Does G1 Prime have any date stampings on the cab?
Not as far as I can recall. It's pretty much just under the trailer (although I don't have my G1 Prime in front of me atm)
I just dug out my G1 OP and there were no date stamps on the cab, just the Hasbro and Takara stamp underneath the trailer.
Although the 25th Anniversary reissue G1 has numbers stamped on the inside of the panel on his upper arm.
Cheers guys, thats what I thought. Just wondered if it was hidden somewhere like the Stunticons have it in all sorts of nooks and crannies.
Even Anglophone G1 is worth watching. Despite its campiness, overall it's a fairly decent series. Season 1 was the principally "Earth based" series, Season 2 added in more characters (mostly at random as if they'd always been there :p) and delved more into 'world building' (e.g. Vector Sigma, War Dawn etc.) and there were a few off world adventures, but it was still mostly Earth based. Season 3 followed the movie and was set in the distant future of 2006-10 and distinctly took the series in a more scifi direction. Season 4 would have continued from this, but due to Hasbro axing the series, it was essentially butchered into a toy advert; but the story itself has decent underlying merit, even if the execution wasn't well done. Whereas The Headmasters was a much better execution of less exciting idea; but overall I do prefer The Headmasters.
IMHO the G1 Marvel Comics are the greatest source of G1 stories (especially the UK issues, although they are meant to be read in tandem w/ the US stories); and many of the old stories have been reprinted by Titan Books and IDW. :) The comics are also the sole source of G2 canon, since the G2 cartoon was nothing more than a poor rehash of the G1 cartoon.
Beast Wars gives Transformers a unique and fresh perspective, but also continues on from the G1 continuity family and retroactively enhances G1/G2. Beast Wars would absolutely be the best screen story ever written for Transformers IMHO. :D
