Now I am going to have to get Acid Storm again ...
Great news Hasbro. Just need to re-release Skywarp on a single card (maybe in Classics 4)
Does anyone think this will have an impact on the Takara Thundercracker?
If Dirge and Thrust are any indication... for sure.
After Kup, Scourge, Jazz and now Thundercracker (and I'm sure there are others), I will most likely not bother buying Botcon Classics-ish toys any more, especially if they're major characters, as it now seems pretty certain that Hasbro or TT will eventually provide. Personally, I think that's a much more preferable option, as FunPub hasn't done anything for me lately (read: ever), and obviously the mass market price is considerably better.
Remaining Botcon Classics-ish characters I can think of that haven't hit mass market:
Sharkticon
Dreadwind
Bug Bite (obscure character)
Any others?
A Generations Dreadwind would rock, but I wonder how many fans it would tick off. Plus we got Darkwind not a year ago.
Still I'd love to see Hasbro make a combining Dreadwing.
AM Thundercracker would have made a great Botcon toy this year, seems weird they didn't go for it, maybe they are saving him for the TF club.
One thing I just realised is that those official images are usually over-coloured, so the actual Thundercracker may well end up being a lighter shade of blue. Probably not as light as the cartoon version, but could end up being a different enough colour from the BotCon or JP versions to help them keep their uniqueness/value.
And perhaps FunPub's exclusives/redecos are like a catch-22 - they want them to be popular enough to sell out, but if they are too popular, Hasbro might see the value in releasing them to the general market.
When TC reaches aussie stores I probably can't be stuffed trying to find Starscream or Skywarp molds because of their current rarity and price and will now buy 3 TCs and repaint 2 of them! Or should it be 4 for Sunstorm too? WOO!
I'd agree with all of those.
And in the cases of Springer, Ratchet, Ironhide, Kup & Scourge, they've all seen after-Botcon mass-market releases (although Springer as only a repaint). The first four are a bit more obscure, but I wouldn't be surprised if we eventually see a mass-market Huffer.
To me, something like AM or G2 Thundercracker would be so much more suited to a Botcon release. It's more obscure, has considerably less mass-market appeal and considerably more hardcore-fan appeal.
