I'm all for cartoon accuracy since I grew up watching the cartoon and I only had a few Transformer toys growing up but I always wondered why they didn't look like they did in the show. The MP Cars to me are an exception since they go for real world looks in the alt mode and that compromise is fine to me but with fictional designs like Ultra Magnus I prefer him cartoon accurate to a tee like they've done with the MP even his transformation is the same.
With the Starscream mold, MP11 is my pick especially for his color scheme where the Hasbro G1 colored Starscream favored darker blue to homage his original G1 toy the Takara release used light blue to match his cartoon appearance. When or if they do Ironhide/Ratchet I'd prefer an alt mode that matches their real world counterpart as these toys are the worst G1 toys for cartoon accuracy of the lot. There was a time I was considering buying a full set of G1 S1 characters but I never wanted these 2.

The MP line is by far the best out there! I love & prefer that line to any other or 3rd party, in saying that some 3rd parties are actually stepping their game up. The (MP)figures are more solid & are accurate as can be. Pretty sure it would be near impossible to make them cartoon accurate due to engineering of individual figures but I think they have done an awesome job & it will only get better
I too as well as pretty much everyone else watched the cartoons as a kids but unlike everyone else couldnt even afford the toys way back when BUT am now making up for lost time!

Due to the fact that Has/TT have taken the time to release these for older fans and they have done an awesome job of it. There are certain aspects of the toys that are off a little, overall it is not a real concern to me. As i think that if the toy represents what the idea of a transformer that could have been designed back in 84. I see that even the 3P have got some great ideas as well, they even sit on my MP shelf.

I think in terms of accuracy they started off pretty badly (looking at you, MP-03) but things got pretty good starting from MP-08 and, more recently, have become pretty damn awesome.
As someone who loved the cartoons and hated the majority of the toys as a kid because I wished that they were better engineered, I'm happy that 30 years on, we have access to these Masterpieces and that they are "close enough" to what was in the cartoons.
