown. Right now I cant be bothered to work out how long until it reaches zero.
Also another tidbit is Amazon says the release will be July 22nd.
This is the part that's interesting:
TFwiki has also updated their article but I am not sure where they are getting their info.Quote:
“For the first time, Hasbro is working with Activision to drive the TRANSFORMERS fiction forward into new story arcs, demonstrating pivotal moments in Transformers history that defined who they are,” said Aaron Archer, Senior Design Director, Hasbro. “This remarkable video game helps us to tell a critical event in TRANSFORMERS lore that will be used as canon for future storylines in a way we could have only dreamed of a few years ago. It is a testament to the success of the TRANSFORMERS brand and a key element to the story we look forward to telling in 2010 and beyond.”
This too is also interesting.
At least it is being developed for the Wii as well and even DS.Quote:
Transformers: War for Cybertron is in development for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, Windows PC, Wii™ and Nintendo DS™
This causes a bit of concern. The DS and possibly the Wii will not be able to handle the same identical game as the PC, PS3 and 360. Which means that there will be 2-3 different games being developed simultaneously scattering resources instead of the developers focusing on making a single good game.
Most of the time Wii & DS games are handled by a different dev team for that reason.
They had to do the same with the TF2 game - splitting up resources and budget to make 5 different versions. I think that one turned out okay, but would have been a lot better if development was focused on just the one game.
I concur there Mr Griff. Its a shame, but I guess it has to be done in the current market situation.
I like the idea of online co-op mode. Hopefully its some sort of story mode, as opposed to team based "capture the flag" etc etc.
Wonder if this will be a new story or something like the work-up to G1 More than meets the eye, ie the struggle of the Autobots to find energon etc etc or something epic along the lines of the fallen and the origins of the battle?Quote:

Looks like the game may well be related to other media as well.
My main concern though is the levels. Most of the time Cybertron has been seen as metallic and at night. Does Cybertron have a sun and are there going to be varied levels (eg a mecha jungle-esque level) or is all going to be urban Cybertron.
That's very true about the ROTF game. I own the PS2 version (had to import it from the UK as it never saw release here) and it's completely different to the PS3 version. Probably a good thing; on Good Game (ABC2 Mondays @ 8.30 PM) ROTF PS3 was nominated for the worst game of 2009.
The ROTF game may be considered good when compared to previous TF games but when compared to other video game releases in general - it is pretty sucky and mediocre at best.
It seems that Hasbro wants to break that trend by focusing on this game as a single good release rather than 'a tie in' to another main franchise like previous video game efforts have been. Let's be honest - The Transformers movie games are little more than merchandise to complement the movie.
If the game turns out to be crap, it will only flop.
The difference between the film and the video game industry is that bad games flop no matter how much hype or marketing power they may have behind them - There are a few exceptions to this rule but way too few to mention and usually not conventional.
I don't think the Ps2 version was released here. Its the same as the Wii one as far as I know. The PSP version was Craptacular I must say. Craptacular with a capital "OMG THIS IS BAD!"
As for good game, I think that Bajo was too incensed by the movie to make a unbiased review. ROTF ps3/xbox isn't the best game, but it is far better than what Good game gave it. I reckon about 5/10 and I have played worse games this year let me tell you... As for the bug, I never experienced that.
Good game review in text
Video
The countdown has now been removed and a very well presented website put in place with nice effects:
http://transformersgame.com/
However not much content in there yet aside from the preview movie.
Here is another Gameinformer article:
A few gaming sites are now reporting that Activision has confirmed a Wii version as well.
TFW2005 War For Cybertron Interview with Aaron Archer and Matt Tieger

Could the Wii handle Gears of War style gameplay?
The little decoder thing on the site is pretty cool, there are 4 "transmissions" so far with more to come apparently.
Co-ordinates below. The preview movie we've seen already is listed by default.
Spoilers
Orange 40, red 120. Orange 11 red 265 and orange 298 red 85
Whats the colour code to get text to blend in with the background?
That interview was interesting in seeing what they have worked on before. I think this one might be ok.
the wii could easily handle GoW game play style, just not the graphics, hell the N64 had a 3rd person cover based shooter like GoW.
The game website has updated with a mini game which let's you find new transmissions.
