Dredd 3D was incredible. Loved the psychic power gags and Dredd's deadpan one liners. A perfect mix of action and B-grade comedy gold. :)
I just saw Kung Fu Panda 2 for the second time now. Once again, it almost made me cry at the end, very emotional movie. I don't see how you couldn't like it. Really deep and little comedy bits sprinkled here and there. Pure Bodaciousness.
And Olivia Thirlby (Judge Anderson) is AWESOME!!!!
Saw Loopers last night, really enjoyed it.
Bleak portrayal of the future, teamed with some really interesting ideas about time travel. Recommended if sci fi is your bag, definitely enjoyable!
:)
I'm not surprised, it scored 94% on Rotten Tomatoes. Then again, I don't trust reviews that much as Total Recall got panned by critics but I enjoyed it immensely (probably had something to do with Kate Beckinsale being in it though...).
i'll have to check out total recall if you say you enjoyed it.... part of the reason i'd avoided it was because it got such bad reviews! lol :)
Watching The Cold Light of Day (2012 film starring Henry Cavill and Bruce Willis) and the script is just .... ...DID ANYONE EVEN PROOFREAD IT?!?!?!?
I watched Paranormal Activity 3 the other day. It was alright, not too scary, just a tiny bit creepy and in-explainable. I really liked the camera capture style that they used, though kind of predictable.
I had a hunch it was possessing the bear at first.
Anyway, 3/5 stars for me. I haven't seen the first 2, but I know it has some connection to the first two.
If anyone has the opportunity in Sydney or Melbourne to checkout the movie in my Sig, please do! - I want to see it hopefully before I go in for eye surgery on the 12th. :o
Just watched Exit Through The Gift Shop. A Banksy film.
A heart-warming film about how some people can be total douche-bags/rip off merchants their whole life and not even realise. ;)
If you like your street art you might like this , a bit slow in parts but worth a watch.
p.s. Banksy rocks.
With Michael Bay's new film 'Pain and Gain' coming out this year about roid-raging robbers doing a botched robbery I decided to research the supposed 'based on a true story' and found the actual article in which it is based on here:

Going to be interesting seeing how the movie portrays these real people....
Just watched the Hobbit. There was a bit of filler I thought, probably to tie it to the LOTR but I didn't mind it. Returning to that world was fantastic and even though it ran for nearly 3 hours I was surprised how quickly that went. So much so that I found the ending quite abrupt.
Still I enjoyed it immensely and can't wait for the next installment.
You know what's awesome, I had a LOTR marathon yesterday and was amazed at the number of references made towards The Hobbit. Rewatch them all and you'll see what I mean.
(I'm aware that the fiction was established well before the movies for anyone wanting to point that out to me ;)).
End of Watch. See it. NOW!
Make sure you have a comfortable couch or you'll pay for it later ;) :p
Finished watch Fellowship of the Ring. Good movie. Especially after watching the Hobbit. The start was a bit confusing but it really got into it around the middle and late parts. Now I have to put aside even more time to watch the Two Towers. Is it any better?:D
Two towers is much better than fellowship, even with all the non book additions!
Saw Wreck it Ralph. Very good kids film. Nothing much for non gamer adults. As beautiful as it looks, it's is a very simple Disney film, nothing on the same level as Pixar films in terms of jokes and references for all ages.
My fiancé liked it, but got about 2 game references, missing the rest Did not detract from the film for her at all. In fact she wanted to play Mariokart when she got home.
Watched "The Cabin in the Woods" last night... Not what I expected. The stoner dude was quite funny:D
Do yourselves a favour and go watch Django Unchained. Movie of the year IMO (I know we're only 23 days into the year but anyway...). Put simply, if you're a fan of Quentin Tarantino movies, you'll LOVE this
Batman the dark knight returns part 1 and 2, freaking brilliant.
Life of Pi is on Apple TV now. Is it good enough for American price?;)
Absolutely! Initially, I believe, they were going to do a Sin City style live action version, but I'm glad they went for animation. Probably as good as it was going to get on screen, although I did think that some of the scenes were a little rushed and sometimes it got a bit irritating as the thought bubbles from the graphic novel were converted into spoken lines in the movie. But these are minor quibbles! Seeing the looks on the Mutant gang members faces as Bats takes care of their leader, the clear reference to Reagan as President and the fantastic battle between Batman and Superman that could only end in one way - a thoroughly satisfying pair of movies! Not as dark as Frank Miller's masterpiece so if you haven't read the graphic novel I'd watch the movie first then read it if you want to get more of the nuances, but if you're a Bat-fan, these are a definite watch!
Yeah you're right! Miller's take on the Batman and his relationship with Robin (Jason and Carrie), Gotham, bad guys, Superman just nailed it exactly. I loved the line in the end from Bats to Sups - "Really? Who do they send after you?" :)
I was rewatching some Studio Ghibli films like Warriors of the Wind, Castle in the Sky, My Neighbor Totoro and Spirited Away, and even watching them for the nth time, I am still blown away by how awesome these films are. They seem so magical and the fantasy elements are so well done. It's sad to see that their recent films lacked some of that magical fantasy touch that made their older films so great.
Tried watching Kill Bill for the first time since seeing it in the cinemas. I really want to like this movie but can't get into it. I love Tarantino films so what's the problem
I have a petty grudge cause of Kill Bill, whenever I cosplay in my Bruce Lee game of death outfit, the youngsters who don't know better say "Cool Kill Bill outfit", oh how disappointed I am at the younger generation...
A friend just pointed me to watch tron uprinsing:eek: OMG it really good.!!! this is what the movie should of been ! i totally recommend everyone to watch this... the best animated series i seen in a while....
Just watched Jack the Giant Slayer And i got to say it was quiet entertaining ...but looking back at it and the acting was abit wooded and the story too predictable but what do you expect for a fairytale remake.. The CG is average and the film mainly aim for kids...so i give it a 6.5/10 you rather rent this one then watch it in the cinemas
