Massive Thanks to STL for hunting down the Spongebob Lego for my gf.
Once she gets a spare few hours (shes a slow builder) I'll post some pics.
Thanks again STL!
Some good prices for Lego in 1 day auctions ending tonight (via STL)
This guy is local to me too, so if anyone far away wants any of this, I can help pick it up.
Progress so far on my recently acquired 7676: Republic Attack Gunship.

I've put in roughly three to four hours in this baby so far.
What you see here is the completion of instruction book one.
Tough start mind you with all those bags, rummaging through them all looking for that right piece but it's great fun like all Lego builds are.
Get yourself one if you don't have it already! Big W sells them at $162, cheaper then RRP. I picked up the second last one at the city QV store.
This auction is at $139 so far and ends bright 'n' early in the morning. Allows pickup in Melbourne too.
It's a nice ship.... i just cant decide which stickers to use.....
and only one i saw in the movie was the twil'eck girl..... but i prefer the other one in person
I was thinking of one each side..... but can't decide which is to be which
I think I might have a dip at one of these... :o I lost my bid for a Botcon 2006 set and now have extra cash to splurge once my cash rolls in tmrw! :D
Mmm. So cheap on those lego's. Especially interested in the Creator Cargo Ship. Pity I don't have an ebay account... Yes. I have never ebayed.
Kyle, your Exo pics without the decals make them look like prototypes. I see why they decided to have decals. Not gonna put them on?
Stompy, why not just sign up? No time like the present. This is a great first transaction as it'll be a local Melbourne pickup.
I'm with you, Kyle on not puttiing them on. I'm only putting them on ones that are my favourites which to date are Aero Booster and Golden Guardian. I like to be able to reuse the pieces later on as part of other things I want to build.
Kyle, those Exo-Force units are great. I'm so jealous of your Supernova!!! I'm trying to get one but short of paying $70 for one, I don't have many options :(
Got my Supernova from eBay last year. I noticed the first series of Exo-Force back in 2006. However they didn't really appeal to me back then. Then last year I spotted Aero Booster in Target. Its design was very good and around $40 I just had to buy it. After that I saw Golden Guardian in TRU... and ended up buying the rest of the 2007 sets (only the human side robots though). And I was tempted to complete the 2006 human side as well after getting Bridge Walker vs White Lightning from TRU. At the time the earlier 2006 sets were already very tough to find in Perth, so I had to grab the rest from eBay. :o
Hey, I need to understand Bricklink a bit better. As I understand it, it's a bit like eBay for lego. They have the benefit of having one reference database, so you don't have to worry about discrepancies between how different sellers sell the same item (awesome idea). So, you can put together a shopping cart, but can you only buy from one vendor at a time? When/where do you see shipping charges? Who can give me a bit more of the skinny?
Umm from memory you may have to ask the seller for postage but from experience it has always been hell cheap.
Bricklink is simply a network of e-stores where every lego brick in existence has been catalogued into one gigantic database so its easy to find the parts you want. All the sellers are forced to put a unit price on each brick so it's easy to find the best price.
Shipping (and lego prices) will vary from store to store and most stores have a 'minimum value' for purchases which is usually $10. The trick is finding a single store with everything (or enough of) you want for a decent price so you don't don't have to shop at multiple stores and pay multiple shipping.
Some stores will give you a good idea of what to expect to pay for shipping on their 'shipping/postage information' page or even their home page. However the best way to get a shipping estimate is to place an order and wait for the invoice or simply shoot the seller an email.
Bricklink is great when you're after a particular brick or stumble across a pretty good store however in general you can get far more value for money buying in bulk from ebay.
I find with bricklink, if you have the patience, you can obtain all the pieces for a full set at a cost less than the actual set. However, you have do alot of searching between stores for parts but for me thats okay, since I enjoy the whole experience. From experience, I find the Euro-based sellers more reliable as the 2 US sellers I've gotten pieces from, their pieces weren't as high quality - one even had chew marks not listed in the description! (it should be noted the seller has since resent replacement pieces out). You will find it much easier to use bricklink if you learn what particular pieces are. Like if its a brick, plate, wedge, tile etc.... makes searching significantly easier. Use the reference option to look at particular sets and then see what category they are cataloged under. I have found bricklink to be the best place to do all my lego shopping. :)
Was that a European seller?
And yes :o, I've already been looking at that site. Started about 3 nights ago and I'm very addicted to searching those stores.
Here's a question, how do you guys store Lego parts? Like when you disassemble them and then put the parts away for other projects/ideas? Do you just use one giant tub? Or do u put them in separate compartelmentalised tubs? I'm looking at a range of storage options atm for parts as the majority of my sets will get taken apart so any advice is welcomed :)
Ziplock bags with the set number written on them with a sharpie, then store those in a big tub. If it's a large set, I tend to seperate based on brick types, such as "special" (transparent, printed, smooth tiled, other small bits), and then "the rest" in another bag.
If I use multiple bags, aside from the set number, I also put say, 1/3, 2/3, 3/3 on them too so I know how many bags there should be.
Same as instructions, put them in a large ziplock together too so they stay nice and flat and don't get that "weathered chewed up" look that some papers tend to get.
Ziplock bags for sets and in their box if I have it.
For loose parts....

Manticore tank combines form and function
(Looks sort of like Cybertron Defence Scattorshot)
I saw that. Looks frickin' awesome. I wish Lego made some war sets. I can only imagine how much more popular lego would be b/c people who could build war armies and war scenes would be all over that type of lego.
K-Mart will be having another % off Lego sale but it's unclear how much it'll be. The range is between 15% and 25% but going on the recent sales I'd say its about 20%. If it is 25% though, my hand may be pushed in putting aside my TF spending money for some stuff.
There are few items listed as being on sale but there's no uniform discount across the board for those so we can't discern from them how much:
7675 SW AT-TE Walker $115; save $29
7676 SW Republic Gunship $143; save $26
Lego Mistika Bioncles Assorted $15; save $5
I'm very very tempted to snap up the Republic Gunship. I almost grabbed it and the Magna Guard yesterday at Myers believing there was a 30% off sale but to my shock the lady told me the 30% off was on everything EXCEPT Lego. %*$#!!! I was seriously pissed off. I may give in at this sale. Seeing the Clone Wars movie made me really want some of these ships. They do look very nice and while the movie wasn't great, i got what I liked out of SWs (the machines and fight scenes).
Anyone know if the 7673 Magna Guard is available at K-Mart? I've only seen it at Myers and Target so it doesn't look like it'll go anywhere else. I'll certainly be on the look out.
Unfortunately when the sale starts this Thursday, I have a CFOs lunch at midday so I won't be out shopping till late... well that or wake up early :( :( :(
just read in the target catalogue that they have 20% off star wars lego starting this thurs (21st)
magna droid fighter $63.99 save $16
v-19 torrent $79.99 save $20
at-te walker $119.99 save $30
republic gunship $143.99 save $36
Whoa, I wonder if BigW is far behind... I'd love to price-match. :D
Pirates coming back. heh.
I do have slim hopes for the galaxy police though. Here's hoping for a classics feel and not a chunky, missle firing everywhere, mars mission.
omg I can't wait to see new Pirate sets.
They better have a new private ship, so I can fufil my childhood dream of owning a Lego private ship... :p
The new Space Police better be good. :D

Gallery for the new 2009 Lego sets.
Definitely going to grab myself a pirate ship, I had one back in primary school but like with most people I ended up giving my Lego to my nephew when I got older.
I really want all the yellow construction vehicles!
No farm sets catch my eye and I don't care for the creator or racers line.
EDIT: typo.
