I really hope that the rumors of an official Magnus repaint with armor are true.
I'm not sure how to embed links, but one of the Takara designers has uploaded pics to his twitter showing an MP-10 in a carved up G1 UM armour. Try:

I hope it's true. I'm really on the fence with MP-10. I've picked up all the other MP convoys and UM so I just cant justify it at the moment. But If this comes true, I'll have to get MP10.
This is an amazing looking figure... can't wait to get mine!
Horrible timing for this guy to be released. I decided to put in my order, and then I saw how far the AUD plummeted overnight :( Definitely having second thoughts.
Id really like to get this!! Im not into G1 bricks usually(in the 80s ..yes....not 2011!) but have a soft spot for a big G1 Optimus:)
Want it, don't have the money for it, waiting on some reviews to decide if I get it for an expensive birthday present or something later.
Just got shipping notice from Robot Kingdom!!!!!!! Hopefully here by next friday!!!!!!!
Got my RK shipping notice too!
Heaaaaaps of photos here:
9: Beginning of Act II (TF MP-10 Convoy play many Ver2)
1: A New Start (MP-10 Convoy Vehicle Mode Ver2)
2: They also, Optimus (TF MP-10 Convoy Containers & Roller Ver2)
4: The impression is strong, silent type (TF MP-10 Optimus Prime robot mode Ver2)
5: Fight! Super Robot Life Form! ! (TF MP-10 Optimus Prime robot mode action Ver2)
8: Health dock (TF MP-10 Convoy dock maintenance Ver2)
I think i'm really going to enjoy this toy, despite it missing a lot of MP-1's gimmicks. They've nailed the look of both modes completely; the detail on the trailer is through the roof!
Being a smaller size he'll be nicer to play/fiddle with and i'm also surprised and overjoyed that spike can sit in Alternity toys, that can also drive into Prime's trailer! That just settled where he's going to display on my shelf, since i'm not gonna pack away MP-1 anytime soon.
They're different enough that both are worthy and i guess that's the best we could have hoped for.
Holy  .. MP-10 looks sooo good!!! I already had interest in this from early pics, but after the full blown pics... (and mp-10 alongside classics figs..:D)
Too bad I don't have enough funds to spare for this at the moment. For a piece like this, despite an inevitable Hasbro release down the line, the high potential for a much worse paint job/ shortened smokestacks and other cuts makes me want MP-10 even more!
Re: MP Ultra Magnus- If there is concrete news that there will be a fully armored up MP- UM, then I will have to start saving for that.. no way Id miss out on that. However, from what I've read of rumors on TFW- it seems the next MP will be a new starscream/seeker.
Well I managed to find the cash for one, but after seeing those pictures with the Classic bots, I really want to get one to open.
Well, I caved in. Not opening him until my birthday in December but I gots one.
Hooray for living in Japan!
I'm in a similar boat to Kup, if the line is to be rebooted then this is a pretty poor move IMO.
As Optimus, this MP-10 mold means very little to me and I'll only be buying it if it is used for a proper Ultra Magnus. ;)
It gets pretty boring very quickly when the same 4 characters keep being used, though, apparently via Twitter; 2 of the MP engineers put it to their followers who they'd most like to see as the next MP after Megatron 2.0 and the overwhelming majority voted Soundwave - This pleases me greatly.
As awesome as this is I can't justify $250, not for another prime. I already have the original hasbro MP and the MP-04 as well If it was $100 I'd jump on it, but not for $250, there is probably going to be a glut of MP-01 and MP-04 on the second hand market now too.
Kinda annoying that this line might be heading towards the path of a reboot, heard rumors of Megatron and Starscream 2.0 ..
A smaller Megatron to be in scale with Convoy .. I can agree to that
But what was wrong with Starscream that he needs to be re-done again.
Move onto new characters, like Shockwave and Soundwave who are in scale with Convoy v2, Grimlock, Starscream and Rodimus.
Nevar Forget!

In all seriousness though, i agree.
Prime i can tolerate since i only have MP-01 and thus no trailer...
Megatron just to get him in scale is OK, but Starscream?
I don't have a problem with the original, nor do i want them to go through the endless repaints again before getting to what i have wanted since the beginning - MP Galvatron dammit!
Looks good and I'll probably get this, but still disappointed...
I'd love to see any of the following get the MP treatment next:
Soundwave (possible)
Jazz (unlikely ?)
Bluestreak (very unlikely)
Hound (very unlikely)
Omega Supreme ()
Although Omega would be awesome, the scale would suck OR we would be massive and thus cost a thousand.
I have only bought Hasbro MP up until now so this will be my first OP and I am really looking forward to him. I really hope they don't remake the seekers as IMO there was really not much wrong with them from what I can see on my screamer and skywarp (I'll seriously lose my shit if they remake them and do the usual repaints). From the pics I've seen Megs needs a better (more creative) version and Ultra Magnus armor would be great too! How long before there's an amazing unofficial one though. I really hope that for once they listen to the fans and make MP Soundwave and Blaster.
Galvatron
Galvatron
Galvatron
Galvatron
Galvatron
Shockwave
To be honest not sure I want, or its likely we'd ever see Autobot car, for one thing there's the licensing issue, and if they don't use the original vehicle modes there are already Binaltechs and Alternitys to fill that niche.
Come on people how can you miss Op's right hand man Ironhide, Really:rolleyes::p:D
Hasbro could save money by releasing an MP Ironhide without his head, since they like their G1 toy-accurate decos!
Soundwave is sooo uncrushomatic :p
Galvatron or Shockwave or another dinobot pweeez! :)
I really want a MP Cyclonus i reckon that would be rockin!!
Just got the MP-10 and while the dimensions and looks of this Optimus Prime is anime accurate - it just feels SO CHEAP - no diecast whatsoever except on the feet and still the same price as the old MP too??
Cost cutting much? That then pretty much leaves MP-01 as probably the only Masterpiece in the line with any substantial diecast content. sorry, in MP-10 there should have been more diecast esp. in the body and legs - red plastic really sucks.
OUCH! For that price I would have thought it'd be mainly diecast, talk about a rip-off. I will give it this, It is a very nice looking MP but unfortunately it's just another Prime as far as I'm concerned.
Yeah talk about OUCH, granted it is a very anime accurate Prime - but compared to the original MP-01 there just simply is no comparison - just feels real cheap, compared to the real diecast heft that's there in MP-01.
No gimmicks whatsoever no working suspension and plastics all over really kills it
I think you're being a bit harsh! The new one makes the oldie feel a bit clunky... especially when it comes to posing. The plastic quality and vibrancy of the colours seems pretty good to me also, better than on Rodimus Prime at least.
I really wanted to like this one. New transformation sequence and design, inclusion of roller and Spike. Side mirrors! I just don't feel it like I did with the original MP Prime. MP 10 is undeniably cleverly designed, but the near absence of die cast or electronics, no minor gimmicks (moving faceplate etc.), out of scale weapon and smaller size coupled with the high price tag just can't get me over the line :(. Even though Has/Tak milk the popular characters, this is the first time (for me anyway) where it really feels like the MP Prime idea is just being milked.
Like many others I'd love to see some other characters get the MP treatment, especially Omega Supreme. With him being a parts-former, I can see his various parts being a bonus with the next few MP releases, then a final release with his tank and rocket (maybe) to spread the cost. It's not likely but I can hope :).
yeah roller should have had the turning wheels that THS02 has! tho i paid about 250 myself... i dont think it's worth that much ... but dont really care... i know i should though :p
keep in mind that in japan he's only going for about 16,000Y, thats about 3,000Y more than MP04 cost, 5 years later.
Compared with MP09, it's about the same, unfortunately just the way things are :( Smart thing would have been to wait for Hasbro version if you knew you would feel this way about trailer!
Yeah, I guess at the end of day, having the chance to play with it a few times - this probably is the sort of Masterpiece that you can play with day in and day out and one thing it's got going for it is that the extreme poseability factor compared to MP-01 - this Prime's just leagues ahead!
Yeah, it's a great mold. Lack of (imho useless) gimmicks aside, the real problem is the price (realistically about $200 + shipping) which is largely due to the strong Yen.
The plastic is high grade ABS, not the cheap, brittle KO stuff.
If people want to wait a year or so for the local release, that's their prerogative. But I wouldn't expect the price to be sub $200, although I was pleasantly surprised by MP Rodimus.
For me, the price is the biggest obstacle. The size is good as you could put it in with classics. If they decide to re do megatron in this size, I wonder if they will keep the realistic gun mode, or change it to something else like perhaps a cybertronian gun or a tank like generation 2 megatron? But only in keeping the original G1 colors and theme. Only saying this so it doesn't become a problem with customs or gun laws etc. I would hate if they redid Starscream, just seems a waste.
Well for future releases Id like to see Galvatron, Soundwave (including minions). Ultra Magnus with trailer and armour, Blaster (including minions), and how about triple changers Astrotrain, Blitzwing, Springer
Eh, we'll probably get a MP Bumble or somethIng before a Soundwave.:(
As a minor aside, what's the big deal over heaps of diecast? Didn't it make MP1 etc kinda top-heavy and hard to pose?
I'm all up for it when it serves a stability or durability purpose but die cast for the sake of die cast seems a bit pointless to me... Is it like a nostalgia thing or what?
It's sorta nostalgia. Goes back to the original Chogokin toys of the 70s where spaceships and super robots didn't feel "right" to kids unless they were full of metal that reflected the scale of the robots.
Diecast is still associated with quality although few toys, even the DX lines, still have any beyond essential internal frames.
Cheers, that sorta makes sense.:)
I really like the look of this mould (particularly the cab, which is a vast improvement over MP-1), save for the thin upper arms in robot mode. I'd get it... if I didn't already have MP-1/20th Anniversary Optimus.
As others have stated, I'd like to get this mould as an MP Ultra Magnus with trailer/armour.
