LOL!! Damn that was good, my favourite part:
"I ate hot peppers...Close the door. Agghhh, so hot. Hey, how my face look? BAD?! Oh lord I"m already ugly!"
Totally classic. :D

Can anyone living in western Sydney recommend a Chinese restaurant? My fav one has changed ownership and is no where near as good.
It's such a cold day today and yesterday....
perfect weather for some comfort food - nice hot chicken porridge:D - Arrozcaldo!

I have had a phobia of Asiatic foods since the age of 5 (Had a Chinese Omelet that made me sick for over a week :o), but over the past couple of weeks I have found a new favourite dish: Chicken Pad Thai! :D:cool:

Sorry to hear that...must be a bad batch you had...

Sticky and chewy with that tang flavor from the tamarind juice, yum. I used Prawn and Chicken in mine - just coz I can heheheh might as well indulge. Of course Claratyne was in order after wards hehehehe
@morg176 : make mine Dark Chocolate;)... I don't really like the Chocolate used in easter eggs, has that yucky I dont know kinda flavor to it.
I love most asian food, and that pad-thai looks awesome but most chinese food that i eat, especially the fried ones makes me feel so full but so hungry shortly after because all of that damn MSG
THANKS Skywarp91, yeah, it's best to make your own, MSG free :D. Which is why I usually just eat the dish so i can deconstruct it or, have a basis for what it tastes like before I search for the recipe. At least when Im cooking it, while Im cooking it I know if Im headed in the right direction if I get the taste right. :D
I only ate Thai food the first time when my cousin invited me to eat at Holy Basil at Canlyvale - Im still figuring out how to copy their Fried ice cream - thin 1 layer filo pastry wrapper not the usual crumb wrap... Ive got the theoretical on how to go about it, but skills wise I don't think I have it hehehe
Bought some US products yesterday.
Chocolate Lucky Charms

Tastes just like coco pops, and the charms are basically just sugar cubes.
Marshmallow FLuff
http://humoroutcasts.com/wp-content/...ert0406-de.jpg
This stuff tastes amazing, but it's best stored at room-temp. If it's refrigerated it becomes really tough to spread.
Coles used to have that Fluff spread, but not any more... I was looking for it after coming back from BotCon, because I had a pie over there with that sort of sugary/marshmallow stuff on top (which was really delicious) and I wanted to make that sort of pie myself. Now I have to wait until I get back over there to have it again. :(
Did you buy that stuff from somewhere in Adelaide, or did you order them from somewhere? There's a place in Melbourne that sells American foods online, but there seems to be a lot of lolly kiosks in shopping centres these days that stock a lot of American snacks and foods.
Got it from a place called Lollipop Shop in West Lakes Shopping Centre for $7.50
Are there other charcoal chicken places in Sydney that tastes close to the granville famous chicken place next to the train station? I tried to google and didn't find any place on the addresses listed there.
Inner west preferred? Blacktown and such?
Went to Blackebys at Tea Tree Plaza, saw the Strawberry Marshmallow Fluff for $10, bought 2 Twinkies and a couple of cereals - Cheerios Apple and Cinnamon and Captain Crunch. Tried twinkies for the first time, they basically have the same ingredients as a vanilla sponge roll you can buy at your local supermarket for much cheaper but just has a different texture and is probably loaded with much more preservatives.
You should be able to. Problem with these import stores is that the stock will always vary at different places, I've been to this Blackebys about 5 times now and this was the only time they stocked twinkies. Means you just have to keep visiting these type of places constantly, or call constantly until they stock what you want. I plan on calling weekly to see if they eventually get Apple Jacks.
They should have it at USA Foods in Moorabbin.
Eating Blair's Jolokia Chips (can be bought here: http://www.wildfirechilli.com.au/bla...kia-chips.html)
My tongue is on fire and so is my bunghole!!!
I imported some Halloween themed confectionery from America (from ebay), because the themed stuff (Easter, Christmas, Halloween) is only available for a couple months, and unless really popular, is never produced again. And since BotCon is always between "seasons", I can never try these while over there.

Caramel Apple Milky Way - a very subtle apple after-taste is the only unique thing with them, so aren't anything special.
Pumpkin Pie slice - an iconic American food is Pumpkin Pie, but is only around this time of year, so I never get to try it. Recipes online are varied, so I'm not sure if I'd end up getting it right. So when I was ordering confectionery items from this seller, I saw they had this packet mix available for Halloween and thought that at least it should turn out to be similar in taste to Pumpkin pie for me to know what it is all about (if it is a sweet pie or a savoury pie). I just haven't tried to make it yet (I was busy last weekend).
M&Ms Candy Corn - in America, candy corn is a popular sugar-based candy (like jelly beans). These were very sweet, sweeter than normal white chocolate.
M&Ms Pumpkin Spice - a bit misleading with the name, in that it isn't pumpkin flavour... it is supposed to be the spices from Pumpkin pie. As such, it tastes like fruit cake or plum pudding, with the musty after-taste you get from those rich christmas items.
I got a couple packs of each in the ebay listing, so took some to work and gave the rest away, as I didn't really like the "pumpkin" M&Ms, and couldn't eat too many of the sickly sweet Candy Corn ones.
Just thought I'd share, being Halloween today. :)
Did up the Pumpkin Pie last week. One pack I did and took to work, the other I shared with the other people at home.
As expected with a packet mix, it didn't take much time and effort. Just some butter, eggs and water between the two pouches (base and filling)....

The result was a very usual taste and texture.
The base is like gingerbread, while the filling has the texture of roasted pumpkin, and a subtle taste of pumpkin as well... with lots of spices.
It ended up tasting a lot like the M&Ms - the spices bit of the M&Ms.

I'll still try to find it in America though, as a fresh pie... but for now, I'm satisfied at knowing what this uniquely American dish is all about.
Does that pumpkin pie taste sweet?
Not the filling. The base was sweet, being Gingerbread... but the "pumpkin" filling was more "spiced", like a fruit mince pie filling or fruit cake.
One of my friends is canadian... she's been in oz for about seven years and holds thanks giving each year.
She invites our entire group of friends and my fave bit is her pumpkin pie!!! ( i'm salivating just thinking about it... lol )
Make sure you try it if your in the states... its awesome :D
Well now I've seen everything.
Lays potato chips.. covered in chocolate.
That's awesome Griff!
I had a go at pasta carbonara tonight. Turned out really good. It was a very basic recipe that tasted very close to this fantastic take away pasta place in Venice I was at in January.
Yum :)
Each holiday season, the American candy companies seem to try to outdo each other with limited flavours.
I've mentioned in the past about M&Ms having seasonal special flavours, well this Thanksgiving-Christmas season I've found the following unusual flavours...
M&Ms Gingerbread
M&Ms white peppermint (candy cane)
M&Ms cherry cordial flavour
M&Ms Holiday Mint flavour
Hershey Kisses - candy cane mint flavour
Hershey Kisses - cherry cordial flavour
Hershey Kisses - mint truffle flavour
Lindor dark Peppermint (candy cane)
Lindor White and milk snowman
Twix Gingerbread
Dove Peppermint Bark (?)
Ghirardelli Peppermint Bark (?)
Some of them I've purchased from this seller, which isn't cheap when you factor in shipping, but worth it for anyone really really keen to try any of those limited edition flavours before they disappear.
Saw some Twinkies at the American sweet stall at the Towers today.
Must try them tomorrow

Well worth the $4 :D
I concur....

Got some Sriracha chilli sauce on my dinner tonight, wow that's got a bit of spice.
But even hotter than that? I got myself a bottle of Blair's Ultra Death sauce whilst in Melbourne, and by god that stuff will burn for ages.
Has anybody tried the Wagyu Beef pizzas from Domino's?
I ate at Memphis Bar & Grill in Penrith for lunch and decided to try an insanity wing. Extreme heat in these wings. They have a challenge to eat 10 wings in 5 minutes. I think you may end up like this if you manage it lol
