Given the GST will require foreign sellers to voluntarily register for GST but given there's really no one to enforce it..
I can see the big players like amazon or other major chains overseas that wants a bigger local presence in AU to comply..
But how many hobby stores overseas would bother i wonder
"He comes with Full-Tilt in his vehicle form, a Headmaster, a catapult, and an additional weapon"
Is that new info specific to the Takara release?
Translation of the Katakana points towards "aircraft catapult", which makes me think it's related to a Full Tilt launch gimmick.
Can't say I like spending more than $200+ on a single toy but luckily I got one off pc for $95 so that made the sting less painful.
Are the pictures the official takara release? still look like Hasbro ones, the lack of paint on the titan master makes me wonder.
Pictures are likely placeholder since takmall list hasn't put up any official pics yet
they simply have the placeholder http://dmwysfovhyfx3.cloudfront.net/img/sys/sorry5.jpg pic on the listing at this time
Hmmm...order placed on 24 Feb and hadn't received shipping notice. Emailed them and they said they are trying to find an alternate supply because Takara didn't supply enough stock of Grapple. So I guess I'll keep looking elsewhere in the meantime.
But what's great is they give same day replies and I can cancel the order anytime. So no skin off my nose.
Was in the same boat - waiting for stock in HLJ
Cancelled my order today with them as i found it at amazon.jp - it's advertised at 10748yen but when you go through check out - the price dropped to 9952yen (assuming it was tax deducted for oversea customers??)
All in all i paid AUD136 for it shipped to me so that's a good deal. You should consider it!
According to the email I just got from HLP MP Megs will be in around the 3rd of April.
They will also for US and Australian customers be opening the box, popping a (removable) orange plug in so as the toy complies with Australian laws and should be happily let through customs!
Friggin awesome!
Here is the webpage, with the special note about the product. (almost verbatim to BTT's email from HLJ, which was posted in another thread)
Transformers Masterpiece MP-36 Megatron Orange-Capped for USA
Quote:
Special note about this product
HobbyLink Japan will be inserting a plastic orange plug into the end of this item's barrel in order to keep this toy in compliance with Title 15, Chapter 76 of the United States Code.
Installing this cap on the item will require our staff to open the packaging, which will require cutting the tape holding the box flap closed. This will be performed with the utmost care, but of course it will prevent us from delivering this product to U.S. customers in "unopened" condition. Note that without this modification, your purchase could be confiscated by the U.S. Customs Service and/or you could be charged with a crime under the above U.S. Federal Law.
HobbyLink Japan understands and appreciates the desires of U.S.-based toy collectors related to merchandise of this nature, and we feel this is the best solution to meet those needs under the circumstances. In order to maintain your item's compliance with U.S. laws, we recommend that you do not remove the plastic cap after you have received the item.
The mighty Decepticon leader Megatron is fully posable, transformable between his two forms, and he comes with three facial expressions (grim, a mocking smile, and a shout). He also has the scope, silencer and stock, an interchangeable damaged chest part, a blaster, energy mace, articulated chain, laser dagger, the Vector sigma key, and his headgear. He stands about 30cm tall. Don't miss out on this ultimate Megatron collectible figure!
Looks like I'll be going elsewhere at the 11th hour. :(
So, the email notes Australia and America, but the webpage only notes America.
I just don't know why they are altering the Australian ones, when they are only adhering to US Federal law. An orange cap shouldn't change its status in Australia, and I think it will still be seized, but now it will be an opened toy that is seized instead of a mint one.
My VIC copper mate is going to look into it more thoroughly tomorrow but at this stage reckons it wouldn't be a problem as the law was clarified more to separate 'toy guns' and 'real guns' in their classifications and subsequent bannings as long as it was 'obviously a toy' which, considering Megs will be in robot mode, this is
New legends listings are up!
The problem isn't local state police, but rather federal customs which seized all of the last MP Megatron, which WAS shipped in robot mode and even when transformed would be comically oversized in gun mode. Local police were awesome, and helped me fill out a license application. They thought customs were overreacting too.
Mine was seized and even with a non-firing replica weapons license, customs only released mine on the day on which they were required to present it before a magistrate. If you can buy it from a local dealer that has gotten/finessed it through customs, you bypass all he hassle.
LG47, LG48, LG49 have just gone up on HLJ for those interested :)

MPM-03 Movie 10th Anniversary Bumblebee (Transformers: The Last Knight)
Couldn't see Optimus listed yet.
WTH?
In just a few hours, the MPM-03 and all of the July/August Movie toys that aren't 1-steps, are already Order Stop (pre-sold out).
I know I ranted about this before, but.... what is with HLJ lately?
Their allocation of Transformers from TakaraTomy seems to be really small now, and if TakaraTomy aren't allowing for increases in orders anymore, HLJ should have a better idea by now how much Transformers stock they need, as they know how quickly their Transformers items have been selling out in the last year.
I never used to miss out on anything on HLJ, but this year I've now missed two items that were sold out in just hours, and will have to source them from somewhere else.
Same with Amiami, everything is pretty much sold out.
I'm amazed that anyone is frustrated at not being able to p/o a Bumblebee figure :p :o
The Little Toy Company are still taking pre-orders. They require payment upfront however.
And out of stock again.
Hopefully it will be the same as the Hasbro release, as I would get that one instead.
TLK-15 Calibur Optimus is back in stock again, along with a couple of the newer Movie pre-orders (some are already out of stock again)
Latest Legends and MP preorders are up.
MP39 Sunstreaker
MP12+ Lambor
LG50 Sixshot
LG51 Doublecross
LG52 Misfire
LG53 Broadside
I'm sure others would have received the same email alsoQuote:

I see that MP Optimus Primal is in stock... so they were being way too cautious by locking out pre-orders after one day and never had it up for pre-order once after that.
The second wave of bitfigs are in stock too.
The site has also had a minor upgrade, that allows you to select the currency of all listed prices... which I don't like, as I preferred to hover the mouse over the yen price to reveal 5 or 6 major currencies, but leaves the yen price as I'm more familiar with it from other purchases from there (and the converted amount won't be accurate anyway, as the exchange rate will be different when the toy is released several months later).
MP10B Black Convoy reissue is available for preorder. ETA Dec 17.

Preorders for the Next wave of legends are up
Slugslinger, Octane, Percy and Bee.
Also the licensed diecast vehicles by Jada are there as well, for anyone wanting them but can't get them easily from America.
They are probably exactly the same as the American release, but would be in different packaging (the listings note that they are being released by TakaraTomy, so they must be releasing the licensed vehicles, under license from Jada :p )
