I guess you could say the Fourth is with us?
I’ll see myself out now.
Only just now working for me
Edit:
Oh the site’s internal clock is off. I thought the previous posts were all from this morning but this post just came up as 830am too.
Good to have the board back.
Was it just this host or did they have bigger problems like a DNS DOS attack?
The reason is vague, and only publicly mentioned after I asked for it last night on their twtter account...
I think it might be their server clocks that are out by 8 hours, as I can't see anything wrong on the messageboard end, and my new emails are coming in with the same 8 hour time difference.Quote:
The cause of the issue was that we experienced technical issues with our storage cluster. Due to the actions we've undertaken to migrate off of it, we are actively moving everyone to more modern and reliable infrastructure.
Unfortunately, a lot of legacy systems are proving more difficult to migrate than we had hoped. ColdFusion & older PHP servers are affected. We will be working through the night to continue bring services online.
It looks like the server is set to Hawaii/Alaskan time. By default Linux sets itself to UTC time. It may be they have misconfigured or not configured the server to point to a NTP server.
I would question why they were hosting stuff on what they admit is dodgy old storage and infrastructure.
Is it just me or is anyone else having optical illusions when looking at their name/logo?
Looks like there are still websites down.
At least it looks like the clocks are back on time (at least for me).
Sometimes i post and it stalls, i hit post a second time and it registers instantly with the message not posted as its identical as post before. I need to hit post a second time otherwise it just sits there waiting to load.
looks like we're back again
I just posted in Laserbeak sighting and no issue for me Griffin.
Yay we're back!!
crosses fingers.
Let's hope there's no more major downtime in the future for the boards.
Everybody

Rock your body right
Boards-Are-Back
ALL RIGHT!!!!
I hope this is the last of the two shutdowns I've experienced so far.
The double-post warnings have stopped, but I'm no longer getting new post notifications sent to email.
I usually get an email when I get a private message, but have now received two PMs (Thursday and today) since the board came back but no email for either. Related?
It seems that the server host wasn't able to migrate the domain to their new servers, so returned it back to the old one (I couldn't get an answer as to why it was offline for so long just for them to return it back to where it was originally).
As such, they have told me that they intend to move it some time soon (within a week or two), and claimed that they would let me know first before they do, because it would be offline for a few hours (which probably means a day or two). That's if I don't get it moved to a new server host first.
I will put up something at the top of the board to alert people, in case they do the move without telling me.
I think there might be an issue with the board's link to the server host's email server, as new registrations don't appear to be getting their emails either. Maybe the server host has disconnected the old servers from their email server.
Ok, thanks.
I like the new design. Much approved :)
Default is the new black.
New design is nice. Wonder if this is what tflunited used to use; definitely updated but a little bit familiar.
OTCA? Is that you?
Here's a hint!

Well, the good news (other than being back online again) is that it has been upgraded to the latest version of this messageboard, which means a heap of new frills and features to play with (like embedding youtube videos now).... the bad news, is that since it is now a much newer version of the messageboard software, all of the customised elements of the old board were incompatible, so it's reverted back to a very boring default format. As such, it will take a while to play around with the visual elements and other settings (it took me over an hour just to work out how to get our banner logo back up)... because the old image files are gone, and I still don't have easy access to the new server's ftp.
And I have no idea how to get rid of that stupid "debugging info" box that shows up at the bottom of every screen... the terms just don't exist, so I can't find it anywhere to get rid of it or hide it.
Also, it looks like the server host didn't capture/transfer the board's database from when it was shut down on the 21st, as the last posts before today are on the 15th... so we are missing everything posted between Saturday 15 until Friday 21st (and typically, my last downloading of the database was the 13th, so I can't even make up for some of that lost time with one of my downloads). :(
Even though traffic has been light lately due to all of the time we've been offline lately, it will mean people have lost some PMs and postings, and maybe some sales postings as well... and I have to look over the various info-postings to see if any of them are missing an update (I can't remember which ones I did during that week).
Could have been worse I guess, as it is only a week missing... we could have lost months, or everything.
welcome back everyone!
Thanks for all of your efforts Griffin to keep this great place up and running.
At least we?re back.
Good to be back. Hope all of this hasn't been to stressful for you griffin. I look forward to checking out all the new features.
You may need to edit your site config file or ask the host to...
https://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/main/debug_mode
just change the end of the line to false
Thank you Griffin for doing your best to keep this board going despite the technical issues.
Don?t forget that several of us deal with websites as our job - so call out for help if you want us to look under the hood.
Considering we only lost a few days of post and have to put up with a few graphics and text issues I guess things went relatively ok because they could have been much, much worse.
