The Lego Batman game is alright, that is until you get to play as the villains, then it is freaking awesomesauce!
Really need a 2nd human player though paulbot, the AI is worse than it was in any previous Lego game.
I found on first impressions that Lego Batman is the most refined of the 3 Lego games out. Star Wars Complete saga was great and benefitted from the re-release tweaks and fixes to the "broken" parts of the game. Especially the Pod Racing bit.
Lego Indy was released before it was cooked. It had balancing issues with the difficulty especially how you pretty much die instantly with one projectile shot from an enemy. Don't even ge tme started on levels with a lot of shooting bad guys. Ugh.
Lego Batman is just plain fun. The melee battling is well refined with damage properly scaled and putting projectile attacks in the backseat to let the melee madness shine. Projectiles are slower and more obvious, which makes them easy to spot and dodge. The level design so far is great and the suit pads give the game variety while keeping the easy to pick up and play theme without losing variety. Hopefully this stays true to the end of the game. Can't wait to play as Catwoman.
It's dissapointing though that there's no online co-op for the 360 version of Batman or Indiana Jones. Lego Star Wars Complete Saga had it, so I don't understand why they couldn't implement it on the other two.
No, it's a game, not lego.
Now for a real lego aquisition. My power functions arrived today, so a shot along with the excavator:

Cool MV!
I'm about to finally get cracking into my NXT and am looking at what Technic sets I can use for supplementary pieces for the robots I'll soon be making.
I suppose it could. There is the line, but yea, it is lego, even if it's digital lego. :)
Was the keyring a minifig?
Yeah. I was given the choice between these two. The girl who was serving me asked me which one I wanted.

Kind of a stupid question eh?
Is the keyring a Toys 'R' Us exclusive? I've been wanting to pick up Lego Batman for the Wii.
I think it is TRU exclusive. I haven't seen any other special offers anywhere else.
GP: Is the minifig on the keychain "glued" together. Or are they exactly like a minifig just with a metal keyring? I needs me a Robin and I'm not keen on paying $35 for the Robin & Penguin playset.
Apparently you can also get it at EBGames, but I'm not 100% sure.
I think the head is glues to the mask, but the head can rotate on the torso. The legs are glued on, but they can move. The hands are just in the arms like a normal minifig.
I think the key chain goes through the head and to the neck part, I tried unscrewing it but I don't think it is a screw in.
Try thisQuote:

Has anyone seen this in the stores yet? (My "Hot Rod itch" needs to be scratched... :))
Looks good, but also looks to be twice the price it should. :(

Couldn't resist any longer. On clearance at Kmart and with the extra 20% off ...
Thanks GP. But after playing more of Lego Batman videogame I'm in love with those tiny penguins. I might pick up that set now. Damn cross-marketing.
Pulse: That set might be an exclusive. Maybe at TRU or Myer. They tend to get exclusive sets more than Kmart or Target.
I noticed that the latest wave of Lego sets have been 8495 and 8154. Both Racers Tiny Turbo's sets. I found them to be severly overpriced for what you get. 8495 is $70!!! and 8154 is $120!!! I thought the licesned sets (Star Wars, Indy, Batman) were expensive but these bigger Racers sets are just rip-offs. I did splash out on 8495 after a 20% discount. $55 is still too expensive for what it is. Go grab the Speed Racer sets instead.
Enjoy that set Zippo. Creator vehicles are always impressive. The engineering for the converting roof is so simple yet oh so elegant and ingenious.
That's a great set, Zippo. Surprises me though, that's one of this year's sets already on clearance!?! I think it was just released 3 months ago.
Yeah, my sister wants those sets badly, Stompy. 8495 or 8154 though seem fair value given the number of pieces each have. 8154 works out to be 11c per piece which is very fair value compared to Agents or City. 8495 is 14c per piece. So yes, 8495 is overpriced relatively. But if you grab them at sale prices (15 to 20% off) then you'll get it below that.
Both are available at K-Mart this week:
8495 : $59.50 = 12c per piece
8154 : $102 = slightly less than 10c per piece
But Lego doesn't move as fast as Transformers. These sets should still be available next year so I'm in no rush to grab them for my sister. (Not to mention that she's not on holidays yet)
EDIT
I don't believe it's in stores. The 10000s all tend to be very rare in the main market and are designed for the collectors online. I've been looking at the Star Justice set (another online only set) for a while now but not very likely to show up on the mass market unless its part of a massive sale. The last ones were Lego Town Plan and Lego Eiffel Tower that were high-end Myer exclusives during the mid year sales. Neither set are around any more though so availability of such sets is short sharp.
But I'm only knew to Lego so I can't say for sure.
I haven't seen it up here in Syd yet either (If I do stumble across one, I hope it won't be priced too expensive... *crosses fingers*)
Sorry Pulse. I was meant to say if it does come out locally it would be exclusive to a store like TRU or Myer. I didn't mean to say it was out. Sorry for the confusion.
STL: I dunno. The peices you get with these Racer sets are very small pieces compared to other sets with mini-figs. I just feel they are really overpriced. I waited and waited for set 8147 to drop the price from it's ridiculous $90 tag. Lowest it got was like $70. As much as I like my Lego Trucks I had to pass on it at that price.
Strange though. When it comes to TF I'd pick up at rrp without hesitation.
I find the pieces very unique b/c they're small and there are a lot more transparent pieces which are not as easy to get in bulk. Very useful for a lot of building of the unique jets u see on MocPages and feature on Brothers Brick. I grabbed that set for my sister off eBay for $50. As you said the cheapest was $70 at Big W Broadmeadows which I saw a few months ago now.
I want to use her set as parts but I'm not likely too.
As for being able to pass on Lego: I went through a small stage recently when I was disenfranchised/disinterested with TFs and totally enamored with Lego. At that point, I could hesitate for TFs to be on sale whereas Lego was more of a priority. I think I did a few cross town trips hunting certain Exo-Force units.
But I've since found my way again. :D I think the reason for hesitation w/ Lego sets is that they're purely construction at the end of the day. If you miss out, there's always another set that you can build. And in my case, I strip most of my sets down completely to make MoCs (which I hope to in the coming holidays before work starts up!)
Local Kmart got them in a few weeks ago for a promo on it, and I was very surprised to see it on clearance so quickly. Was going to wait until it was cheaper but after two were sold between my visit on Saturday and Sunday I thought I better purchase.
Saw 8495 and 8154 locally finally, and decided that I wanted 8154. But need to wait for the 20% sale.
GP: Cute keyring you got there, does that only come with Lego Batman for Wii?

Anyway my recent acquis:

I really REGRETTED not buying Castle Troll Warship 7048 when Kmart had it on offer for $69. It's now back to retail price of $94! Arggghh silly silly me... And I've pretty much picked up all Castle sets I can find at normal retail outlets. :( Wonder where can I find the others now at cheaper prices.
I know! I'm tempted to buy parts to build that awesome Batman Tumbler
But I'd also want some villains. I was thinking the same about the little penguins, but I'd also like the Joker, and that Ice Cream truck he uses in Lego's Tumbler set.
The Joker fan is fantastic, if you can bricklink the van and the smaller fan made tumbler it'd be worth it.
I've seen other sets in TRU that look like a lot of fun (Bat tank for example) but they are just too damn pricey. The Freeze set would be great if the two vehicles werent so terrible. The only set I can see being reduced down is the Robin/ Penguin set, I've seen many of those sets in every Target and Kmart I have been too.
Need a Clayface minifig, he is easily my favourite villain in Lego Batman.
For Stompy
This is the guy I won mine from too. Good bargains from his listed auctions
Thanks STL!
Wow. This might push me to finally go on ebay! I am a total ebay newbie and I'm afraid I might go crazy once in.
GP: I wasn't too keen ont he Tumbler at all. The Joker van + Joker mini-fig is nice but I will stick with my Batmobile + Two-Face van. I got lucky with the Batmobile. There was one lonesome box of it at Big W.
In the Lego Batman game I noticed a few other sets crop up. The police vehicles were from last years sets and the Penguin Submarine is actually the totally awesome Aqua Raiders Submarine redone in black.
I want a Catwoman minifig. Off to bricklink I guess!
Mel: That Troll Warship will go down in price again. It's shelfwarming everywhere I go. Also it's just one huge boat mould. The build of it won't be very interesting. Much like the Coast Guard ship that STL got for his sister. Just full of big pieces and hardly any construction at all. I hope you find last years Castle Sets. Especially the Skeleton Carriage. That's awesome!
I thought it was done in the same manner as the old Pirate ships. So like the ends and middle were separate parts so they make the boats longer/shorter set to set.
I'm not keen on that tumbler either. I'd love to get my hands on that Two-Face set, and maybe some more goons from bricklink.Quote:

And it was good to see the city sets used in the game, makes sense when you think about it.
You're right! I've never actually built a pirate ship of any sort. Always saw the tanker mould which was one huge piece.
The tanker mould is just one big piece, but that is so it can float in water.
In one of the older city series they had a whole big thing about boats that could actually float.
I got one of the old hulls somewhere around here. I found that, although it could float, one small wave to the side of the vessel would capsize it almost immediately
Wow that's good if the price really drops again, I'm trying to complete the Castle Sets. Thanks to Pulse, he's giving me the Skeleton Carriage and Knights Defence sets 7090 and 7091. :D Then I also have the Dwarves set coming from ebay in the next week or so. Got that for AUD$59.50 shipped, which was a pretty good buy. :)
Anyway I picked this up before the Kmart sale ended. Couldn't find anymore other sets which I wanted for the moment. Also good in a way, can ease the poor wallet for a bit.

its been fun to watch mel sink slowly into the hold of lego :p
Lego is another black hole, as bad as TF...
Getting off my butt and starting to take pictures again (courtesy of a bit more time too now)
