New Series Wild Mass Guessing

yeah but Clone Wars exists within mainstream Star Wars continuity. As I said, I'd like to see a new series that exists within the mainstream Transformers G1/G2/BW/BM continuity - using Classics/Universe/Henkei figures would work well (and also help promote sales for these recent/current figures which would benefit HasTak). And the groundwork for inserting it into mainstream continuity has already been laid down by comics books as an "alternate G2" - although it could just as easily take place after the events of G2; effectively becoming a "Generation 3" story.

I feel naughty right now, so I'll give you a hasbro version of alternators:

There's 5 'bots, 4 of them are bitch'n while the other one is bumblebee.

These 5 cars are teamed up with 5 kids that "discover" some cache with some sort of tokens in them that allow them to "Transform and roll out" command these 5 'bots. Oh, and to "upgrade" the cars in races with jet thrusters and crap.

The cons have no such handicap and cheat at winning races all across the world in some attempt to gain control over the oil.

i would love to see more movie-verse stories fleshed out in a tv show. means more movie style figures to send me broke :D

on the other hand, i want to see a series that picks up where Beast machines left off, i want more of those characters we loved in the beast series and bring some g1 favs into the beast world.

im the beast wars generation of tf fan, so im very biast to that series, i think after years and years of tf vehicle based shows i really want to go back to beast bots for a while.

It's hard not to love Beast Wars considering it's pure awesomesauceness. :D

Having said that, it's not easy to continue where Beast Machines left off because BM pretty much boxed itself in at the end. Your options are to either:

a) Continue on with Cybertron as a technorganic paradise, and of course the Transformers themselves are all technorganic ('cept for those who were off-world at the time Cybertron was reformatted like Rook, Sideswipe, Sunstreaker, Trailbreaker etc.); something which was very controversial and unpopular with fans, or...

b) Have something undo Cybertron and restore it as a machine planet (and the Transformers are completely mechanical robots); but the question is would you want to do this and still try to respect everything that Optimus Primal and the Maximals struggled in order to achieve technorganicism (including Optimus' sacrifice!) or do you fly against that and thus their entire effort would have been in vain/futility? or...

c) Take the story away from Cybertron. This is what Transformers Universe essentially did; took the story away from Cybertron to within Unicron and other worlds. I'm not sure how well this story would work in the long term though because Cybertron would remain technorganic.

Understandably Hasbro wouldn't _want_ to return to the whole technorganic thing. It's not necessarily because the concept was bad - I personally liked it - but like it or not it was a pretty unpopular concept. I don't see Hasbro wanting to develop a new technorganic Transformer toy line like Beast Machines again (remember how long they shelf warmed?). Transformers Animated has demonstrated that you can get away with a small number of Technorganic Transformers like Blackarachnia and Waspinator, but of course, Animated is a line that is predominantly vehicular. And Blackarachnia and Waspinator are really just robotic animals (like the Dinobots), despite the cartoon's claims that they're technorganic.

I'd rather see them return to realistic beast-moded Transformers. It's a far more popular concept (as demonstrated by the success of Beast Wars).

i remember reading somewhere that a comic writter was working on a story that was a sequel to beast machines. not 100% if it was a writter commisioned by IDW. the premise was that beast machines was actually a simulation that the maximals were put into by some higher being or what ever and the series begins with the maximal waking from that simulation to a devastated cybertron taking into account the events of the 2nd BW comic. i wouldnt mind this premise because it allows the story to continue with those characters with a more traditional cybertron.

either way, id love for the story of maximals and predacons to go on. even fleshing out the BW comic series would be super awesome because i loved those books

which would basically be option b - undoing Beast Machines. Transformers Universe continues on from Beast Machines and takes the story off-world as the Transformers battle a renewed Unicron and also go questing on the behest of the Oracle.

One of the other problems with the TF tooniverse of Beast Wars and Beast Machines is that it's so far in the future now that it makes no sense to have any TF's with alt modes that resemble earth vehicles. And as for Beastmodes they only really make sense on Earth, unless they make some lame explenation for why there are heaps of Earths out there.

So if they take the adventure into space or elsewhere in the galaxy how do they explain the TF's altmodes?

Time travel. After all Beast Wars was set in around 180000BCE even though the Beast Wars Transformers themselves came from approx. 315AU (possibly the 24th Century by Earth reckoning).

If they want to do something like Beast Machines (meaning that it only takes place on Cybertron) then by all means please do it. There is a lot of awesome stuff in Maximal era Cybertron to be explored. There is even enough room to do a series that takes place shortly after the Axalon departs with a whole new cast without affecting contunuity as the story is taking part in another place. The awesome thing about such a series is that they would be able to introduce numerous G1 characters with all the political intrigue surrounding the Tripredacus Council and Predacon insurgency motivated by underground Decepticon leaders.

Okay, but considering the amount of time and money invested into a cartoon series, from Hasbro's perspective the show needs to work toward marketing a toyline. Other awesome/cool ideas to further enhance Transformers lore can always be done in comic books.

It's no secret that Transformer cartoons are essentially a series of toy commercials. Transformer comics were the same in the beginning too, but they've essentially evolved past that. Transformer comics are clearly aimed at older markets now... just last night I was thinking about all the iPod ads on the back of current comics compared to say the Lucky Charms cereal ads and community service campaigns that we used to have in G1 and G2. Contemporary TF comics even have recruitment ads for the United States Army!

So I think from a practical/realistic POV we need to look at how to develop a cartoon story that could work as a toyline too. And in that regard I don't think technorganicism is something that Hasbro should revisit; storywise I personally don't think it's a bad idea, but we _know_ that the technorganic Maximals sold poorly during Beast Machines so if I were a Hasbro exec I wouldn't want to touch it with a 3m barge pole.

If I were a Hasbro exec I would consider making a cartoon series based on Classics/Universe/Henkei toys - they're a recent/current line of toys, many of which are still on shelves now, and it's not too late for Hasbro to continue the line for next year. Storywise there's all kinds of things you could do with Classics, such as:
1) Doing what's already been done in the comics; have Classics as an alternate "Generation 2."
2) Continue on from where G2 finished (bring on the Liege Maximo!!) - and even incorporate some of the ideas you were suggesting (bridging G2 with Beast Wars).
3) A reimagining of G1, but updated and more matured... not too mature like Beast Machines, something like Beast Wars which kids and adults can both appreciate. Something in a similar spirit to the Clone Wars cartoon.
...etc.

Who here would not want to see a Classics cartoon series? :) Even sweeter if they can bring back some G1 voice actors like Cullen, Welker, McConnohie etc. Even if they can't most of us have enjoyed the more recent talents of VAs like Kaye, Chalk etc.; I'd love to see Scott McNeil reprise his role as Universe Dinobot!
