Green set arrived today.
Haven't even had a change to open the main shipping box. Not sure exactly when that'll be, Tuesday by the latest, I'm guessing?

Blue lion arrived today.
No complaints. It all looks good.
I also received the subscription bonus figure: Sven. I was expecting him to be boxed like all the other pilots, but instead he's on a blister card, like a normal action figure. Looks great, and it makes for a nice presentation, but I imagine some will be annoyed the packaging doesn't match.
Just black lion to go, and then... well, then I have a tough decision to make!
Thanks for the updates Cat! My jealousy grows with each lion. When contemplating your big decision, (and despite any flaws) remember to also think if you would be kicking yourself in 5-10-15 years if you let it go..
^Nah, what am i saying.. I want one! So.. remember to also think how bad you would feel if this guy topples over and crushes a child.. <- Too far?
Also, moar group lion pics pls. :D
Black lion finally arrived yesterday.
I don't think I even need to mention how big the thing is, but DAMN!
It's all done now, I just need to decide what I want to do with it.
If only they did a Vehicle Voltron for next year :(
Pics or it didn't happen.
Thriced!
Pics coming tomorrow.
It'll just be boxed pics though, as I've decided I am going to sell these. I'll be keeping the pilots and stands only.
And yes, Black Lion is bigger than my cat!
how much are you selling the set for?
I too have a full set to sell, Unopened lions, Pilots and Sven...
I changed my shipping to UPS and have had Voltron towering over a (mini)Fort Max for a month now...
I'm entertaining offers. It's hard to gauge with something like this.
On eBay US they've consistently being going between 510-630.
Also keep in mind that they only have local shipping. For a normal person to ship them from the US to here would be a few hundred dollars. I can't see it being possible at anything under $150 international, and I think even that would not be enough.
So you get the advantage of cheap shipping for them from me, as mine are obviously here in Brisbane.
All lions are MISB, in their mailer boxes. You also get the complete buildable blazing sword, which is an awesome looking piece.
I'm just keeping the pilots and stands.
I'd go with a courier to ship these, and I'd expect it to cost around $40-60. That's just a guess, it could be less. I haven't had much experience from couriers, but I used one last month on a heavier item and it was only $60.
So, weigh all that up, and if you're interested, send me a message/offer. :)
This set is beautiful. I just don't have the space for it. It is the ULTIMATE Voltron, and one which I doubt we'll see surpassed. When are we likely to get another Voltron toy anyway, let alone one of this size and quality.
This is a centrepiece of a Voltron/Mecha collection, and is a must-have.
It's also hard to find, Especially one that's already in the country (save yourself hundreds on shipping).
Whoever buys it, will be thrilled with it. I'm sure of that.
This is the Ultimate Voltron, and possibly even the last one.
Don't miss out on it. It's not going to drop in price either. And its only going to get rarer still as the few available are snapped up for hardcore fans. It's the Hot Toys of the Voltron world.
I'll have some pics up hopefully tonight. And yes, although I don't think it really needs to be said, it is bigger than my cat!!

I got bored so I finally put him together
Yep that's freaking awesome!!!
Is it really awesome? I've been watching the horrors about it from collection dx.
For the price you pay its totally not worth it.
Still looks like a cheap plastic knock off. Like the plastic is brittle or something.
Just my observations.
Yeah I tend to agree with VGM. Finally seeing photos/video of it all put together I can't help but feel disappointed. If this was 1988 I would be in awe of it. But considering that it's 2012, for the price I expect a greater level of detail and engineering.
And have they been taking lessons off Hasbro? There is an awful lot of _almost_ Hasbro grey on it
:(
It needs friggin chrome!!!!!
I think (iirc) that the grey is meant to make it more accurate to the cartoon colours.
I think it just looks cheap. After seeing those colours and that short video of the spring loaded legs they set up before the ordering was out, I had made up my mind to avoid it.
The grey is there because it is cheap. It is clear that this is the case.
Hasbro has been using this for years and since Matty decided to cheapen out in their 'Collector grade' lines for the last year, they have been substituting whites and silvers for it just like Hasbro. Recently they decided that 'Snow' should be an ugly grey instead of white and that Uncle Sam is not longer Red, White and Blue but Red, Grey and Blue  The red and Blue are also that dull shade that Hasbro likes to use.
Clearly some paint colors are 'cheaper' than others in manufacturing.
"Paint" colours? you think that's painted???
The WHITE paint is amazingly brights..... that grey is crappy plastic
Actually it doesn't look that good assembled now
Actually I think I'll just keep my 150 dollar cheap Toynami with metallic bits and not try and buy it now for around 750!!!
They have to dye it to that color dude. The plastic does not magically become whatever color it's molded into. However I will agree that it is also crappy plastic. Recently Mattel decided to mold their MOTUC figures black and then paint over them because it was cheaper than molding the plastic into different colors.
Hasbro uses the same grey because it is cheaper than using a pristine silver. They also like to use that off-white grey instead of white for the same reason.
Its funny really. They use cheaper plastics. Therefore the figures are cheaply made. Yet they charge more for them and prices keep going up.
I don't know about you but to me that makes a whole lot of sense!
No wonder I only buy Japanese figures.
That's the way Capitalism works...
And yet I laugh when people say the market is able to cater for the needs of the consumers without any outside interference.
And politics rant over.
Having watched pixel dans and other's videos on this toy, I am still glad I passed it up. I'd rather spend the same money on an unofficial Devastator...
So I finally got my Black Lion today. and well, despite it's flaws, I love it. I love this thing. I love that it's a massive heavy brightly coloured piece of plastic. I made a little happy noise when i put it all together and pressed the chest piece for the automatic Head forming action. that was AWESOME.
but it does have it's flaws, it feels slightly cheap and it's ridiculously top heavy. (although if this was made of Diecast metal it would weigh a ton and if it fell off your shelf on to your head it would kill you.)
in combined mode the spring loaded gimmick is irritating and i feel that once the gears wears out it will be useless. Oh and the whole massive collect and connect blazing sword NOT being able to light even though that was promised us is more Mattel crap.
And I honestly can't in good conscience recommend it to the casual Mecha fan.
Seriously. spend your money on Super robot Chogokins rather that this. looking back i tink it cost me 500 dollars for it. that's insane.
This is for hardcore fans of Voltron and for people who still love Toys that are Toys for playing with.
I appreciate it as a "What If" sort of toy and think that if 5 year old Tallest unwrapped it on Christmas day in 1986 his head would explode, making the five ugly Voltron lions and their strange dumpy pilots from the 80s look like piles of puke.
So...yeah. I like it. I get why people don't. It's still awesome to have.
I've waited two weeks, and still haven't heard back.
My Voltron is still available for sale. All 5 MiSB lions, and BAF sword. You get it all except the pilots and figure stands.
lMk if anyone's interested, before I chuck it on my list.
A friend is selling a Classics Voltron Black Lion - $140.
Please PM me if anyone is interested.

Oops forgot price.
It's $480. Remember lions are all MISB. You just don't the pilots or the figure stands.
My priece is already cheaper than EBay's going prices (Completed Listings).
They're also already here. It'd cost a lot to ship them all from America to Oz. Here we've a got a lot of options, local pick-up, courier, etc. plenty of ways to minimise shipping. These babies are huge!!
