OK... so, Bumblebee is not a VW and Megatron's alt mode is a tank. I gotta say, I'm slightly disappointed now :(

It's more about sticking to the 'rules' of the universe as developed. BB turns into a car that moves by developing friction against the ground, 20 feet up in the air there is no friction. if exactly the same attack was performed at ground level I wouldn't have a problem with it.
ditto.
Bear in mind that Devastation was developed in Japan, and physics takes a back seat in Japanese video games. ;) I see these attacks as kinds of super-combo attacks. ;)

I've been recently watching some interviews with the game developers, and they were saying that the people who developed this game love playing with Transformers toys, and that they would even have days when everyone would bring a Transformer toy to work and they'd just get down and play with them. :D And the developers have stated that they have based many of their models on existing toys. I think that this is incredibly awesome, and that their love for the toys seems to shine through in the game. As one previewer has stated, the game play is reminiscent of toy play. And so many of the game characters are clearly inspired by existing toys or the G1 cartoon model (which in turn are replicated by Masterpiece toys) -- so it feels like I could easily replicate most characters in this game with my Classicsverse and MP toys! :D

I really, really, really hope that Hasbro is working on releasing figures for all those "Vehicons." ;)
I assumed that the release date was October 6th but apparently the Aussie release date is October 8th.
Glad I found out today before I popped down to EB to grab my preorder tomorrow. Disappointed that there are no preorder bonuses with this game. With FOC got some cool posters and even with ROTDS you at least got some multiplayer skins.
Yeah, I was surprised too that we were two days behind the US release, when the last few TFs games have been same day, which gave us a 8-12 hour headstart.
The lack of bonus stuff this time does suck, and I couldn't even find any promotion of it at a couple of EBs near me... not even on their weekly upcoming/preorder flyer that they will have stuck on the wall somewhere.
And Activision in Australia are impossible to contact about games, so I can't even communicate with them to see what promotions they are actually doing, or what can be done.
Because if these non-Movie games bomb in sales, we might only end up with the odd movie based games in future... and we all know how poorly those sorts of games rate in general.
Preorder "digital bonuses" are evil anyway and should not be encouraged. Swag is ok but witholding/locking content is a bad marketing practise leading to poorly finished games.
But yes the lack of general advertising for the game does concern me.
I've noticed that reviews have started making their way onto youtube for those interested.
There's a review in this month's Gameinformer magazine (which I was flicking through at EB while pre-ordering), and it was just a page with very little indication of the reviewer even playing it. It was more about the Transformers characters and brand... and I didn't see anything written about the game that hasn't been made public months ago.
I remember older TFs games having multi-page reviews, with images and details you'd only get from playing the game (I'd often buy those magazines to keep, just because of that Transformers game review)... but this one just wasn't worth it.
Haven't watched it in months but might check out Good Game online (after I've had a play to avoid more spoilers) to see their review. They loved FOC
Guess I better finish Rise of The Dark Spark:o
just watched one review:

basically it's really short (campaign is less than 5 hours, "challenge modes" can extend things) and the environments are very repetitive however the combat is solid and nostalgia is high and very well handled. if you love transformers AND platinum style games then it's a buy now but if you are more one or the other it may not be worth the asking price at the moment...personally i think I am going to wait for a sale.
Some concept artwork from the game, including the Battlechargers, who I thought was Wheeljack when I scrolled down to the car mode... so maybe a Wheeljack toy out there somewhere has a redeco potential.
Only a day from its official release in America, people have apparently already been playing out the game, so there are probably reviews or play-through videos online by now. (I'm not going to hunt them down before playing the game.)
Looks like you can buy it now.

Just got the big w catalogue and it has the game at $44! I know where I'm getting the game from :D
Some of the HK boys have been posting up their gameplay from the PS4 and it looks awesome! It is one of the few games I could happily just sit and watch someone else play for the sheer enjoyment although I do plan to pick it up for my son at some point.
Also looks like if this one is successful there is scope for a sequel/add-on's if one of the guys who has already clocked the game is to be believed (I won't spoil)...
I don't want to buy it without trying it or similar. Can anyone recommend an XBOX 360 game they do that is similar? Hoping to download the demo for that to try.
Thanks
Will do. Thanks.
Hey guys I can't seem to find the game in BIGW. Is the PS4 version $44 too?
It isn't released in stores until tomorrow. EB would not sell it to me even though it was on the Xbox store.
Just got a text from EB Canberra Centre saying that I can pick it up now. :D
From what I've seen of the gameplay it is very much a Platinum game wrapped in a G1 skin. If Legend of Korra news anything to go by you might be better off waiting until the price drops to around $30.
Bought it on Steam and it's already unlocked now, haven't played any action games in ages so it's pretty new to me. Game starts off easy but when I vs'd Megatron as Sideswipe it was like I just hit a road block took me over a dozen attempts to beat him.
you can change the difficulty setting to scout .... should make it easier, it basicly a button masher game any ways ..... i get really annoyed when that happen ... the boss is impossible to kill and the other are just so easy... well i past the first area ....it pretty long ... there no tutorial for the upgrades and so, but it pretty easy to work out... they action is quiet good and the graphic i just love that cell shade style... the voice is like how i remember them so they did a good job of that . It getting pretty repetitive but at least your seeing different character turning up so it more of a fan game.... wheeljack just join my party :)
I like to play games on the middle setting/normal as most people should be able to handle it but it's been a long time since I played a straight up action game as I usually play WoW, Hearthstone and a bunch of adventure games.
50% off on Steam for PC gamers interested :)
