So tempted to order a Sons of Anarchy jacket, even if it's as much as a Fort Max...
woo hoo found Garth Merenghi's Darkplace on dvd.
Friends and I just finished watching dexter s7, I really enjoyed the development of Debra, probably the only part of s7 I even cared about watching.
Also finished Hell on Wheels s1, which was enjoyable towards the end, but it is rather slow paced, if you want a western tv series it is worth a go.
Season finale of Burn Notice tonight :(
Yeah, I gotta say that I was less impressed with season 7 when compared to how the series was going previously. It seemed to lack a main protagonist that previous seasons had and rely on the relationship between Dexter and his sister to drive the plot. I'm starting to think that ending the show with season 8 wouldn't be all that bad.
That's coz Dexter killed them all already :D:D:D
Watched Miss Universe last nyt :)
I watched a tiny bit of recorded Miss Universe (winner bit) when I was getting a snack. Looked overrated to me.
I hate television programming in Dec/Jan  That is all.
Just use the time to catch up or rewatch other stuff. I've been rewatching The Walking Dead and getting annoyed by Dale, the kid and Lori all over again.
Hmm, not sure if i like that, the show seems be be coming to a head, hate to see it dragged out.
So I just finished watching Battlestar Galactica, the re-imagined series recently and I thought it was brilliant television despite the somewhat over-reliance on religious undertrones. The characters are so real, the space battles are breathtakingly epic and the dialogue is so well done. Yes there were a few dodgy episodes but overall I really enjoyed the series.
So I decided to watch the prequel show that came out after, 'Caprica'.
And my gods, IT IS BORING. SO FREAKING BORING.
Most of the characters are unlikeable and there isn't much to relate to them - heck even young Bill Adama seems like a brat despite becoming a badass leader in BSG. I think what one of the major mistakes that this series made was that it took itself WAY too seriously unlike Battlestar. Yes Battlestar may have had overly corny moments at times there were also many moments when the show had fun with itself as well.
I guess it's one of those things writers and filmmakers should consider when trying to create a story, not to take yourself so seriously that you forget to have fun.
I got the BSG box set for Christmas after having seen none of it or the original series and I'm loving it so far, but I'm only just getting toward the end of the second season - one of the mates that recommended it to me says it gets a little bit like Lost, but in space (not to be confused with Lost in Space).
The religious undertones are annoying me a lot - I'm here for the space opera, the dogfights and the space carrier fighter pilot life, not your crazy prophecy crap lady.
That was just fan service they did to us, but in the comic it was so much better the way they approached it.
I was given a Sanity gift voucher for Christmas, went to use it yesterday and found the Complete Series of Earth 2 :D
Such an amazing show that had some great foundation, I guess there wasnt the audience for it at the time :(
I've started watching a new TV Show called Arrow. So far I can't get enough of it. It's amazing :D:D:D And to top it off it has a comic been done with it side by side. To fill in some of the back story of other characters and such.
Anyone else seen any of it?
Yeah it's good, lotsa killing! Opposed to simply subduing.
I cant wait for more of the Green Arrows rogues gallery to show up, and quite a few have in the first 5 eps :)
I haven't watched any of Arrow yet but everyone keeps telling me to. Maybe now that there's nothing on TV, I can invest some time checking it out.
It's been fantastic so far. I just read the comics that are being released side by side with it. They actually relate to the show. And I must say they've really done a great job, with what they've actually done with them. It shows so much back story of other characters and little things. So they're great to have along side a show like this :D
I too have not seen Arrow, but my brother highly suggested it because it is pure awesomeness.
So I'm still watching Caprica, more than half way through and after reading one internet comment about how the show gets better....
...well it does.... ....AT BEING WORSE.
THIS SHOW IS JUST PURE FACEPALM.
What kind of terrorist leader hires a bunch of emotionally unstable teenagers to do their bidding?
The Italian looking folk are coincidentally from a planet notoriously known for being involved in the Mob?!?
How can I relate to:
- A teenage girl who hates her super rich parents so much that she runs away ALL to join pretentious religion? (Zoe)
- A ruthless cult-leader who will kill everyone who stands in her way to reach to the top? (Clarice)
- A teenage girl who cannot die and just walks around killing people? (Tamara)
- A rich man who intentionally is responsible for many murders and yet thinks that his life or that of his family is above all others? (Daniel)
- Another teenage girl who commits terrorist acts to maintain freindship with another girl who treats her like crap? (Lacy)
- A high-class lawyer that you actually never see in court and doesn't really anything significant but follow his criminal brother around intimidating others? (Joseph)
- A hitman? (Sam)
At least Battlestar had its relatable characters, but this is a rant long and satisfying enough for moi.
Least I can keep Caprica on my don't watch list still :D
Well, I'm 2 episodes into Arrow and I must say that I'm impressed! It has many similarities to The Dark Knight - recluse rich guy comes home to avenge his father and takes on a superhero persona, but that's not such a bad thing. Can't wait to watch the rest. Thanks for the recommendation Mythirax :)
Homeland s2 is even more enjoyable than s1.
Now up to episode 7 of Arrow. This show really knows how to get you hooked.
Don't forget the comics!
I've not purchased here myself before, not sure where else you can buy them.
With Homelands done for the moment, i have been recommended by a friend to watch Firefly, which i'm currently enjoying. It's space+cowboys/pirates for those who are not sure what the show is about, obviously with more depth.
I have completely caught up with Arrow now :D Only problem is, now I have to wait for new eps :(
Here's a recommendation of my own - The Following. It reminds me of a cross between Dexter and 24. Fast-paced and thrilling.
