This is a new figure named Boneyard. The one that was released in full color was called Desolataur.

The Boneyard unpainted prototype was on display at TFcon Tornoto 2015, as well as appearing in the TFcon third party product preview panel. For those interested, here is a peek:

They have said they are revising some details and sizes already, and have a second prototype being done now, and a prototype for their other figure, Jetstrike, is on the way. Here is a teaser:

Play With This Too released a render of the first look at Jetstrike's head design on Facebook:

First hand painted prototype pictures of Boneyard. This figure is hand painted by Jason Brehn. Of particular coolness is the paint detail on Boneyard's robot head, check out the teeth on the helmet in the second picture:

We have our first look at a render of the second design for the upcoming Kickstarter Redux. Jetstrike is a foul-mouthed, bad boy fighter pilot in flying Protector armor in the Lost Protectors universe. According to posts by Play With This Too expect the Kickstarter to begin in September 2015.

Are there going to be the actual robots inside the Pretender Shells or no?
Nope. Check out this vid for their first attempt.
They're more stand-alone deluxe-sized action figures with a good level of articulation, 5mm ports + attachments, and an accompanying smaller "transformable" robot (very simplistic engineering, almost 1980's Micromaster-level).
I found a nice image comparing the new painted Boneyard figure to the old painted Desolataur figure.

That's pretty good but not sure about Boneyard's proportions. It could be that the bulky armor makes it look a bit goofy.
Yeah, Desolataur's armour fits much more naturally by comparison. Didn't realise Boneyard is bigger than Desolataur. I feel like the Pretender monsters should be slightly larger and more imposing than the Pretender humans.
Well, one thing you have to consider is they plan future figures that mix parts. For instance Muscules (aka Stranglehold) has basically the upper body of Desolataur and the lower body of Jetstrike. So they are all going to be the same height. I think this Boneyard only looks bigger because he's standing tall, while Desolataur is hunched over.
Play With This Too posted the prototype images of Jetstrike (and his recolors) on their web site. They did say they are changing a few things to make the proportions better. I also note that the joints on this prototype are a little loose, which will be fixed. This is only prototype materials.
The toy will come with 3 head options, 2 sets of hands, helmet, wings, as well as arm cannons and maces that come apart into 5mm peg and port pieces to make into different configurations.
Kickstarter will begin in September. This figure will be available in 4 different colors sets as well as unpainted for customizers to come up with their own designs.

Nice. The robot 'Screamer' head should probably be smaller so that it feels more like he is a robot wearing a big human suit of armor - Yeah I know how ridiculous that sounds but it is the Pretender concept ;)
Yeah. It doesn't look like the robot head fits in the human head, but then we have also have had peeks at the PWTToo fiction. This isn't supposed to be a strict updated "Pretender Starscream".
It's "original character" (who just is inspired by Pretender Starscream). In their stories the characters are humans who wear advanced armor that grants them powers. So Jetstrike here is a guy wearing a Starscream-inspired armored suit. That "robot head" is actually a battle mask he wears over his human face, that looks like Starscream. This guy is actually a hero too.
I wonder though, for people who want him a little more Starscream like, how would it look to put the Construct-Bots Starscream head on this body? It's a bit smaller, and more G1 Starscream looking.

You are right of course. I am probably one of the biggest followers of Third Party Transformer fiction out there, most people ignore it completely. I actually read KFC comics, and FansProject comics. They are quite fun.
Thing you have to remember is that Play With This Too is unlike any "third party Transformer" company out there. They are based in the US, and all the owners are publically known former Hasbro employees. They simply cannot make copies of Hasbro characters legally. They know they can make stuff that generally evokes Transformers themes enough to maybe interest fans, but they have to make things original enough to be considered new characters and not piss off Hasbro's legal department. That's why this is a line of 6 inch tall heroic space men fighting space monsters, who just HAPPEN to look a little like some Transformers characters.

Oh, they just announced there will be an all-white figure made for customizers to paint up as this like, and it will haver a fun box:
Quote:
His bio is going to be a Mad Lib that you fill in. He'll come in a white box you can also customize.
You are right from a toy standpoint, but from a FICTION standpoint having it be a human wearing a robot face makes it vastly different from a robot wearing a human face.
Also, I think they did say something about making the heads smaller in general. Also, Jetstrike's guns will be smaller.
First render of Flarestrike, who will be one of the 10 figures available in the Kickstarter which begins next month!

Here are some of the recolors of the figures which will be available as additional items in the Kickstarter which begins September 2015.

There will also be unpainted "customizer editions" of the figures for people to buy which are great for making your own characters.

In related news the BMOG side of things is also going ahead with their new toy, which will be made in several colors.

Play With This Too have said they are shooting for the second Kickstarter to begin in September. It will go for 30 days and end during TFcon USA, which runs October 16th – 18th.
Some new pictures of the Boneyard prototype, including showing it with the new, unpainted chest with ab crunch. We also get a comparison with some other figures from other lines.

With Boneyard's human face being modeled after Schwarzenegger, then is Jetstrike's human face also modeled after a known person?
Looking at the latest painted pics of Jetstrike, he really reminds of Lord Zarak from the Marvel G1 comics.
We have full color painted prototype images of Jetstrike!

This just posted from the PWTToo Facebook page:
I'll just remind you that Rik Alvarez has said in interviews that they were shooting for a 30 day long Kickstarter, and they wanted it to END during TFcon USA, which happens on October 16-18th, so if that's still the plan, I'd count back 30 days from that and you probably have a good guess for when this begins!Quote:

Kickstarter begins Friday and cost is $39 per figure INCLUDING SHIPPING to the USA (or less if you get multiple figures!) $78 for 2 figures, $113 for 3 figures, etc.

Free shipping to USA doesn't really excite us, you know, not being in the US and all...
Fair point. Shipping to non-US locations can be a bear.
I see that shipping for any other country is an extra $14 USD, that means you can get one for about $53 USD, which is about $74 AUD in the current exchange rate? Of course shipping gets to be less per figure the more you buy.
Still, it's cheaper than the last Kickstarter they tried, where one figure was $55 plus $17 USD, or about $100 AUD!
With the Kickstarter finally on the way, I notice that Stonebreaker (in Beast Wars Grimlock white and gold) is a figure that had not been revealed before this Kickstarter began, and also Wrecktifier has been reworked to add a lot of orange that wasn't there on the early previews.

Play With This Too recently released some biographies for two of the characters in their Kickstarter. These give us a glimpse into the fiction of their world. Is there a reason why so many armors looks like Boneyard? It's because he won so many battles, the armor smiths copied it's design. Why is Stonebreaker called that? Ask the Armadas of Granite... I don't really have much experience with toy Kickstarters, I've backed more than a few miniature game ones and some have gone stratospheric. 90 grand is a fair ask, but not to crazy from the manufacturing side, but perhaps a bit tricky for an unknown company that has never produced anything before which means there already a little risky.
Not knowing how much it costs to engage a factory to build these guys, it's hard to say how fair their prices are, but it does seem there is little incentive to jump on the Kickstarter beyond just getting one each of the two molds. Their previous KS was too ambitious, perhaps the pendulum has now swung to far in the other direction.
I dunno other Kickstarters I've seen offer special deals to the first 100 backers, or with regards to some of the possible stretch goals maybe they could have said once they reach a certain threshold all versions of this mold get and extra accessory free. To me those sort of incentives always seem to do well as every time the KS goes up high enough everyone wins, so people start pushing the KS to their friends and they get free advertising of a sort.
Anyway not sure if it applies in this case, but just my musings.
To compare with some other action figure kickstarters (using US prices, your shipping may vary of course).
Boneyard, a 6 inch figure with lots of accessories, is $39 for a figure, and the Kickstarter needs to raise $90,000.
There is a 6 inch ninja action figure with few accessories on Kickstarter right now which costs $45 for one figure (and goes up from there for more complicated figures), and they have a $150,000 goal.
There is also a 4 inch skeleton warrior that's looking for $15 for a skeleton and $25 for a more complicated figure. They are looking to raise $50,000.
So Play With This Too seems to be between those other two.

We just got a run cycle video for Jetstrike:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yK1v_6d2uRE
Also his biography, which may explain why he's a "good guy" in their fiction... he has no choice!
Quote:
JETSTRIKE
Scion of the Sacred Flame
"This power chose me, what I do with it is my business."
For ten millennia the Striker Fleet fought in the galactic arenas to protect life from the force of evil, going so far as to turn evil's power against the Null Miasma itself. The Fleet brooks no defectors, deserters, or thieves and only one being has ever eluded Flarestrike's trackers: the man calling himself Jetstrike.
A small time thief and con artist, he found the body of the original Jetstrike, still clad in its living Aegis armor, on a distant desert world. Donning the armor himself, the thief was shocked to find the living armor accepted and bonded to him. For a time "Jetstrike" ran cons on frontier worlds, posing as a hero to get rewards and resources before fleeing to the next colony, with Flarestrike hot on his trail the whole time. It was raw luck that crossed his path with Boneyard and his Lost Protectors. Forced to pretend to be the former Jetstrike's promoted squire, Jetstrike joined their ranks for protection and to take their armor for himself if they fall in battle.
As Gate Keeper, Boneyard knows Jetstrike's ambitions, but he knows the Aegis he wears and believes there is hope for Jetstrike. This brash, wild spirit may be the Scion of the Sacred Flame, as prophesied by Catastrophles' himself. The Aegis limits Jetstrike's access to his power, rewarding him with more when his better nature shines through. Boneyard sees Jetstrike's skill and power grow with hope, but Jetstrike fears the day his new comrades discover his secret.

See I thought the reason they all resemble each other is because they were reusing the mold, but there's a plot reason for repaints? Cool!
