Speeder bike paint finished and put together a Bandai stormtrooper. I might airbrush some scorch marks on the bike later.

I painted the main colour then used a small piece of sponge to dab on some light grey. Misted over the main colour again to blend it all in. The chips are done with a silver pencil and I did some light shading with my airbrush. I also did some streaking with oil paints.

you make it sound like it was easy but I get the feeling it wasn't so much.
lovely work, looks like it's straight out of the movie.
Cheers. Really it's just experimentation and trial and error until you come up with something that looks ok.
Finally finished my Battlestar Galactica Cylon Raider model. 1/32 scale so it's about the size of a platter.
Acrylics with pastels for weathering.
I'm pretty happy with it but feel it lacks contrast, however I don't usually like heavy weathering or carbon burning unless necessary... :o
I can take and encourage constructive crits.

Very nice! The black masking looks very clean. For contrast adding a wash into all the greeblies would help to show up all that detail. Just don't do it on a matt finish and I'd also drill out the gun barrels as well.
Anyone know anything about hseng brand airbrush/compressor? I've looked around for reviews or comparisons to iwata but to no avail. LHS has 1/6 hp with 3L tank l, regulator and an airbrush with 0.2, 0.3 and 0.5 as a kit. Had previously been looking at a cheap kit on ebay that's voltair brand, cheap about $120 for 1/6 hp tank, regulator, airbrush (basically the same but just 0.3) for $123 shipped... and if the airbrush didnt tirn out well just buy an iwata one for about $100. But if hseng are ok it'd save time/money/mucking about.
Edit - joined another forum to reaf some real reviews, hseng is referred to as knock off it seems, things like bent needles out of the box, almost non-existant spare parts service... if i could just find a cheapish compressor local i'd be happy, but they all seem to be 'kits'
Any small compressor will work. One with a tank will prevent pulsing airflow and pick up a moisture trap. I use 2, one connected to the compressor and a pistol grip type attached to the airbrush.
Finished a few things and have a lot of stuff in progress. These Bandai kits are fantastic. C3PO was plated so he was the easiest of the lot. I replaced the moulded wires with real ones.

Speeder bike is finished though I need to find some fabric for the roll at the back and add some Endor terrain to the base. Also the acrylic rod is wobbly so that will be replaced with a metal one.

Tie just needs some detailing and some panel line wash.

Ep7 Stormtrooper needs black/white hands and weapons to do. Whomever thought that multi-coloured parts were a good idea needs to be fired. BB8 is a gem of a kit. If you lose the instructions it can still be assembled if you treat it like a puzzle. Both X-wings are nice but need some hacking up if you want the hull separation in the middle.

Of course I had to have a couple of Lambos on the go. The Veneno is causing me headaches all the way. I'll be glad to see the end of that but the Aoshima 50th Anniversario Aventador is just brilliant. Colour is giallo maggio.

nice work as always bro.... love the carbon fiber look on the lambo
why have you stepped the upper airfoil on your x-wing there? is that something from the new movie I missed?
They're not clipped together properly. The new X-wing foils are like scissors split fore and aft rather than upper and lower.
Nice work Gamblor.
I have most of those kits now including the 1/48 X-Wing. Just need to find the time, and skills. :o
cool! i used to build models when i was young but i never worked up to painting them. i just sent a bunch of old star wars ones to Kup so hopefully he can get something out of them :)
Does anyone paint warhammer/warhammer 40k stuff?
EP7 Stormtrooper done. The rifle I'll leave for the next one.

BB-8 almost done, just missing antennae as I'm trying to source a metal replacement. Orange is auto paint Mclaren orange.

Finshed BB-8 and another stormtrooper. The shoulder pauldron is cast from the sandtrooper kit.

A bit more progress on my other kits. I may have overdone the paint chipping a tad.

excellent work mate. the edges on your paint is so clean.
Not convinced you went overboard on the paint chipping either. I think it looks great.
Tiny bits of tape, masking fluid and touch ups with brush and toothpick. I have Phasma's rifle to look forward to do as well.
Here's a new way of doing weathering I've discovered using Bandai marker pens. I've used black, grey and brown. The top one is the blending pen, basically thinner in pen format.
http://i328.photobucket.com/albums/l...psgpnjczwy.jpg
Run the marker pens over all the panel lines and shadow areas. Then use the blending pen to fade and blend everything together. Since it uses thinner (not sure what kind but smells like ipa) it may go through to the base paint so be careful not to use too much.

With a bit of airbrush shading and blending to finish it off.

Thanks! Looks like you're getting some good results with that method.
looking great bro
amazing stuff! :D
That looks awesome!
Cheers all. I've found that it's a relatively easy way to add weathering. If you let it dry you can go over with the blending pen again if you don't like the initial result.
Here's the Aoshima Aventador 50th Anniversario in Gravity Colors giallo maggio.

Except for my personal hate of supercars being yellow ( I can't explain it, I just hate it) it's beautiful .
Thanks. It's a lambo so it has to be outrageous. I'm thinking baby blue for the next one.
Thanks. I already have an orange one. I'm thinking this 50th roadster will be my next project.
http://i328.photobucket.com/albums/l...pst7ydzznv.jpg
I love the baby blue. Love it.
The colour is Ricebox viola ophelia. I can give you what I have left over, around half a bottle. It's lacquer paint and a bit thick so you'll need Mr Color thinners for it.
I've only made 1 gundam model that turned out quite nice I thought but I'm not going to build any more. I have enough cars, bikes, aircraft and sci-fi kits as it is :o
Bandai 1/72 X-wing finished. Perfect fit and excellent detail. Just a great little kit.

More Aoshima lambos. This time the Sesto Elemento and combining the Aventador roadster and 50th kits to make a 50th roadster.
For the Sesto interior tub I primed with black then using a little bit of sponge I dabbed on two shades of grey in a kind of random pattern. Everything was blended together with smoke and finished off with semi-gloss clear.

Slowly working through my backlog of Bandai SW kits, this one was surprising easy with minimal parts, but the end result is still the same high standard you would expect from Bandai. Only needs a little bit of chrome silver & black paint on the helmet, finish off with some gunmetal paint for the light saber
The entire robe being a soft flexible rubber is a nice touch
