ok this one is jus a random one, but thanx for the first answer
seeing as how we have transformers that resemble the crocodile hunter, hannibal lecter and dirty harry, are there any transformers that resemble either denny crane or bill cosby?
G1 Astrotrain - Was he sold in the purple colours shown in the 1985 catalogue?
not till an e-hobby release
The beast wars prime looks like bill cosby!
My questions - are there different variants of G1 Menasors head? Any variants of any other G1 Combiner heads?
Menasor Head Variants And yeah there are others, check the same site Link for more combiner variants.
Do you mean Primal? Cos technically Beast Wars Optimus Prime is this and I'm not seeing the resemblance between that toy and Dr. Cosby... but maybe it's me. :pQuote:

Well based on facial character I reckon there's a similarity between the two. Your own interpretation of a harmless comparison made it racial. Not my intent at all.
The bit about him voicing optimus primal - a joke. Of course he bloody didn't.
There's a little bit of Denny Crane in Kup. Like Denny, Kup is old school, past his prime, held in high regard for his past actions, can't and won't be stopped, maybe going a little nuts at times, has a close friendship with Hot Rod (like Denny's with Alan Shore) and I'm sure Kup is pro-gun.
I was wondering, with the countless reissues, KO's and reimaginings of G1 optimus prime, what do people think of his worth a few years down the track?
With hundreds of AFA original G1 Primes and hundreds more loose/mib in circulation around the world, will this guy ever see a sizeable increase in vintage value again?
Also, comparing this to the rarer (imo) classic G2 Prime, will this black trailored release ever see a value surpassing his 84` counterpart?
Despite all the recreations he will still be a great childhood memory, and one that can be obtained by all.
Who really cares except scalpers?
Despite being quite gaudy and garish it's 'value' will probably go up due to it not being reissued or knocked off for aforementioned reasons.
Demand keeps G1 Prime prices high and although his G2 toy is technically rarer, it has no where near the same level of demand so they go for cheaper.
+10 QFT!! :)Quote:

Hahaha, the dreaded enemy of collectors? Or maybe only collectors in well stocked areas... I'm sure most people here wouldn't hesitate to hand money to scalpers if it was the only way to get that ellusive toy.Quote:

What do 'gaudy' and 'garish' mean? Just sounds like irish names or something to me. Aren't g2 toys colourful and fresh??Quote:

hi guys
ive always loved transformers since i was a kid a good 15yrs ago.
now that im a student/have job etc. i can start to collect my favourite ones i never got the chance to own.
id love to own a predaking, bruticus, devastator, menasor, defensor and superion to a lesser extent. pretty much all the combiners and just plain cool ppl like megatron, astrotrain, soundwave etc.
how would i go about obtaining these transformers? what would be the going price of these?
note that i only want the toys how they were displayed in g1. dont mind if its a reissue or what not.
Hello and welcome
The combaticons/Bruticus are being re-released this year, so your in luck:)
Soundwave as well, but i doubt it will have an Australian release, there was a reissue of it a few yrs back at Toys R Us.
The rest you would have the best luck at toy fairs or Ebay
i think someone on this forum has a Megatron in box for sale
i actually found a site with bruticus, bigbadtoystore.com
if its being re-released does that mean you could pick one up from a target,k mart etc. or would only specialist shops have them?
is the best way to keep up to date with releases by just checking out these shops regularly?
I suggest you dont buy it from BBTS if you do intend to get it. Somewhere like toy-wave.com or robotkingdom.com or hlj.com will give you a better shipping rate than BBTS
and no they wont be in retail, not unless you live somewhere like Japan or Singapore etc :)
Bruticus is relased at the end of July this year for your own information :)
as for your other combiner wants, your probably looking at predaking to be your most expensive, but getting them 100% complete will cost more too. looks like US ebay will be your biggest friend for a while :P
good luck and welcome
noobaking: FYI it is forbidden for Hasbro to sell TakaraTOMY's Transformers in Australian retail stores and vice versa for TakaraTOMY to sell Hasbro's TFs in Japanese stores, unless they have sought permission from each other (e.g.: Hasbro's release of Masterpiece Ultra Magnus and Convoy w/ trailer in Target). So basically any time you want a Japanese Transformer, as blackie said - you can either purchase it from a retail store in Japan, or order it online. You can also purchase them from local import stores too; there's a few in Sydney such as Silly Dream, Games Infinity (although they're a rip off) and one in the Capitol Square building etc. If you come along to the next Sydney CBD fan meet we can show you where these stores are located. :)
is there any difference between the Takara and Hasbro ones? is one more sought after than the other?
in the car world, ppl tend to prefer parts from japan over other parts of the world. Is this the case with transformers?
ohh theres one in the capitol square. ill have to have a look for it next time in there. Top level near all the photo machines?
blackie is right. :)
Yeah... but away from those machines. When you go up the escalators take a left. Not sure if they have any G1 reissues there or not. Oh, you may notice some toys that look like G1 reissues near the Gashapon machines but don't be fooled - they're fakes.Quote:

What has a better paintjob out of TakaraTomy and Hasbro ROTF Sideswipe? Hasbro's looks kind of dull, Takara's looks cool but haven't seen any pics aside from official photos.
Here's some comparison pics. I'll likely go Takara with this one. Otherwise, Sideswipe and Sideways' colors (and names?) are too similar.
...I thought your question was about Sideswipe, not Sideways. ??
Anyway, here's a picture of TakaraTOMY's Sideswipe (right):

And here are some photos of Hasbro's. Took me a while to find some undoctored images! (grrrr)
Whoops. Sorry enforcer.
There have only been two 1st wave figures that I've heard have differences between the Hasbro and Takara versions, and they are Sideways (as shown) and Breakway (again with a darker color). I have seen nothing directly said or shown about Sideswipe or any others.
Hey what do we think the likelyhood is of japan getting a better version of ROTF leader prime before we do? i.e some sort of premium version
I don't have my old G1 Scourge anymore, but now I have the targetmaster version. Any differences between the two bodies? I can't seem to notice anything  or maybe I'm just a noob.
