Anyone watching this as well? I just finished tonight's episode - t'was okay but none of the couples were very likeable.
The 2 x Big W women both work at my work. Anne Marie works in Layby and Tracy works in home entertainment
Yeah it would have been MUCH better :D
Here is my analysis of the teams:
Alana and Mel (SA) - Reunited sisters:
The Yin and Yang couple, expect to see their relationship grow together or fall apart as the series goes. Likely to grow closer or just stay the same, but the non-nerdy sister just reminds me of this replusive girl at high school.
Tracy and Anne-Marie (WA) - Workmates:
Your token mums team that appeals to mothers/ladies of the same age. Seem polite but physically isn't as strong as the others. They might have the least confrontation of all couples I reckon.
Anastasia and Chris (NSW) - Dating:
The lovebird couple - the team whose relationship hasn't been tested yet, and I think this series will, like next week's trailer suggests push it to the edge or even breaking point. If they stay and work together, they can make a powerful team.
Dave and Kelly (WA) - Married bikers:
Elderly/True Blue Couple - Could say the team is chosen to appeal to bikers, but that's too specific - it appeals more to the older Australians that still like to live life on a fun/rough side. Dave already spat the dummy on the first episode but Kelly was relatively calm about it. Their relationship will be tested as they said at times they prefer alone time as well, but they seem to have a stronger bond than Anatasia and Chris.
Jeff and Luke (QLD) - Father and son:
Kind of another yin and yang couple, but more on the dramatic side. You have the father who's trying to get back his son's trust after abandoning him for years. They seem to be calm now, but when the sh!t hits the fan they are likely to get very tense. They could get far, but only if they can stick together.
Joey and Richard (NSW) - Married entrepreneurs:
This couple is interesting, they both seem to like taking up challenges and already have LIVE and WORK together so that's a plus too. I wouldn't be surprised if these two make it to the finals.
Matt and Tom (QLD & NT) - Farmers:
Another interesting team, unlike other teams these two haven't been gone overseas before. Though they seem to have a tight friendship going along their only worry is culture shock (which they handled really well in the first episode).
Mo and Mos (VIC) - Friends:
Your token ethnic couple. These two guys are pretty funny and even made a joke about their own backgrounds - 'I'm surprised when people walked passed they didn't call the cops because there was an Arab man climbing the MCG' LOL. Though they are funny, they're slower than the other couples which was evident with them coming in last place.
Tyler and Nathan (NSW) - Surfers:
The laid back young team of mates, meant to appeal to the younger viewers alike. They are physically fit but don't seem to handle the stress too well, as they got pissed at each other pretty quick into a challenge.
Sam and Renae (WA) - Models:
The beauty/glamour team. These girls know they have the looks, and they know how to use it to get their way. And one of them is a tomboy who knows her cars. Also, they've got physicality on their side. These girls got first place on tonight's episode. A very powerful couple but a confrontation between the two could easily destroy them as seen in the somewhat tense moment they were playing the counting game.
Ryot and Liberty (NSW) Brother and sister:
These two are interesting as well, they've grown up together knowing that they're both competitive. Ryot self-admittedly arrogant and smart whereas Liberty is the more reserved, calming force. Though they both might not have physicality on their side (Liberty got sick already), they make a deadly balance for a team.
Joey and Richard (NSW) - Married entrepreneurs:
This couple is highly annoying! Very disrespectful to the locals in indonesia when trying to sell the soup. Hoping for a mega fail or they get to the end only to finish 2nd.
Im hoping the farmers do well they seem pretty straight up. But darn one of the models without makeup is just nasty!
I love the Amazing race, but I am not so sure about this one. All the teams seem a little annoying to me to be honest. The Big W ladies are too giggly for me to like, the surfers just annoying. Muscles will be funny to watch, the reuinted sisters I just don't care for. The muslim guys will be good to watch. I just hope they aren't dumped too soon. Will their need to stop for prayer cost them?
I guess the Farmers are my most liked team, but the guy with the black hat is so ocker I have trouble understanding what he says.
Joey and Richard (NSW) - Married entrepreneurs:
These guys will be interesting to watch, as they have a lot of that self-motivation/life coaching sort of crap feeling. Plus Richard seems to be the go-getter of the team, whereas Joey looks like she is less so. It will be interesting to see how they go through a challenge when they one of them doesn't do too well. I think they will turn on each other.
Reminds me of this married couple about 4 seasons ago, she was all lovey for him and he said he was for her, but when they did poorly he turned on her something fierce. Poor girl.
Witholding judgement for now.
My wife Loves the Amazing race, we were bummed when we realised we'd missed out on the auditions, and now, last night, we missed the first episode...
Hopefully we can catch up and see how it goes, we are worried from the adds we've seen that the whole series is going to be a little too Gratingly Aussie and a little too Bogan.:D
Yeah Grant is great stuff, been a fan of him since his Outrageous Fortune days. Good ol Wolfgang West :D
I didn't notice that those 2 were being very disrespectful, must have not caught my attention as I was on the laptop as well. If that's the case, I hope they get what is coming to them - they did seem like the couple where it was ALL about trying to be successful but lacking the basic love.
If Mo and Mos don't make it, then I hope the farmers do too because they're not annoying, more of a modest down to earth team and they seem to share a very good friendship, much better than the surfer jerkies.
It's official - my two favourite teams are the Friends Mo and Mos AND the two farmers. Both are funny and aren't annoying like all the other teams. Though I don't mind the Married Bikers too, love how they're mean to the Lovers couple and the Married Entrepreneurs. Bad luck for Ryot and Liberty, I was expecting them to be eliminated further in the game.
I hope those entrepreneurs die in a fire. Dirty scum.
I really dislike the biker male. He seems like an underachiever, and has a chip on his shoulder. The greek couple are funny to watch, so are the check outs, but the funniest is the egyptian boys.
They should stay on the longest.
I thought it was excellent them clapping on the other contestants on the finishing line even if it meant they would be eliminated. That shows alot for the team.
Entreprenuers are driven, its a good thing people! They want to win they want to be there, and it is of course a game!
What I dislike the most is that this race is fully of "aussie bogans". Where are the Italians/Greeks/Vietnamese/Indians/Sudanese/Chinese???
Its the amazing race with all whites and 1 egyptian team and a good looking greek team...
Like Dirty scum in the bottom of a hotel shower thats so bad you feel you need to scrub out yourself? Hehe eeeewww - they may have been elimiated if the girls didn't give them the order... but tv would make Ryot and liberty look like they finished closer than they did.
Speaking of TV I went to a filming of deal or no deal today - andrew is a really good host and the dealettes :D wow they are all super tall!
Regarding the entrepreneurs, because of their heavily competitiveness and cockiness they may be DRIVEN to win but at the same time if they betray and use everyone, it may come back and bite them in the ass. Hard.
I don't mind entrepreneurs in general, but I hate those two for playing dirty and CONSiSTENLY YELLING THEIR STUPID CHANT - 'FOCUS BELIEVE ACHIEVE' . Even Grant Bowler the host wasn't so merry when those two arrived at the finish line..
Nice, I wonder what they're thinking when standing up there while Andrew is doing the show.
This show is great! Couldn't help but grin while watching :D
I missed ep3 though so I'll have to look for it somewhere.
@gamblor916
The third episode hasn't aired yet - only the 2nd one last monday. The pilot episode was 2-episodes long though
Just watched tonight's ep, THE ENTREPRENEURS GOT ELIMINATED! WOOO!!!!!
But damn Mo and Mos have gotta stop coming in last place!
Been watching a bit of this show- its awesome. I never really got a chance to see the U.S versions before.. but watched a bit on ye olde youtube (last 2 U.S. seasons which were good :D).
I hope the Aussie version amps it up a bit more- but all in all awesome.
I wanted both mo/mos and entrepreneurs to stay in (yeah, I was rooting for em cause everyone else hates em- and the fact they almost made it out of the u-turn. They play to win, but made it so blatantly obvious and being so arrogant? (not sure if they did anything jerkish previously) was to their detriment.. talk about painting a target on one's own head.
As for mo/mos... they need to step it up.. otherwise heading for elimination.
I don't hate any team.. they are all pretty entertaining in their own way.
those entreupereneeurreres were irritating, but they did give me someone to hate :D The show will be a bit less entertaining with them gone, but hey, if I was in the show, I would boot them too.
The two sisters are interesting, one isn't even trying to be nice to the other.
I wa surprised that "Team 105" were eliminated. I thought the producers would of found some way to keep them in as the team everyone hates they no doubt attract ratings. I did get quite the laugh when they got bogged though:D
I guess they'll focus on breaking down the relationship between Chris and Anastasia or possibly Alanah and Mel now for ratings.
I'm lovin the cowboys and the surfies.
Well now Mo and Mos out of the game. Surprising they lasted this long considering how damn slow they are compared to the other teams. Will miss them though.
Still rooting for the Cowboys!
My local TV Guide had the models on the front cover. Ugh.
watched monday's ep, there goes the adelaide girls - though I don't think I remember seeing them reflect on anything about becoming closer after the whole experience. THough now without Mo and Mos the show is much more serious, though the cowboys still provide a bit of humor now and then.
tonight's episode ended on a cliffhanger!?!?!? WHAT THE CRAP!>?!?>!
What happened with the cowboys and the police?
Or the cameras scare them off :D
Man those Models are paranoid! Twice they got hints from othere teams and managed to cock it up themselves and then blame it on others...
That old fella with the beard is a grumpy old bugger. Disliking him more and more. About the only team I like are the Cowboys, all the rest are slightly annoying.
:( Farmers are eliminated. Don't even feel like watching the finale now
so the final 2 teams are the models and male models?
Ugh I want the farmer and son team to win at least. They're a team I actually care about - the models and surfie boys (one of them is actually a model too) probably spend that amount of reward money in a year anyways!
It's only the bland teams left now. Sigh.
I was late to the party, since I was on my own Amazing Race, but my sister recorded all the episodes and I've just caught up with the whole show over the space of a week.
I've always enjoyed the US series and while the Aussie one took a while to get going, I really got into it. I thought the casting was great and it was enjoyable watching people who all seemed like people I've come across in my life.
I think Grant was a bit cold to the contestants though, compared to Phil, but he was starting to warm up towards the end.
I was happy with the winning team. They played a good game, performed well throughout and were generally just nice (compared to some of the others) with their laidback attitude.
One thing that bothered me a little was how often teams considered forfeit challenges, and in some cases followed through. Many of the challenges seemed to veer towards the hard-to-impossible side (like those sausages that the teams could only take one bite of before wanting to be sick) but it was still disappointing to see the Aussies taking the easy way out.
That's cool
