No-no, I don't still listen - I gave up on Radio when I was introduced to Rammstein during a Year 8 German class. :D
Triple J was just a channel I knew that didn't play the typical 'Mainstream Top 10 Pop crap', but they have since seemingly adopted an 'Emo-come-Hippie Top 10 Never Heard Of 'Em crap' approach to their weekly playlists. :(
It just happened to be the station of choice that some co-workers listened to last week.
Am I the only person who sees Metal being only played for 3 hours a week at near Mid-Night times by any public broadcaster an absolute Crock of S***!?!
You are not alone on that. Rage is even crap for this, probably only a couple of new videos played after 3am on a Friday nite, and pretty much most guest specials on a Saturday night are full of crap.
I remember when The Racket was 3 Hours Of Power mid evening on a Friday (this is going back to 2000 or so when Cooper's Brutal Planet was coming out)
I remember getting a phone call from Haug one afternoon so I could read out some gigs :D
I harldy get the chance to watch Underground Sounds on TVS either coz of the stupid hours it's put on. They play some good stuff for about an hour, though one of the hosts bugs the hell outta me lol.
Fair enough mate, it's not for everyone but in saying that, one of the great things about dubstep is the sheer variety on offer (something I don't think a lot of people realise).
Some artists focus on a very sub heavy sound, whereas others prefer the mid-frequency insanity like Skrillex, and then you'll get artists like Burial who create highly atmospheric works positively drenched in reverb. As a whole, the dubstep genre is all about experimentation and really makes its mark with otherwordly sounds generated by layering multiple bass lines, drum hits and then heavy use of effects such as delays, reverb, distortion, eq and so on. Not since IDM has a genre been so open for interepretation, and I absolutely love it. :D
I'm loving the chilled out dubstep tracks of Soundcloud artist Sphinxes at the moment, take a listen to this track - I bet you wouldn't imagine it was dubstep eh? ;)

SKRILLEX! I love Skrillex! :D
Ah well, we had a good friendship. Russian roulette to see which one of us can continue on living :P
lulz, I feel sad now :(
From my experience, all the 'hardcore' gamers I know listen to heavy metal.
That being said, a few of them do like dubstep. I can't stand house, but luckily all the clubs I go to now mix dubstep... So it's alllll gewddd ;)
EDIT: Figure is alright... but the music doesn't contain the same jumpiness that I like about Skrillex :/
If you like Skrillex's sound check out Zomboy, very similar sound and he's absolutely killing it atm http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOeuGksCJfk. Organ Donor is a personal favourite of mine. :D
I hear you man, the early 00s is where everything seemed to peak and then pitter out. :(
Rage has thoroughly lost all of my respect, it used to be the last bastion of Heavy Music vids after Channel V dropped all Metal video clips - I hate you Australian Mainstream Broadcasters!
Thank F*** for Internet Radio, Youtube and Torrents! :D:cool:
Well if you like it man that's cool, I don't dislike the people who listen to the style just the style itself. :p
(Anubis knows that there are plenty of people who don't like Metal, as wrong as those people are :p:D)
Well I certainly approve of their name - Sphinxes :D, love the Chipmunk voice work and I can see what you mean on the Atmospheric argument, they don't seem to go over the top with the bass-lines either.
(A much more stomach-able experience :))
LOL - Russian Roulette?, nah man bugger that; Energon blades over the top of the Smelting Pools of Darkmount! :D:cool:
(It's got to be a suitably Epic fight and location ;):p)
As like I've said to DD, I've got nothing against those who like the style really, just the style itself. ;):)
Oh man, don't get me started on quote: 'Hardcore Gamerz' and Metal - If I ever see another COD video on Youtube with Drowning Pool's - Bodies as the backing track I'm seriously gonna have to take some Quad-Damage to something. :rolleyes:Quote:

One thing that pisses me off to no end, and as time goes on, the more it grates, is the use of slurs like "retard", "retarded", "spastic", etc and how big a pack of Nazis they come across as being.
No I don't mean that in the Godwin's law kind of "Soup Nazi" kind of way; I mean in the kind of literal "the disabled are useless, worthless and I really don't have a problem with sterilising them, experimenting on them and committing genocide on them" kind of way, which is exactly what lies at the heart of that kind of slur.
You'd think that the world would have learned from the Holocaust just where those kinds of attitudes lead. Clearly they haven't.
EXTREMELY pissed off with Jamie from the Parramatta fair atm.
At the end of the November Parramatta Fair, I'df arranged to pick up a TF train set which was supposedly in good condition and complete for $200 which I was happy to pay.
When I picked it up at the Hornsby Fair in April (I hadn't been able to make the Feb Para fair), I discovered that the post to the turret on the gondola had snapped off at the turret post and one of the wings on the caboose was snapped off.
I showed Jamie then and there at the fair as soon as I discovered it, only to have him swear blind "I'll sort it out".
A few weeks passed and nothing. Got worried, especially after a friend of a friend mentioned his own bad experience with Jamie. Jamie's phone kept getting errors or going to missed calls and I never heard back from him. Azrael, who has been an amazing friend through this, managed to get hold of him, at which point Jamie at first told him he was sure he had them and then he was told he'd found a spare coal car (gondola) and was still looking for the other one. Now it turns out that was a total load of crap and he "can't find" either of them.
Admittedly Azrael is now buying it off me for what I paid for it, so the money isn't an issue, but that's not what pisses me off with this.
In all this time I was waiting, there was a glut of tf train set auctions which have since been and gone, which I could have gotten which could have sorted out the problem, only I held off because I trusted Jamie. Big mistake it seems.
I was warned by a friend of a friend that this is what "I'll sort it out" can mean based on his own experiences with Jamie. As much as I hoped he was wrong, it seems like he was right......
I hadn't said he hasn't found them, but that I haven't got hold of him yet. The fair is this weekend and he will be there.
If he has them, I'll get them off him, if not, I will buy the set off you.
He's always had bad luck with phones as long as I've known him.
I can definitely vouch for what Azrael says about Jaimie's phones, he has ridiculously bad luck with them. :p
Don't worry too much Bowspearer, Jaimie will diligently do his best to help you man, he can be slow at times but will always do his best by his customers and that is the very reason why I continue to buy from him after 7 long years. ;):)
Sure enough, so much for both carriages. He had one of them, but the one I really cared about, the one I bought the train set for and the one I've wanted a train set for since I was 6 years old (the caboose), he hasn't got. So much for "I'll sort it out".
So annoyed right now. Covered a couple of shifts this week for a workmate, including today, which meant I missed the Parra fair. All good right? I help them, they help me?
Wrong. Was sick as a dog Friday and needed Saturday off but when I asked said workmate to cover for me they couldn't do it! Last time I put myself out for someone else.
jury duty begins...sigh
Yeah you would think workplaces would place a higher value on loyalty. And people wonder why people don't stay in the one job these days....
Well you never know- always the chance for crazy witnesses et al to make it interesting heh.
Hey, sorry to hear about that.
I usually only buy weapons and loose accessories from Jamie, so I can't say I have encountered such issues. Since Azrael has agreed to take the piece off you, I'm sure you can use to funds to search for another sample on eBay.
From all my time around eBay (have been on it for 11 years), there is almost no such thing that is so rare that it does not come around for sale again at some point... :D
Well, that's people. It happens at all workplaces...
Snow! All flights landing in Dunedin have been cancelled so far.
Fingers crossed that I get away tomorrow, I can't afford Australia anymore :)
Got a parking ticket when I was visiting a client on Friday at Docklands. The worst part is that I put in my card & it was all fine so now I will have to get a pcard statement to try & dispute it.
At least the bomber was cool & wrote in his enotes a full explanation of what happened.
I was pulling out of a parking space on the side of a road after work today, I checked my mirrors and saw no cars but as I started to pull out some guy appeared and I smacked into the side of his car. My front bumper is a mess and my headlight has been pushed back but my car is much better off than his, he has a big dent in the back door panel. My first two cars were bombs and I'm so angry that my first awesome car is the one involved in my very first crash. At least I have insurance. I'm still so angry and upset!!
Funny thing: he noticed the little Optimus Prime hanging from my mirror and we had a discussion about Transformers which picked up my mood a little.
That sux Jena. At least your day could not get any sh-ttier I spose.
And it could have been worse. I've filed an insurance claim so now I'll just have to see how long it takes for my car to be fixed.
Just out of interest, what kind of car do you have?
It's a 2008 Ford Focus.
Sedan? Damn, that must suck...
Wicked numberplate :P
I love my rego number, I got lucky with that one.
I love the rims on that Focus!, they are an awesome colour and quite dressy with that steel rim surrounding the inner tyre but without being over the top; they're highly complimentary to the vehicle. ;)
I also agree with KillingSpoon, very wicked number plates. :D
I am madly in love with my rims for all those reasons. They're not too over the top but way better than some stock standard rubbish. Thanks!
Pffft such a girly car!!!:p
Have you made a bio and think of how it transforms into robot mode?
Pfft, it isn't girly! I've taught male students who have admitted that they'd totally drive it.
When I stuck an Autobot logo badge to the back I tried to think of a name and the robot mode that kept coming to mind was basically like g1 Bumblebee. If I had the time, energy and talent I'd totally design the robot mode for my car.
And I cheer myself up by saying the scratches/dent in my bumper are battle damage.
Another vent... Are Toyworld always such jerks. For one, my local store seem to have insane prices, I mean $139.99 for ROTF leader class Megatron. And the prices very between the same toys, the price changes across all the deluxe reveal the shield toys. My main complaint today is that I went in to cancel a layby that I'd only had on for a month, the lady charged me
$20 in fees, claimed she had stored it for "so long" (a month, wtf?) and she was generally just very rude. I had to spend the other money from the layby as a store credit so I bought some kitbashing stuff for future attempts but I'm still peeved at the $20 of fees just to cancel a layby! Seriously, no wonder there's never anyone shopping in this particular Toyworld.
Am I the only person who thinks "Beep-beep" when ever someone says/mentions the word Barina? :p:D
Small cars aren't girly at all; Hell, I'm 6ft 2inches also and weigh 115-120kg and I want a bloody '60s Mk.III Mini Cooper S! :D:cool:
(Though, according to wikipedia, that may be a little hard with only 1,570 ever produced :()
