When should I play Silent Hill Origins then? (Haven't bought this yet and I've read that it's a prequal to SH1?). I'm also after a component cable for PS2 that isn't some 3rd party piece of crap if anyone has an official Sony one...

Play it after 1 & 3. Play it first and you'll probably give up on the series...
Why do you want to waste money on a Sony component cable? Just buy this http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-n-49-en-70-1b4.html for sub AU$7. It will do the job perfectly well for a fraction of the cost of the official Sony one.
Play-asia is your friend. :) I've got that cable and it's fantastic for PS2 or PS3 (although I use HDMI for the PS3 now). If ever you need an HDMI cable get one from them also...Around $5 and supports 1.3 HD audio/video (http://www.audioholics.com/education...s-hdmi-1-3-q-a).
The Silent Hill series is great, though I have only managed to finish the first one (and got a bad ending) I really gotta go back and play it again to get all the different endings. I understood the first one, but it has been that long since I played it so I can't remember it fully.
Thanks Doubledealer, I always wondered in which order I had to play them.

Indeed! I'd pay that much for it, but I've never seen it below $90!

Was getting a bit sick of using the standard tv speakers for audio so decided it was time for a bit of a home theatre upgrade. Ended up buying:
From JB Hi-Fi Chermside:
Onkyo TX-SR507B AV Receiver
RVM - OPAL SS38A Speaker Stands (2 stands for rear speakers)
Belkin PURE AV - Blue Series 1.8m Digital Optical Audio Cable (so TV audio goes through the receiver and speakers)
From Joyce Mayne Maroochydore:
Energy Take Classic 5 Satellite Speaker & Sub pack
Belkin PURE AV - 16-Gauge High Performance Speaker Wire (30.5m)
Belkin PURE AV - Subwoofer Audio Cable
Was up until about 1:30am last night setting it all up with my tv, PS3 and Wii. Just tested out the Iron Man BD with its True HD audio and am so pleased...Sounds unbelievable! :D
Thanks 1AZRAEL1, every day is going to be a party now I think! I'm drooling just thinking of the Arnie nights already. :D I've been listening to some music and the clarity from the Energy speakers is just out of this world. Listening to a recent fave song 'The Lotus and the Robot' by Hatchback blew me away inparticular as every time a new element is introduced into the song it's from a different direction and with such clear sound...Time to go fiddle with it some more I think, haven't even tested any PS3 games with it yet!

:D For those who haven't bought this yet, please keep this in mind...
From the IGN Akira BD review:
"An insert inside the case informs consumers that 5.1 Dolby TrueHD English track was recorded in 48 kHz/16 bit sound and doesn't produce the hypersonic effect as heard in the Japanese TrueHD track in 192 kHz/24 bit audio. Basically, they're saying (and our direct comparisons confirmed it), that the original hypersonic Japanese TrueHD track simply blows the English one out of the water. Hearing to the two tracks back to back is like the difference between hearing a wild party next door and being smack-dab in the middle of that party. Just listen to the rhythmic drums that break the silence in the opening sequence. The rumbling, resonant sound will have your eardrums humming. And it only gets better from there. The bike chases will knock your socks off. The explosions will blow the roof off. The moving score blends seamlessly into the sound effects with startling directionality. Seriously, even if you're not a purist and you hate reading subtitles, do yourself a favor and listen to the original Japanese track at least once. This is as good as sound gets."
I had an itch to play it, and it seems that you can't rent this game..
So I had to purchase it (on special of course, no game is worth $120NZ!)

Just bought 'Sauna' on DVD from JB Hi-Fi ($19 from the world movies section). Another superb horror from the Nordic regions - fans of Let the Right One In's brand of horror would do well to check this one out.
Was also going to buy 'Lake Mungo' as the blurb made it sound intruiging but thought I'd just stick with the one dvd for today. Anyone seen it? Thoughts?
i fell asleep on the beach and got myself a sunburn YEAH!!!!

It was the fifth story made in the series.
Wobbly sets throughout but I love it. Especially the second episode where three of the main cast are brainwashed and the fourth isn't, and we get POV shots showing what each camp sees.
And I love the Voord tripping over his own flippers in the last episode.
Picked up a bunch of blu-ray titles from K-Mart and JB Hi-Fi this arvo thanks to their sales:
Batman
Batman Returns
Batman Forever
Batman & Robin
Superman: Doomsday
Universal Soldier: The Return
X-Men -- The Last Stand
Die Hard With A Vengeance
Above The Law
Predator 2
My Name Is Bruce blu-ray
Ghostbusters blu-ray
