I personally think this console war was particularly interesting. The Wii won by making sure everyone of both genders and almost any age can play.
The 360 won me completely over by their move to listen and please their particular core audience and just continually build and continually listen to the demands of their userbase. Not to mention that nearly every developer is favouring this console and there's a heck of a lot more interesting exclusives on the 360 than the PS3.
The PS3 in my eyes is a sad state of affairs. Sony had the chance to have made a console that could dominate the market but failed to do so with a ridiculous pricepoint and forcing their propriety media player onto the market. Especially when they got rid of the backwards compatible model and resting on their laurels that thinking the Playstation brand will carry it to victory. The big games that was meant to sell the console failed to do so and the future is very fussy and perhaps grim for the machine. With plenty of previously labeled exclusives becoming available for the 360, the shift from developers jumping onto developing their games for the 360 as well proved a much more financially viable and would penetrate a greater share of the market.
That's just my own 3 cents though.
I'd say to investigate the games available for the consoles Paul and see what is available and most cost effective. I highly reccomend the 360 for the sheer cheap price and a tonne of games already available. I can give you some reccomendations if you need it. Just list the type of games you like ;)
