I know that feeling. It just feels wrong transforming into something that's not 'it'. I find myself never buying the figures that turn into something sort of incorrect. Unless it's super awesome of course :D

I only have the first Movie Voyager Ratchet, so can't really provide an opinion, might be worth waiting to see if there's a ratchet figure for this movie.
I like the size of the voyager.
I have the first movie voyager Ratchet but I think its horrible looking thing. I got a few deluxe Ratchets and I think the best looking one is the red DOTM Specialist Ratchet. I use this as a 'classics' Ratchet as it's better and cheaper than the older Universe one. I also have the ROTF and DOTM green deluxes.
Takara has a white AOE Ratchet deluxe also which looks great IMO.

It's because I buy what I see on-screen, so repaints don't interest me. That said, the RotF deluxe has a great-looking robot mode, and I like the fact that it has a screen-accurate weapon, so I'm kind of torn.
Good idea. I'm not in a hurry to offload my current Ratchet.
Is the Myer exclusive Optimus Prime / Gaia Unicron set worth getting as a strange Optimus? I'm thinking of getting the set to display combined as a weird Prime.
I thought I liked the Unicron, paid a lot for mine. But I kind of keep pushing him further and further away on my shelves :D
I just placed an order for the MP Guide book on Amazon Japan. The book itself costs 2800JPY ($30) with $13 for postage. I can't decide if I should keep this order, pay $13 for postage, and receive the book by Friday... or cancel this order, and combine it w/ my order for MP Wheeljack to save money on postage (by up to $10), but wait until late September (or early Oct) before receiving the toys and book. Hrmmm...
I'm currently leaning towards the latter. Thoughts?
When i ordered the MP Guide, i also got 2 other books - both of which were in stock, while the MP Guide was still on preorder. In the checkout i chose "Group my items together", but the next day, the 2 in stock items shipped immediately and the MP guide shipped later when it released. They didn't charge any more shipping than what was quoted originally either so you could try your luck combining the orders and maybe they'll ship the book before the toy.
Usually when I get toys sent from Japan in bulk, the cost of postage per item works out pretty cheap -- as cheap as $3 per item. So is it worth potentially saving $10 and getting this book nearly 2 months later, or just pay the extra ten bucks and get it by the end of the week?
...hnn... $10 impatience tax...
Two months? $10? Dude, we both know that's not gonna happen :p
To be perfectly honest, I really wanted to get this book to read the interview with Kobayashi Hinonori (I know there's been a translation posted, but I want to read it in its original Japanese :o). But anyway, someone else has expressed interest in this book and has agreed to buy it off me after I get it. So I'll get to read the interview first (and have a sneak preview of the rest of the book) before passing it onto the other guy. :) I'll also have a better idea after looking at it as to whether or not the rest of the book will entice me to want to get my own copy (try before I buy ;)).
i should be getting my copy of the MP book this week hopefully , well if it comes before ,i can bring it to the granville fair if people want to see it, i should be getting a table there :)
I enough green to get one of the Generations Specialist 3 packs, being the Decepticons (Astrotrain, Galvatron and Octane) and Autobots (Hound, Mirage and Ironhide), as they're on sale at BBTS. I'm having trouble deciding.
Reasons for both:
Decepticons:
-Some major Decepticon players I don't have
-Metallic paintjobs that work well
-Really big fan of Astrotrain and Galvatron
-Most of my POL and already existant Classics is overwhelmed by Autobots, Decepticon numbers are pretty low
-Finish Decepticon triple changers
Autobots:
-All three are major parts of '84 Autobot cast, would finish off most of my core Autobots
-Good metallic paintjobs for good moulds, better than Henkei versions
-I don't own the (vastly superior to Generations) Universe Ravage mould
I'm planning to add a set tonight as the last item in my POL for this year. (should ship in October, due to Arcee, Brainstorm, etc) I could probably afford one later on near Christmas, so maybe which set is better to get sooner rather than later would be widely appreciated.
Cheers. :)
Yep Decepticons - this version of Astrotrain is so incredibly cool.
They also look like the more expensive of the two sets on eBay at the moment - so if BBTS sells out of both of them, it will be easier for you to hunt for the other (this was a different story a few years ago, when Mirage was $40+ and Ironhide was selling at $80+).
I would say Autobots, because the Decepticons set is three pretty bad toys, and the bots are all pretty good ones.
So I'll be getting around $150 for my birthday which is next month and I've my eye on Metropelx for quite some time (I gots plenty 'o legends figures),
but then I discovered this Star Wars Republic Attack Shuttle and now I'm torn.
My main reason for getting Metroplex was so that I could have a cool playset/base mode for my little legends. I've always loved playsets that looked like an actual base or headquarters and the shuttle looks like it does that job much much better. Also I'm not too fussed with staying within a genre so it's fine that it isn't a TF.
Anyways, I think the shuttle is super awesome as it goes from a shuttle that can hold and (sort of) interact with my legends figures to a wicked base with heaps of playability.
But on the other hand... METROPLEX!!!.. I love his base mode and the robot mode is killer. Just the 'transport' mode I feel really is sub par and looks like he is sitting down.
Which do you think I would go for? What do the Metroplex owners think about their figure?
Question 1 how much space do you have?
Metroplex is MASSIVE. if you are limited for space he might just not be practical.
I have my Metroplex on display on a shelf in robot mode as the other modes just don't fit anywhere in our apartment.
I question if the shuttle geometry will suit the size/shape of transformers legends, the platforms and ramps that suit the star wars figures might be too narrow for the little transformers. This is a guess from the pictures and video in your link. while the shuttle is smaller overall, it doesn't really have a mode that doesn't take up a lot of real estate, at least with Metroplex his robot mode has a comparatively small footprint even it is 2 feet tall at the same time.
the transport mode of Metroplex is good for displaying legions in vehicle modes, especially the aircraft. you can fit a lot on there.
Personally as much as I really like star wars, it's not transformers and therefore my advice is Metroplex, but the above needs to be considered. I have Fortress Maximus as well, I got it out of the box, changed its modes a couple times and then put it back in the box in the cupboard because there was no-where to display it without it getting in the way. this might be the biggest issue with city formers. Of course if they came out with a Titan Trypticon I would buy it in a heartbeat.
Metroplex :)
Old photo, but to give you an idea what I meant:
(Metro is also a great counselor for prime)

he looks hyoooge in that second photo  :D
it is :D
I had to do a double take thinking, damn, that's one big bot :p
I'd love to see an image of Metroplex next to a baby. ;) But here's my Metroplex next to my then-four-year-old daughter. Fortress Maximus is about the same size (a bit shorter but bulkier/heavier) than Metroplex, and there's also a pic of Brave & Fort Max w/ my daughter when she was a newborn. :)

So these toys are actually bigger than newborns, or about half the size of a preschooler. ;)
Space is no issue. Metroplex will definitely be the centre of my display but in our new flat I've dedicated one whole wall of my office to TFs so he'll be fine.
See your point about geometry and sizes of the shuttle -it could look pretty now but I think down the road or could have a higher chance of being annoying to play with.
I found some pictures of deluxe figures with Metroplex and even they don't look out of place.
the only thing the shuttle is doing well for me is the whole "cool space ship that drops in from orbit and turns into a command centre" it feels very "Axalon" from beast wars.
In every other aspect Metroplex wins.
All this talk about Metroplex and the photos is making me want to take him out of the box... no no I must resist the urge to ruin his minty goodness! Or perhaps just cave and buy another one to display out of the box... Well there is a decision I need to make haha.
Not being a fan of MISB I say take it out :D
Just open it. How else are you going to play with it? ;)
My subscription to the TFCC is almost due for renewel, I received an email today saying that it will automatically renew in 15 days.
I have to decide if it's worth it this year, at the moment I'm leaning towards probably not.
I don't care a rats about the free figure.
The membership purchase figures are interesting, Nova prime and Marissa Fairborne. though Nova should have been a bigger mold than a small deluxe.
Unless something changes drastically it's super unlikely that I'll be going to Botcon so there's no saving or advantage to being a member for that.
I might be interested in the Subscription service 4, if it happens, I very nearly didn't go in for Subscription service 3 and still wonder if I should have. I will need to be a member to purchase SS4 if I decide I like it.
I don't mind the club magazine, I do wish it had a bit more substance and for $82 US it's probably not worth my trouble but if I do re-join so I can order SS4 then i'll be half way through the yearly comic and be trying to get hold of the issues I would have missed out on.
$82 US is over $100 AU at the moment, making for a very expensive 4 magazines if I get it and nothing else. that's almost 4 combiner limbs...
hmmmmmm doesn't really add up does it:(
Trying to decide whether to go the Takara version or the Hasbro version of the new Generations Leader Class Megatron. They cost pretty much the same unless you go the G1/Armada 2 pack from BBTS which lowers the cost to $45US per figure.
Any suggestions to which is the better? I cant tell from the pics.
Geez, its like you are in my brain man! I got the same message and am weighing up the exact same things and hold pretty much the same opinions.
Maybe to take the decision out of my hands I should just wait to see what you do ;)
