Apologies to anyone who couldn't find this old thread, i requested it get moved to the toys section :)

I've been watching Macross 7 in an effort to hype myself up for that Fire Valkyrie, and it's working! At first i thought 'wtf is this bizarre singing shit!' but now almost 10 episodes in, they start to explain a few things and, while still bizarre, i'm funding it funny, enjoying the music and eager to see how the story unfolds! Anyone else watched it?

Yeah, I've seen/endured it. :rolleyes:

Given the far more serious tone of DYRL?, Plus, Zero and Frontier it was very off-beat. However in order to understand the later series (especially the ending of Zero), the last 5 or so episodes are required.

I don't like most J-Pop, so I mostly watched it as I worked at my PC at home. "Planet Dance" really takes it's toll after a while...

It looks quite nice, I definitely see some improvements on the YF19, however I'm still not convinced I want a Basara tribute toy, might still wait for an inevitable Blazer Valkyrie repaint/retool.

Yeah I seen it, several years back. Has some decent eps mixed among a lot of mediocre story padding. And I know Basra just wants to sing and make people hear his song, but honestly I never got a sense of his character, who he really was or where he came from, I prefer Gamlin and Ray who seemed to have better back stories. Overall least favourite Macross series, even Macross II rates higher in my book.

That said I did like watching Max and Myria kick ass in VF 22's and would love to see either the Nightmare or the Protodevlin Valkyries in transforming toy form.

Mac 7.

Quite late into Macross 7 I might add, I think they only show up in the fourth quarter going from memory. So if you just started watching Macross 7 it's a long slug till you get to them or any VF 22 action.

I'm just past the episode where Miria goes a bit crazy in her VF-1J :)
