Lol... yeah true that.
When I first saw it, I was like WTF?
I guess that's why this guy fits into the Unicorn series - slightly different kind of horn though. :p

I actually quite adore the MG Rezel. It's a tall mecha with an awesome waverider mode. Looking to pick up the Commander version eventually when finances soften. Excellent pics VP.
Its getting there...
http://img39.imageshack.us/img39/547/img1935u.jpg
Thanks mate.
Tbh, I only picked up Re-ZEL because it was cheap and on sale at HLJ - not really a fan of the design of it (a bit tall and lanky looking for my own tastes).
Seems like you're taking an eternity on this mate - looking good though.
I've just started on my first custom (painted, etc) - MG Zaku II for a group build comp over on the Gundam Australia forum.
Deadline is end of Jan, so it should be interesting to see if I can finish it (and not monumentally stuff it up) in time. :o
Well it's fast for me :DQuote:

Just need to do the torso, head and little bits and pieces.
Can't see your pics for the MG Zaku II?
I haven't posted any yet.
The only pics I attached to that thread I linked to (which non-registered members can't see) are pics of the unbuilt kit - the time and date stamp on the pic is evidence that you haven't started the build before it was supposed to commence.
I'll put up some WIP pics when I have some, but I only commenced yesterday - just building the internal frame at the moment, so no real 'progress' yet. ;)
Now that is looking mighty fine! Can't wait for the final product. Sadly, I don't have the skills or the patience to paint my kits. Keep on posting WIP pics.
Tonight I thought I'd chip away at my pile of shame. Since it's been a while since I've made a kit, thought I'd ease myself in with these 3. My pics are terrible but you get the idea...
HG Genoace Custom (from Gundam AGE):

HG Byaku Shiki (repaint of Hyaku Shiki, from Gunpla Builders Beggining G):

LBX Inbit (not Gundam but a Bandai kit, from Danball Senki):

Plus a group shot with the sugary sustenance of 40% Chocolate Cookies:
http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/k...NCookies01.jpg
Up next I might do MG Sandrock or HG Kshatriya (plus SD Kshatriya).
That's one big cookie!!!
Awesome way to ease yourself back into building Gunpla mate... a couple of HGs without too many dark colours so you don't have to concentrate too hard on nub removal to warm up first, aye? :p
That redecoed Hyaku Shiki is surprisingly good looking in the plain white - I like the look of the mech, but haven't been a fan of the chrome gold or bright yellow versions that he comes in on the MGs.
I seem to recall seeing a flat gold MG version somewhere but for the life of me can't seem to track one down to buy (may have been a custom or ltd ed event only release). :o
So next.... MG Sandrock or HG Kshatriya???
Me likes the big a$$ (for a 1/144) HG Kshatriya and am envious of you having it since I'm looking at getting one too :p (if they don't release an MG version soon).
Seeing as you're easing yourself back into Gunpla building, I would recommend probably the MG Sandrock as next to be built over the HG Kshatriya.
Sandrock is just not as repetitious or fiddly to build as Kshatriya even though it's an MG (since I've built one and he's awesome like most of the EW ones) and would be the next progressive step into easing yourself back into the building game.
Besides all those damn Katoki markings (which I know you love ;)), Sandrock is pretty fiddly and repetition free as he doesn't have all the same repeated parts like Kshatriya does (4 x binders w/ associated extending arms and 24 x fiddly funnels  )
Actually, scrap what I said, you sat and built a PG 00 Raiser in one sitting, so you're a sucker for punishment and will suffer for your art and for the love of the build, so you might as well jump in the deep end - Kshatriya FTW! :D
It's just a container. Nothing beats the Coles/Kmart brand choc chip cookies!
Busted. 100% correct. Although I still had to work the nubs for the grey and coloured parts. Easing in complete though.Quote:

Hmm. The bright yellow version is awful. Not a fan of that colour used. Hyaku Shiki unfortunately can only be shiny gold. If you want a Hyaku Shiki that isn't gold, try MG Delta Plus. It's pretty much the same design but transformable. :)Quote:

Can you give me a link of it from dalong?Quote:

I think I will go for something totally different and build MG Delta Plus. I forgot I had that. Then again, Kshatriya... It's a thing of beauty.Quote:

Speaking of huge @$$ mechs, seen the HG Psycho Gundam? WOW! I've been meaning to pick one up, but always skipped it in favour of an MG. It's 40 cm tall!!!!
I do likewise too ;) Normally after building something that's given me the sh!ts with nub removal (special coating or darker coloured kits), I tend to build lighter coloured ones so that I don't have to concentrate as much.
It's the HD version: http://dalong.net/review/mg/m37s/m37s_p.htm
I'm not a fan of the boxy look of this guy or the colours - he looks kinda lame IMO... easy pass for moi.
Here's some WIP pics of my first custom - inner frame assembled and painted:
http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7008/6...79f5ac47_b.jpg
http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7149/6...bb0eb909_b.jpg
Paint looks pretty good so far. A black wash would bring out some detail in the legs.
I just stumbled across this site
This guy is seriously good
Yeah definitely mate, but to be honest, painting's not really my thing - just doing the inner frame has already pi$$ed me off monumentally!
Not even sure if I'll continue painting the exterior, might just slap it all together and maybe do some panel lining and stick the decals on and call it quits.
Yeah I've seen his builds - the amazing thing is that the majority of those are the smaller 1/144 high grade kits
The inner frame by itself looks gorgeous. Maybe just leave it like that.
Got some more kits today...

From top left down:
- LBX 014 - Lucifer
- HG Beggining J
- HG Beggining D
Oh and that little thing on the right is just MG Full Armor Unicorn. Nothing special. ;)
I've pretty much given up on painting the Zaku - have highlighted some areas with a worn metallic look, added panel lining (using a Sharpie and Zippo lighter fluid) and will add some decals and call it quits.
Painting's definitely not for me - panel lining (using the above technique) though, is something that I think I'll be doing a lot of from here on out since it's quite easy to make them look right and achieve perfect lines. :)
Congrats on the FA Unicorn - maybe just build the weapons and attachments and put them on the existing Unicorn you have?
Personally I think the red colour highlights on the previous release looks better than the green.
Let me know if you end up doing this and want to hock off your unbuilt MG Unicorn from this kit, I'll gladly take it off your hands since the weapons and attachments don't interest me, but I'm liking the idea of (getting someone to) custom paint up a Unicorn in Titans colours. :D
VP: You know they have already made your wish come true. It's in HG form at the moment but a MG is inevitable. I present to you, Unicorn II - Banshee:
http://www.dalong.net/review/hg/h134/h134_p.htm
:)
Oh wow! Awesome - bring on an MG version! :)
After panel lining (using a Sharpie and Zippo lighter fluid), painting it and randomly applying decals (from other Gundam kits) to create the appearance of markings, I think I've finished.
It's my first panel lined and painted kit, so I know it's fairly rough and there's plenty of areas for improvement, but I'm fairly happy with the finished product.
It was made up for a group build contest with the theme being 'Ground War Grunts' - hence the dirty and militaristic look of it.

@Vector Prime: I know didly squat about Gundams VP, beyond Voltron being my favourite :p, but that is an excellent 1st time custom _of anything_ that I've seen; well done mate! ;)
Weathering looks good on this guy, it looks like there's a bit of texture on the surface.
Here's some more pics (as required by the rules of the Group Build)

Next releases announced today:

Yeah it was pretty inevitable for a MG Banshee. It's the exact same mold with just a different "V-fin" and the arm mounted weapons. Looks like I'll have to get a 4th version of the mold. X|
MG Buster, Blitz & Aegis... I'm in for all 3, especially for Aegis as I love it's "alt mode" claw ship thing. Buster & Blitz are just awesome and elegantly simple & clean design.
Also, don't forget Real Grade Mk.II! Titan's repaint is a given. :)
@Stompy - more stuff to add to the ever growing backlog, aye? ;)
Have you whittled down the backlog yet (build anything lately)?
As for me, followed up my custom with yet more MG Zaku v2.0 love... this time, MS-06S Char's Zaku II - just a straight build with panel lining and decals:

Yeah the backlog is HUGE! Although I started MG Delta Plus tonight and am 85% done. Just gotta do the wings and weapons. Will post some pics when done.
Your panel lining is looking sharp. I should look into that but it's extra time I just don't have. Zaku's are plain classics. Now that you are applying ALL decals, your finished kits just shine even more combined with your photographing skills!
Thanks mate.
Panel lining actually doesn't take that long to do TBH - just gotta get the technique down pat and it's actually quite quick.
I use a 0.4mm Extra Fine Sharpie and then just use cotton buds dipped in Zippo lighter fluid to clean off the excess ink.
Apply more lighter fluid and rub harder if you want the lines to be lighter or you can just leave them dark.
Give it a crack mate. :)
I just might give panel lining a crack with the method you mentioned. I panel lined ages ago straight up with a gundam marker and it didn't look good at all as I wasn't erasing excess marks. Thick panel lines are ugly. I shall experiment with some HG's.
For now I finished MG Delta Plus! Also included is HG Delta Plus in waverider mode:
Excuse the junky pics. They are from my phone under light bulb light in the evening. -_-
http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/k...GDeltaPlus.jpg
http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/k...aPlusclose.jpg
http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/k...eridermode.jpg
Considering how big the HG version is in waverider mode next to the MG, I can only imagine how big the MG version would be. Unfortunately the MG transformation involves a little lego forming. Although not to the same extent as the HG version which was a total lego former with cheating parts added and robot parts removed.
Next up... Hmmm... MG Sandrock and the two Beggining Gundams (D & J)
Delta Plus looks good mate - just not a big fan of his colour scheme (a bit too bland for my liking, like Unicorn).
I've noticed that you're happy to put on all the little marking decals - panel lining with the technique I suggested takes less time than applying all them ;)
As for me, I finished this guy this evening after commencing it last night - MG MS-07B Gouf v2.0
http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7005/6...09476a50_b.jpg
Just a straight up build with panel lining, very minor highlights and decal application.
Yep I'm a decaholic.
Loving your Zeon Signature pic. Updated as well. I do adore The Gouf and your look sharp as always. Maybe time to get the other Char custom Zeon mechs - Gelgoog, Z'gok, the other suits probably won't interest you.
Also, just read taht there will be TWO MG Banshee's. One ver.Ka and the other the OVA version. Version Ka will have a blue inner core while the OVA will be orange/gold. While I don't want to get both, it's always nice to display them in each mode together. DAMN you Bandai.
I'm slowly warming to the joys of being a decalholic :p
Gonna get me some Mr Mark Softer and then start practicing on applying the waterslides ones - might end up going nuts and doing a version Ka of something then. :D
Gelgoog doesn't appeal to me since it's quite ugly - Z'Gok I have in my backlog and will eventually get around to building, but I have another 5 Zaku's to work through first.
Despite how many of them I've built, I definitely have a soft spot for the v2.0 frame and it's by far my favourite MG kit, hence the reason why I don't get bored building so many of them.
Might tackle MG PMX-003 THE-O next as a custom with custom paint since I dislike the baby poo colour he comes in (after I build the 7/11 BearGuy for the gf that I promised her).
As for Banshee, I think the one with the orange/gold inner frame will be sufficient for me, unless the build turns out to be extraordinarily enjoyable. :)
Love the pics stompy! Need to get off my butt and start making mine.
Cheers Raptor! But the nice looking ones are by VP. Give him most of the credit. Mine are the ugly, grainy, out of focus ones. ;)
VP. Decals are awesome. I do enjoy the dry decals. I have tried the water decals but I think I need something to put over it as the decals can come off if touched. Is that the Mark Softer you are referring to?
Here's the two releases of MG Banshee:
The OVA version with the funnel and claw weapon and gold/orange inner core:

And here's the ver.Ka with standard weapons and blue inner core:

Yes. I will get them both. :/
You forgot to mention. The exclusive MG Banshee will light up!
I hopefully can get him.

I rather like this blue inner frame A LOT better then the orange one. :D
VGM out...
