That's probably the most logical guess, but then it makes you wonder why TT hasn't shown the accessory yet?

Indeed.
The only other option is plugging one of the swords into it, which have a plug that would look to fill it perfectly:

Why you'd want to do that is an even bigger mystery...
Mind you, it wouldn't surprise me if the wrist computer came with a Primal repaint -- just like how the extra bug-eyed faces that were meant to go with Ultra Magnus were instead bundled with Delta Magnus...

TT would definitely pull a fast one like that just to make you buy the repaint!
oh my.. what have I started. haha.
I also thought maybe the swords could be plugged in there but that wrist computer is a good guess..
I also thought that maybe the right canon is spring loaded so no need for the notch while the left isnt and needs to be opened manually. Unlikely I know, but just a thought.
One thing to note is something that the Hasbro people said at this years BotCon is that TakaraTomy will often add in things to the toy designs with something future in mind "just in case"... like combiner ports, tabs or post holes that we sometimes never find out what they were for because they weren't used in its first release.
Kinda like putting in electrical points around the house when it is being built - some may never be used but they are there just In case and don't negatively impact on the overall design.
may be they will add another accessory bundled with a reissue anytime next year :D (just like what they did with Ironhide)
Maybe a Masterpiece Beast Wars accessories set. A Stasis Pod plus a few iconic odds and ends from the show.
Can't wait until I get my Optimus Primal.
Back as a kid I used to always kick myself for getting the predacon combiner set instead of Ultra class Optimus Primal.
Now that I'm getting this, I don't have to worry about passing on the original mold every time it gets rereleased

Glorious!!!!!
I never really got into Beast Wars, and won't buy this figure, but hot damn that looks beautiful.
Delicious :D
Oh gosh, amazing new pics!!!
I think it's just the bad angle making the exposed robot kibble look like a schlong, although it seems like they've done a few colour tweaks from the initial stock figure (that they used for the box photography) versus the production model -- the most notable one being the colour of the helmet and crest grill:

Kind of prefer the lighter blue and darker grill.
Comparing the Animation model and the Takara MP-32 Beast Convoy figure. Thanks to Cheem from TFW2005.

Okay, I just caved and pre-ordered this toy. :p Can't wait! :D
Takara has really done it again. By Primus I cannot wait for Dinobot.
Anyone know how big that Ratchet in the picture is? I'm wondering now if Optimus Primal is even smaller than I was thinking.
It looks like the Warrior class Ratchet... which would only make Optimus Primal slightly bigger than the Masterpiece Autobot Cars. No where near the size of MP Optimus, which is how big I thought Primal would be.
Figure he will stand well scaled with the CHUG Rhinox and Rattrap
Looks to be the same size as an Ultra Class figure, which is what the original gorilla Optimus Primal toy is. An Ultra Class figure is larger than a Voyager but smaller than a Leader. More recent examples include Universe Silverbolt, Dreadwind, Powerglide, Onslaught, Clench etc.
This might be the first time that an MP would be the same size as its original figure! (I don't own a G1 Star Sabre to compare with my MP, but it looks like the MP is larger).
Just like to point out that BW MPs are obviously not scaled to G1 MPs. If it were, then MP Beast Convoy would be tiny. Here's a human skeleton next to a gorilla skeleton - as you can see, even when standing fully upright, humans are still taller. Of course, gorillas don't stand upright (humans are the only primates who have a fully erect gait), so the a scale Optimus Primal's head would be somewhere between the heights of the Spike and Daniel figurines included w/ MP Ultra Magnus. This is in beast mode, so in robot mode it'd be maybe a head taller than Spike. Even going by cartoon scale, Optimus Primal would only be about as tall as MP Spike in Exo Suit in robot mode.
I suspect that they're sticking with the same size as the original Ultra Class toy for this. Although Dinobot was taller than Primal in the show, because in the cartoon Optimus Primal was really reduced to the size of a Mega (Voyager) and Dinobot was bumped up to an Ultra size. So if MP Beast Convoy is going to be Ultra size then I wonder if a potential future Dinobot would be Leader size.
So much awesome they can barely fit all the photos on the back of the box! This week has dragged on so long waiting for him!
Hhmmm... that's an interesting idea. Would look pretty cool too. Only thing is that my BW shelves are pretty darn full. My MP shelves have more room for now, but will become full themselves as I build my G1 MP collection. Hhhrrmm... I suppose I could pack away my Volcano Base to free up more shelf space for MP Beast Convoy.

Interesting... looks to be closer to Mega size than Ultra (which does make it more show-accurate)
Japanese street release date is still tomorrow (Saturday), right?
