I'm looking to get a Cerebros, but I don't want a KO. I've googled around for a guide as to whether one exists and how to identify it, but haven't come across such a guide. Does anyone have any insight?

Thank you, but that's Spike. I'm only interested in Cerebros.
Yes, there are plenty of Cerebros knockoffs out there. (Other than the weird-coloured ones) often the stickers are a clear giveaway, but someone could put repro stickers on one and it would look similar to the original.
Yep, I've seen some KO Fort Maxes while I've been in China. Grossly out of scale (like the size of a Deluxe!) -- so it's impossible to confuse them for the real deal. ;) Didn't know there were 1:1 scale KOs though... that sucks. :(
sadly said i did have Cerebros and Spike KO without realising after buying it off a shop but well, its fun to have; jay remember me telling you about it
Thank everyone. No Icey, I don't recall. Do you have an original yet? Can you compare?
no original as yet but here's a couple of pics i took before my move.
saw him but i must have packed him away since i wont be displaying him without a fort max body

The green Spike definitely looks KO, unless it's the Grand Maximus Spike?
As to the Cerebros, what makes you think it's a KO? The color looks normal to me.
P.S. Here's the one I'm considering.
The colours look too bright to me, but it could just be the photography/lighting. That chest sticker's definitely wrong though (could be misapplied from another toy -- I noticed that one of the leg stickers is upside down). If you're keen to avoid getting a KO, maybe get a Cerebros that's somewhat yellowed/faded and give it a chemical bath to restore it?
A yellowed Cerebros might be cheaper and should mean that it's legit - you just need to do some restoration work to reverse the yellowing. Unless you're lazy like me and just leave it yellowed. :p
P.S.: TFU.info reference pic
Can someone who has all 3 Maximus take some photos too.
Are there any reissues or repaints?
bidding for the item si finished, did you win it Jay?
Nah, wasn't prepared to bite until I'm certain. Due to its ending price and high quality photos, I suspect it was legit.
Ha ha. OK. Maybe you just got lucky? :D
Iceburn - your not-Cerebros's legs are misassembled - his right leg should be his left and vice versa.
I'm with Sky on this one. I've only ever seen a handful of Cerebros KO's on ebay and they're either obvious crappy versions or semi accurate with dodgy stickers.
I don't see much of a problem with buying Cerebros on ebay (compared to Spike), but alternatively Jay, can I suggest http://www.fortmax.com/index.cgi
Not sure if you've purchased from there, but this store used to have a massive vintage G1 inventory. They only stock Fort Max stuff now I believe. My orders from fortmax.com have ranged between $10-$250 and I've never had a problem. I'm confident they don't stock any KO's - in fact most of those Fortress Maximus accessories in their inventory have been around for years
