And the stores sees all that garbage as 'Transformers' and then when the movie line is over and it's time to stock better stuff like Generations toys, they refuse it due to all the shelfwarming Transformers junk that may not even be proper toys.

Mark Wahlberg Swears Transformers 4: Age Of Extinction Will Be More Than Meets The Eye! (PerezHilton, 27/12/2013):
Quote:
"It was a tighter script, and its own stand-alone thing. I think the emotional core of it, the human element, is going to be extremely powerful. It’s an ordinary man trying to do extraordinary things to save his daughter and keep her alive—and this boyfriend he didn’t know anything about. He’d had a child when he was in high school and his wife passed away, and the promise he’d made to her was that she wouldn’t date any boys until she graduated and that she’d be at the graduation—because we weren’t due to the pregnancy. So there’s an anchor to it and a realness to it that I like a lot."

"Well, it was exciting because it was the first time my kids were really interested in a movie I was doing. Any time they see me with a gun, like Contraband or Pain & Gain, they want to see that, too, but they can’t because of the language and all that stuff. But I loved working with Michael Bay, and I thought he had a really interesting way to make it new, different, and fresh. Plus, being in movies that have the potential to be hugely successful allows me to make smaller movies that I’m really passionate about."

Yep, I hear you. I'm actually looking forward to the movie, especially with the return of the greatest Decepticon leader that has ever lived and will ever live*, but I really hope that the human element part of the plot (that is, extraneous human filler which is totally unrelated to the main theme, or "realness" as Wahlberg likes to call it) isn't given more than 20 minutes screen time all up. I mean a little bit of that is fine... as long as it doesn't take away from the real story - the Trans(Bay)formers.

Now, I want to see shipping (and no doubt 34) of him and Windblade. This could seriously become a thing. Make it so in 3... 2... 1...
AoE not a reboot according to Di Bonaventura

"Recent script alterations"???
As in, the script (plot/story) has changed AFTER filming was done... probably because Michael Bay had a new idea during post-production?
The thing that was said to pull down his movies in the past is an incoherent plot - by impulsively featuring high-impact shots (visually), and then having to bridge them together mid-project by rewriting the script to match.
This is not a good indicator for TF4... or any movie.
Even if it happens in other movies, or he's putting together a post-credits scene to lead onto TF5, a movie producer or director shouldn't publicly admit to "script changes" this late in production. It suggests that there is a hole in the story that wasn't picked up by the director during filming... or the director made the hole by not following the script.
Reshoots are common, particularly in summer films. Unless it's extensive, I don't think its anything to be (more) concerned about. It can come from an audience not getting a plot point, or a scene being deemed as too slow (and being cut/replaced), or designed to enhance something that already exists to give it more of a punch in that moment of the film.
This doesn't sound anything out of the normal for a film that is in post-production. Now, we might not be knowing the full extent, but based purely on that article, I wouldn't stress about it.
I doubt it would make the story any less coherent.
I noted that, but my point was - you don't hear directors or producers publicly admitting to any script changes that late in production, as it can affect confidence in the film by the consumers, distributors and theatres.
Sure, have some re-workings of the pace or visuals in a scene... but not an actual "script" change months after filming has finished. That suggests something significant was missed or changed during the filming process (even if it isn't true, that's how it reads, so should never have said "script changes", but instead say something less worrying, like "additional set-up visuals").
Script changes happen daily. Some things are only figured out in the editing. Have you heard of colour pages and what they refer to in terms of scripts?
Captain America 2 has just had reshoots. Thor 2 had reshoots.
I don't think we're talking World War Z level reshoots here. That was a big one, and it worked.
We would have heard more if it was more extensive, given just how rabid the fanbase is.
I guess they consider using the industry terms rather than dumbing it down for people not involved in said industry.
In addition, this film is too big to be sunk before release at this point. Opening weekend will be massive, and after that will depend on reviews/repeat theatrical viewers. It will do its massively inflated opening weekend, and probably drop off 40% for weekend 2.
One of the cross-promotion items for TF4 will be Oreo cookies (an American "icon" biscuit that started appearing at our grocery chains when our dollar approached parity - it was cheap enough to import to compete).
So expect to see some significant product placement in TF4... like most movies these days.
After Kraft was sold to Nabisco (in America), and it was cheaper to purchase & import American-made products in the last 10 years, they became a regular item on the store shelves. Before that, they had random sporadic shipments, as I would sometime see them and was amazed at them showing up here (after seeing them everywhere when I was in America... a bit like our TimTams or Shapes being everywhere here), but they were like over-priced luxury items due to the exchange rate, so weren't around much.
Back on topic though, apparently there are some details about what is being filmed this week in China, but it is on a Chinese website, so doesn't seem to load up for me... so some vague details are on the TFW site, claiming that it is to include an extra scene of (CGI) robot fighting.
Well I just got spoilt going to TFW.
TFW has a spoiler about Optimus as it's first headline. <spoiler
No big deal, but it would have been nice not to know there are two Optimus Prime's.
Well that's an interesting little design choice ;)
Wonder how much of that Bay uses in the film
apparently another teaser trailer is coming

Teaser? Crap
Really need to see a proper trailer now that my expectations have been lowered further by the Super Bowl teaser. Wanting to see something that gets my interest
One of the actors has spoken about TF4 "NOT being a kids movie".
Which isn't new. The second and third ones had a lot of violence, and I think DOTM was the one that had trouble getting under an R rating in America.
And this is a new actor to the franchise, and he hasn't even seen the finished product, so unless there was heaps of blood, or heavy coarse language, or a sex scene in the parts he was in, I don't think he would have a clue.
But the funny thing is, if he is actually right... why have so many "under 5" toys if none of that age group would (should) be seeing this movie? (especially if it ends up being as bad as this guy claims)
Where has this guy been for the last 7 years?
If I had a kid (say 4 or 5 years old) I personally wouldn't let them see a PG13/M15 movie until after I had seen it cause there is content in some of those movies a really young kid might be traumatised by. (I am using the word traumatised in a loose manner). I know my cousin who is 7 is a bit traumatised by the violence in the LOTR movies and Ironman was a bit to much for him. Knowing that I advised his parents that DOTM was probably to much for him with so much violence against humans.
I wouldn't take the fact there are kids toys as automatically meaning any movie is appropriate for kids. When I was a kid I had toys from an R18+ movie called Aliens and that is very inappropriate for kids.;)
I'm not letting either of my kids see these movies until they're at least 9 years of age. I'll probably up-that to 10 when they turn 9 :p I haven't let them watch TF:Prime yet either.
Sounds like someone got a spanking over those comments, as a bit of backtracking is now in order... changing his statement to sound more like "not JUST a kids movie", which the earlier ones never were just for kids anyway. (or should be seen by young kids to begin with)
Because, even if it isn't suitable for kids under a certain age, Paramount (and Bay for his commission) don't want parents to know about it until after they've paid for the tickets and started watching it. There might be a rating on the film, but while the theme is a "kids toyline", they are going to want kids and parents to pay money to see it (who won't even notice if it says PG or M).
But if the media publicise comments from any official or related source saying that certain people should not watch it, Bay and Paramount don't even get the chance to get money from people who will blindly assume it is okay for kids (based on the Brand being for kids).
And even if the movie was more kid-friendly than expected, it goes to my earlier comments, that individual actors in any movie will only get to see a glimpse of the total project, like looking through a peephole, or being one person on a long assembly line - you only see a small fraction of the complete picture.
Apparently the first full-length trailer could be out within the week, as it has been given a rating in Canada, which is said to give it a time frame of being in theatres (and online) the following week.
It is listed as being 2m 22s long, and is rated at PG (the trailer, not the movie).
This is likely to be the trailer for America and here, but if not, we should see it online within days of its release to theatres.
A video clip of Peter Cullen recording lines for a Movie toy or merchandise.
None of it should be movie spoilers, as it is random generic phrases that will likely be on one of the electronic toys.
It's interesting for me to listen to that clip (you don't see Cullen though), and be able to visualise both Peter and Optimus speaking.
Really I remember my Mum renting one of the Aliens movies on VHS from the video store for me when I was around 14 or so and it had R18+ on it. All I remember is at the end Sigourney Weaver committed suicide by falling into a vat of something. Thats the one time I watched one of those movies, never seen one again.
I can't remember dates but the classifications on TV were different than the cinema when I was a kid, then at some point they started using the governments rating system for the cinema on TV. Now TV is back too their own thing, replacing MA15+ and R18+ with AV15+ and AV18+.
First two Alien moves are M the other two are MA
Saw Aliens in 86 and I loved it. :D
