The G1 US Cartoon. Sunstreaker and Sideswipe use it against the Seekers in 'Roll For It'. Even Sunstreaker admits that they're not very good at it.

Do you have a source that says that Movie character was named after that particular comic book artist? It could just be a common enough 'ethnic' name, for the writers to give to that 'ethnic' character.
(I did wait a while to post this so as not to give away the answer too soon - but it looked like no one was gonna get it anyway)

Here's hoping the source isn't from one of my own botcon reports, and I've forgotten it... :p
