Finally paid for mine today and look forward to its arrival (but not trying to figure out where to store)
Mine came yesterday :D It's amazing how some plastic and diecast can make you so happy.
I already had a spot on my cabinet set aside to display it
The early pics did seem like it had a window, but I don't think that was ever the case :(
I was also surprised that the box wasn't wrapped in plastic as per normal RK standards. It was just packed in the shipping box with a layer of foam.
Excellent!!! :D
Glad to see that they've finally arrived dude, as I know exactly what you mean when you say that 'a little bit of plastic and die-cast' can make you so happy. ;):D
Ah!
Clever, I never thought to look on Youtube. :p
Cheers for pointing it out though dude, as it was a little frustrating that he would always fall over. :o
Yeah, same here.
I'm very surprised that RK didn't have bubblewrap wrapped around the box, but then I guess I suspected that AmiAmi would have the foam like RK but meh, I guess I'm just glad that they arrived safe and sound. :)
Glad to see I wasn't the only one here. At first I tried opeing up the flap with the hand thinking the middle would just slide out. Apparently not.
At least the contents were awesome, after all that's what we get them for!
:D
Isn't it?
:o
Agreed! I can't believe i was ever thinking of passing on him.
Really glad they went with the diecast version too, it just feels so solid and the clicking of joints is pure quality.
I can't imagine how much a kid would have freaked out getting this for christmas originally, it's just utterly epic!
Man, i KNEW it would be that video! In actual fact, both myself and (forcibly) my wife were doing that last night to Predaking's box as a joke! Hilarious, and timeless :)
Wouldn't have happened here much considering that none of the G1 gestalt gift sets were ever sold in Australia. But even playing with the Predacons individually was pretty awesome as a kid - the only set of big boxed Transformers that could combine. But as awesome as that was, it was also its drawback as it was also the most expensive set to complete. Having a complete Devastator, Defensor, Menasor etc. wasn't uncommon during G1, but growing up I don't think I knew anyone who had the entire set. Maybe one kid... he had a pretty huge collection, although he sold it all in 1988 (I bought his complete Gnaw w/ box for $5!).
Just opeing and playing with mine now. pretty good articulation for a gestalt! Slight elbows, and wrist movement is the exception, not the rule for ye olde G1 combiners. Hefty!
Contemplating whether or not to give them all red-eye. The only one I think really needs it is Razorclaw due to yellow eyes and mane.
Anybody stickered the red eyes? If so, could you post a pic please?
Cheers
I only red-eyed my Razerclaw and it looks immeasurably better. I'll post a pic later if someone doesn't before me!
I had the entire set as a kid. Heh. But i only got them near the end of '88 when they were all on offer for $6.90 each (retail was $29.90). If they were not on sale, no way I'd gotten the whole set and in takara boxes to boot.
I like red eyes....
I can tell you exactly what it was like to get these as a kid..... it was so horrible i CRIED!!!!!
No idea what year exactly it was, but for my January Birthday i got 1 from Dad, 1 from Mum, 1 from Brother, 1 from Grandma.... and then there was no more family.... but there was 5 on the box.... and then it was the Yellow Leg that was missing..... OH NO *Sniff sniff WATERWORKS!!!!*
Good thing my parents weren't stupid.... "Oh, there was this one as well, but we didn't know if you'd want it as well" and out it came from the wardrobe...
Even more surprising is the fact we lived 300kms in the country, and the only things i ever saw in stores were 2 of 3 insecticons in Coles
Like others, I've only Red Eye Stickered their Bot mode eyes and Razorclaw's Alt mode eyes.
Here is a quick photo dude, I'll try and get a better set of pics tomorrow:

Not to steal your thunder Hursticon, but here's my quick take :)

droool, not long now I hope, damn AUSpost
So this reissue is all plastic? or with Die cast parts... sorry couldnt be blothered backtracking if this was mentioned.....:o
Wow, Razorclaw looks much better with new eyes. Will have to do mine now.
Thanks guys
Predaking is beautiful, but dare I take him out of the box? The box is a work of art, even with a handle to carry the case. I know we've seen enough Combaticon repaints to see a lifetime, but I'd love it if all future combiners were released like this, and we saw a Comabticons/Piranacons reissue.
Stickered up all my predacons..gosh he looks so sweet now!
Looks like I will do the red eyes too, the pics look good guys!
I totally don't get the box thing. I've spent half the afternoon throwing out superfluous Transformer boxes - they just take up space. And this one doesn't even have a window. Unless it's opened, it's basically a $200 box. Which is expensive. For a box.
A Predacon freed is is an essential deed! ;)
you couldve sold those boxes;), Im sure someone here is looking for a box of something:D:D. I dont , I like em free.... the game room is their home:) although I do have some I have still kept in their box and am contemplating on if I should take out ...... Ehobby Deep cover I bought from you;)
I can understand why someone wouldn't get it but for me it's about the complete package. The best way I can explain it is that the toy and the box compliment each other because they both tell a story for the era that they were released in. For example, G1 box art is just as nostalgic for me as the toys they came packaged in. Some would argue "why don't you just open it and keep the box", however I consider them to be 'time capsules' in a way.
I hope I've made a little sense in my explanation. Of course everyone is different when it comes to their collecting habits and that's what makes it so great - every collection is individualised and personal.
But this is what is annoying me. All of what I have to display is out of the box. But for some reason...I felt the need to wanna keep this Predaking tucked away inside. I have no idea why...
I made the decision to open him today when I got home from work. Then I read this brief discussion. Now I'm confused again. *sigh*
Agree its a personal thing. If you want to open it, then you should go with you inclination and open it. Way I see it, its a reissue and I have no problems with opening reissues.
(5FDP, the only reason my 2004 reissue Predaking is still sealed is because I have the vintage Takara ones open and didn't need to open the 2004 ones... heh... but now it's become a 'vintage' in itself... and it gets confusing...) :D
I'ma kill someone if the 2010 releases become vintage after I've opened them :p
Well, I've placed my order. Just waiting for it to be shipped!
